In the clinic he can often be found making potions of various kinds. The clinic often smells of sweet plants and that special static in the air that is characteristic of Anders' magic. Every now and then, however, there might be a particularly foul smell coming from the clinic's open door. Anders has been trying to make a substitute lyrium potion from the 'mana leaves' he's been growing, while he's made some progress...he hasn't been fully successful.
That said, what extra space hasn't been taken over by potion-making has been converted into a small pet area, now that the garden has been moved. It's nothing compared to what's on the Marsiva, but it's better than nothing as well now that their ship has nearly as many animals as there are people. There's food and toys stashed here as well as a couple beds for the animals to lounge on. Anders figured he ought to keep his furry patients as happy as his human ones.
In the newly created on-board garden, Anders has moved all of his plants to Hawke's assigned room. It wasn't like he needed it with them staying in the same room together. Plants fill the old spring frame of the bed and line the floor and hang from the ceilings. Most of them are simply green or a deep blue, subtle and unassuming despite being powerful medicinal herbs, but there's a few more colorful things around as well. He's often there, watering, trimming and using touches of magic to help the plants flourish.
Of course, when Anders is on the ship, that means that Ser-Pounce-A-Lot is on the ship and the small orange tabby is not always the best at sitting still and staying near his master. Pounce can often be found in every nook and cranny of the Twins, whether that's mysteriously in someone else's room, lounged across someone's terminal while they're trying to work, or climbing up onto the tallest places he can find. At least he seems adept at hunting and killing the space rats...hope you like presents!]

Which is why Vash at the moment quietly watches Anders as he takes care of a plant.] So what are you doing now?
[In case Anders returns home some day and Vash needs to take over.]
no subject
Strengthening the spells for one. The more I strengthen them, the longer they'll last, even if I were to no longer be here.
[Which is not what he'd prefer, but he had to be realistic.]
It helps the plants grow and keeps them healthy. Plants function best with sunlight, so I need to mimic that as best as possible.
Would you like to water the blood lotus there? It takes quite a bit of water, so simply fill up that container nearby and pour the whole thing in.
[Vash might find a basin near the door with slowly melting ice floating in a pool of water. Despite the ice, it seems only slightly chilly. ~Magic~]
Next, I need to extract the pods from this flower. [He gestured to the only truly colorful plant in the room. It must be done carefully as it's poisonous and toxic both.]
no subject
Sure! I think I can handle that! [Vash gets the water, surprised to still see the ice. He thought it would have melted by now.] This is still cold. Is it okay to water plants with cold water? It won't shock them will it?
[Vash peers at the flower that Anders points out as he waters the plants. He asked about the cold water, but he also trusts Anders knows what he's doing. So he gets started pouring.] That's one of the poisonous ones, isn't it?
[He has a good memory at least and rarely asks the same question twice.]
no subject
Yeah, but if you're careful and don't eat it, it's fine. A lot of medicines are made from poisons. My magic depends on my energy, so if something happens to me, I want to make sure the ship is stocked with every potion it might need.
[That and, to be perfectly honest, he didn't trust most of the other doctors and their ability to heal people without hurting them.]
The ice is magic, it's being heated by magic to melt it and keep a steady supply, it won't hurt them- there we go.
[He pulled one of the pods free and set it in a dish nearby.]
And, I'm sorry my friend, but unless you've got some sort of magic abaility you haven't told me about, I'm afraid I can't teach you. I could write up a guide on each of the plants and their uses and how to care for them, if you'd like.
[After a moment, Anders extracted another pod and set it aside and then turned to Vash.]
I've noticed you've added some plants of your own, I've taken to tending them as well, if that's alright.

[Adalwolfe's whine comes from the hall even before he becomes visible in the clinic's doorway.]
I was this close to beating my own high score on Robot Unicorn and you hairy little beast decided that was the time to bat my communicator out of my hands.
[He sniffs, less from his lament over the lost score and more from his distraction by the stench of the brewing leaves.]
There's got to be something better smelling than those leaves for mana regeneration.
no subject
He wanted your attention.
[But he straightens up from what he's doing with a pleased smile a moment later and holds up the flask that now holds a deep green liquid.]
There we are! It's closer, at least!
And, yes, there is, it's called sleeping for a week, you've done it before remember?
no subject
[He smirks at Anders, leaning in the doorway and crossing his arms, then realizing the implications of what he said and looking a bit more furtive.]
Andraste's tits, I hope that never happens.

the garden
At this point he is just on his way back, his belly full of a sandwich and some very sweet wine.
But this is the first time he stumbles upon the garden. It still is odd to see green grow inside a floating iron box. Inside that garden is a man busying himself with moving pots around. He has seen him once or twice, probably greeted him when passing him but a month of sleep had made him forget.]
Good afternoon.
[He points at the plants and smiles a little.]
The garden on this ship is quite impressive, I must say.
no subject
All the same, he offers a smile, his voice taking on a note of pride at the compliment. It wasn't the most impressive garden the fleet sported, even the greenhouse he and Hermione had made was bigger, but he'd made this one first and by himself.]
Good afternoon and thank you, I've been working on it for the better part of two months or so. It used to be in my clinic but, luckily, this room wasn't needed so I took it over.
Are you looking for Jon?
no subject
Well done, ser. [He smiles and looks around him, admiring the pots and plants a little. Maybe this man had lemons as well. He could give them to Sansa.]
I just came back from seeing him. I am his brother, Robb. [He extends a hand so that the other man can shake it.] Robb Stark.

Or at you teasing my poor empty stomach?

He'd gotten used to the idea that they might only ever have paste or need to buy real meals from one of the bars instead, so the almost literal dinner bell surprises him. And scares Pounce bad enough to send the cat careening under Anders' desk with his tail poofed up.
Curious and perhaps a tad wary, the healer comes as called with a small look of amusement on his face.]
You know, they used to call cows that way in the village I grew up in. Are you insinuating something?

[He smirks.]
May I ask what you've made? Not that I don't intend to eat it with great enthusiasm, just curious.

He also visits the new garden that's been started in Wofle's old room. He's won another potted red germanium from the game room and instead of keeping it in his room he's adding it to the collection. He likes to sit in the room and just enjoy looking at the greenery. He will do this for hours sometimes. Occationally he'll be humming a a soft tune under his breath.]

Do you keep notes in your charts?
