I was never that great at cooking. Mostly mother taught Bethy. And then we had servants.
[He hmms a small sound, still remaining in Anders' space and peering over his shoulder.]
What's the easiest potion?
no subject
[Not that his cooking was remarkable by any stretch, but it had served them during their time on the run. He could make a mean 'somehting out of nothing.']
There's a few potions that would fit that category. A lesser healing poltice would be easiest, they're practically useless unless you've skinned your knee, almost no one uses them anymore, but you can't make stronger health potions without it.
However, in your case, I think I know something better to teach you than what I do all the time. Something I don't tend to make, but you'd find useful.
[There's an affectionate smile on his face as he reaches for a group of elfroot leaves set aside.]
There's a pot there to the left that has a covering over top, some deep mushrooms are growing in it, will you harvest a couple for me?
no subject
[Wolfe practicly purrs in Anders' ear, then moves reluctantly off to the pot as he retrieves his small knife from hsi belt. He had no idea that Anders had deep mushrooms growing here, or even where he found them. Elfroot, spindleweed, embrium and the like they'd found on previous planets but deep mushrooms Adalwolfe had completely missed. Not that he was really looking at the time. That had been before Anders remembered him, so there were other things occupying his mind.
He leans over the pot and removes the lid, leaning in to cut a few mushrooms out at the base of the stalk. He may not be any good at potions, but he does at least know how to harvest samples properly. Its the same as with mundane herbs and vegetables and they did have a modest little farm in Lothering, after all.]
Aren't these more used in poisons?
no subject
[Anders doesn't even blink with the purr in his ear and continues to focus on his work.
Wolfe brings back the samples and Anders gives him a look thick with pride at seeing how well they were handled and Wolfe's display of herbal knowledge.]
They are, but all poisons can be used for medicinal purposes when used in moderation, just as all medicines can kill when used in excess.
[He mixed the elfroot with a small splash of water to form a green paste, but then parts of the mushroom's tops were chopped up into fine pieces and added to the goop. Those and a bit more water made something akin to the consistency of too-thick batter.]
Have you heard of Mabari Crunch?
no subject
Yes! There was a woman in Lothering who used to make it. I'd save my coppers week after week since she'd never share the recipe. I had no idea you knew how to make dog treats, though.

[A small fireball formed in Anders' hand and licked the edges of the bowl, slowly heating the batter. In minutes, it was more dough-y than before and Anders tipped the bowl over to let the dough fall into his hand.]
Here.
[He broke the ball in half and handed the other half to Wolfe.]
Break off pieces and form them into whatever shape you'd like, then lay them out to dry and harden. It's as simple as that.
no subject
Look, this one is Crunch-rypheus!
no subject
Be sure to feed that one to Drools first.
[Anders paused in what little sculpting he'd done (choosing to leave most of it for his boyfriend's creativity), and leaned over to press a brief kiss to Wolfe's hair.]
I thought you might enjoy learning this. Would you like to make another batch or save it for later?
no subject
[He leans over the bowl with the dregs of their previous batter lining the bottom.]
So its... a handful of elfroot, two chopped up deep mushroom caps, and water?
no subject
A little more precise than that, but close! It's one elfroot, not simply a handful, that's how it gets it's restorative properties. These piles here are each the amount of one elfroot. You'll grind them into a paste using the mortar, then add the deep mushrooms which you need to chop into very fine pieces to get them to mix properly.
You start to work on the elfroot and i'll get the mushrooms?
no subject
[Under Anders' direction, Wolfe puts the little pile of what might as well be elfroot into the mortar and adds a bit of water as he'd seen Anders do the first time. Carefully so as not to lose any out of the mortar's bowl, he takes the pestle to it and starts working the ingredients into a paste, the ropy muscles of his bicep rippling under the skin as he grinds.]

I didn't expect to get a show with this lesson.
[He mumbles it as he leans in to brush Adalwolfe's hair back from his neck, allowing the healer to lean in and kiss the skin there.]
no subject
You're a menace.
[He leaves off his grinding for a moment to turn and capture Anders' lips against his own, though he doesn't drop his tools, just twists his body.]
How am I supposed to learn things when my teacher is just so... distracting?
no subject
[Especially now that Anders was far too distracted with lavishing Hawke's neck and shoulders with careful kisses to consider stopping.]
no subject
[Still, now it's a challenge and Wolfe determinedly goes back to grinding the elfroot into powder. Maybe a bit more vigorously than necessary...]
no subject
[Anders' kisses turn lazy and slow, but his hands begin to wander further than just those impressive arms of Hawke's, they slide from biceps to shoulders and down, down, slowly along Hawke's sides and to his hips. Nimble fingers with more than a little practice glide along Hawke's narrow hips to dig very briefly into his love's hip bones before continuing their tracing journey to what Anders' could reach of Wolfe's thighs.]
Now love, some things might like a more rough treatment, but the elfroot has it's limits, that should be plenty for it.
[Shameless? Him? Definitely.]
