I had a lecture planned but I realized it felt rather redundant. We have huge list of lectures and while each topic is interesting, I feel it lacks the feedback aspect that's so important in our education. To quote one of my favourite books . . .

"The best thing about being sad is to learn something. That is the only thing that never fails. You may grow old and trembling in your anatomies, you may lie awake at night listening to the disorder of your veins, you may miss your only love, you may see the world about you devastated by evil lunatics, or know your honour trampled in the sewers of baser minds. There is only one thing for it then—to learn. Learn why the world wags and what wags it. That is the only thing which the mind can never exhaust, never alienate, never be tortured by, never fear or distrust, and never dream of regretting. Learning is the thing for you"

So, I put the question to the Fleet. What would you like to learn and how can we help each other? I hold classes on the Iskaulit for training of powers, but I'd be happy to broaden my classes for other subjects and needs.

Do you really have an interest from people here in lectures?

We do have a series of lectures held by various people in the Fleet. They've all been interesting but it's a bit odd for me.

I'm used to speaking in a classroom setting and that involves getting to know what the students want than just myself sharing.

I thought classroom settings were exactly that, teacher speaks, you listen.

Some are, certainly. But I try to make sure my school is not just that.

Well, my vote is you teach practical things.

What would you consider practical then?

I don't know this place well enough to say. I imagine a lot of us could use help with the technology.

It varies. I'm afraid I can't teach much in that area.

I'm sure there are other areas I haven't come across that we'll need too.

Mine? I'm just a professor. I teach a fair number of subjects to my students.

Don't professors always specialize?

On the university level, usually. My students are younger and don't require those kinds of intense specializations.

Guess you're stuck teaching adults here. What's your PhD in, though?

Genetics. Most particularly, mutations.
