[And sure enough, he'll soon be at the door, knocking on the frame. He might be a tiny bit concerned, and it's there in his tone.]

What's up?

[When he comes in, Allen is at his table. In front of him on the table, there's a medical case file that's open with several pages of it spread across the table. It's large, with a lot of papers stacked up. Allen is standing over it, his hands holding onto the table. He doesn't seem to be deep into reading it...more, just staring at it.]

[When Sokka knocks on the door, he'll look up from it, offering a smile]

Sokka, hello. Come on in. I didn't interrupt anything, did I?

[Because that sort of thing doesn't add to his worries at all. Please don't say you've turned crazy, Allen. He needs you to not be crazy. He enters, brow furrowed. ]

Nah, everything's running pretty okay at the moment. Everything okay with you?

[Haha oh don't worry Sokka. He was already crazy when you promoted him.]

I feel fine right now - don't worry. There's no emergency.

It's just....well, since you're my captain and that doesn't seem like it's going to change anytime soon - I feel it's time to tell you something I haven't mentioned yet. [He'll turn away from the papers and the table to fully face Sokka] About me.

[That is such a comfort. Sokka shuffles his feet awkwardly, before attempting a casual lean on the wall. It doesn't come across as casual at all.]

Okay, I'm listening.

[Cautious, but he's trying to be open minded about it. It's a thing he's been working on since digging Aang out of the iceberg. It's taken time. ]

Alright, well...

[He takes a deep breath. This is a subject that he hates talking about. A subject that he wishes he never had to think about.]

You see, I...suppose the best way to say it is...I'm sick? No, that's not quite it-

[He frowns, trying to think of how to phrase it without going knee-deep into either Exorcist babble or medical babble- neither of those were part of Sokka's world. He felt bad this had to touch his world at all.]

...You see, there's these...creatures, in my world. We call them Noah. They're very powerful, and very dangerous- and a lot of them, very sadistic. They've caused a lot of tragedy in my world.

But the worst part is, is that they seem to exist in this world by implanting "memories" into a host, eroding their mind and taking over their bodies. So if they're ever to be killed...they can bring themselves back to life by repeating that process with any person they had happened to implant their memory into before they died.

[He glances down at his hands in front of him]

I...found out I was a host when I was about seventeen.

[Sokka listens, carefully and quietly. At some point, he stops leaning on the wall, his arms still folded. He's aware that other worlds can be so very different, but he only really knows his own, so he tried to draw similarities when he can.]

Like an Avatar for chaos, rather than balance.

[It's murmured quietly, mostly to himself. He knows Aang could be very, very dangerous, were he to turn from what the Avatar exists for. Sokka has seen him in the Avatar State, and it's terrifying. If what Allen has is anything like that...well. ]

That's got to be pretty much the worst surprise present ever. [He's quiet, mulling things over. ] I'm guessing that whatever Noah you're attached to isn't dead yet? Seen as you're...uh, you and uh... murdering us, or anything.

[MASTER OF TACT.]

[Fortunately, he remembers Aang. He wasn't super close to the Avatar but...he was a friend. A friend who even helped him out a few times about this Noah problem, ironically. The fondness makes him forget that he was sorta neglecting to mention the fact he knew what an Avatar was]

Ah...that's actually not a bad way to think of it.

[He can't help but give the softest of amused sounds at Sokka's quip.]

Considering I was part of the Order devoted to fighting the Noah? You could say that again. [Even if the reason he left the Order weren't entirely related...he couldn't deny finding out about the 14th kind of ruined the life he had known.]

...No. He's dead. [His arms meanwhile cross. He doesn't really mind Sokka's lack of tact. It's frankly easier than when people get upset and emotional.] I started showing signs, but I got lucky and got taken to Paradisa before it was too late. Something about the magic there made sure it couldn't get worse - like the entire process got frozen in it's tracks.

And the good news is, from what I've observed and all the tests I've run on myself- the augment seems to be doing the same thing as the castle's magic. [If anything, it's doing an even better job of it. Which..kinda pisses him off considering how much he hates these augments]

[Sokka doesn't make note of it, not right away, anyway. There are more important things to consider, right now. ]

Huh. So you're not gonna be taken over by him any time soon? [He nods. That's good, at least.]

I'm guessing there's no easy way to sever the link altogether, or you would have done it already.

Hopefully not, I've lasted this long! [For maaany more years man] If something does change and I'm not myself, call Ino. She'll know what to do.

But you're right about that. Apparently, it works by rooting itself into a person's genetic code - er, the code inside you that determines things like skin color, height- things like that?

[Ergh, how do you explain genetics] - Either way, it's very hard to cure. But I haven't given up yet.

Call Ino. Right, I'll remember that.

[Sokka would 100% not be okay with the killing thing.]

I- have no idea what that is, but I'll take your word for it. I hope you figure it out one day, man.

[No one wants to become a monster.] Thanks for telling me.

[THIS IS WHY YOU DON'T GET TO DO THE KILLING THING. Plus you know, you're not a ninja.]

Ah, don't worry about it. [he rubs the back of his neck sheepishly] I'm far too used to talking like a medic.

[But he'll look over and smile at Sokka]

But...thank you, Sokka. I just thought you should know, since you're our captain. [a beat] And you're actually...taking this much better than most, I'll say.

[Not sure if that's great or not...!]

[He would be the worst ninja ever. ]

I appreciate it. [A shrug.] I've gone through the weirdest year ever, back home, so my ability to take weird stuff is way better than it used to be.

[He blinks a little]

Ah, I hope you mean that in a good, healthy way....

[And not some terrible means of coping because seriously, he's not 100% sure about Milla's ability as a therapist]

[Either way, he's happy. That went way smoother than he thought it would. And now he's not lying to his captain, yay! The rest of the crew...well, he'll figure that one out later.]

Anyway, that's all I really had to say about that, so...[What do] ...do you want to play a video game?

[God he has to actually consider this. ]

I think I'm good? I mean, I haven't broken down sobbing or sworn murderous vengeance on anyone or anything like that?

[Being more normal than most of your companions is not the same as actually being normal, Sokka.]

...What's a video game?

[Considering both of those things are things he does when he's upset enough, he's not sure how to feel about that. It's not like he actually goes through the murders most of the time okaaaay]

[WHATEVER OKAY FOCUSING ON THE VIDEO GAME-]

[...Game? How do you even describe it? How did people describe it to him?]

- It's probably better if I show you. Come on! [And he is walking across the clinic to a back corner that's not really easily seen from the entrance. A corner that looks SUSPICIOUSLY like someone's set up a video game system and sitting area]

[Sokka arches one eyebrow. ]

Following you to a creepy corner of your lab. This isn't suspicious at all.

[Still, his curiosity wins over his self preservation, as usual, and he heads over. ]

It's not the creepy corner. I don't even keep the blood here!

[But whatever at least there'll be no dying today! He picks up a controller and puts it into Sokka's hands before going to turn on the tv and stuff. When the screen comes on, it looks like it's some sort of cheerful Mario-like game.]

That's a controller. You use that to control what's happening on the screen by pushing the buttons. Mostly you're suppose to try to beat whatever objective the game has set out. Though this one is mostly...don't fall into cliffs or get attacked by turtles.

You keep blood?

[Okay but now he has a thing in his hands. Sokka stares at the screen, listening to that strange yet oddly catchy jingle, before looking back at the thing again. His engineer augment is kicking in, he could do this. Probably. ]

Why do the turtles want to kill the little red guy?

[Just gonna press a button. Boing ]

For transfusions. And vampires, if we ever get any. [Because that's a rational normal explanation]

[He meanwhile picks up his own controller and selects the two player option as he sits on the ground- a little green guy popping up]

I think because they work for the bigger turtle that kidnapped the princess. Or they're just jerks. This one's never very clear on its plot.

[And while he's chatting, he's just going to make his guy jump up and knock one of the blocks that contained a mushroom- whoo big green guy]

Vampires?!!!!! [No, wait. ] What's a transfusion?

So he's eating mushrooms and somehow that makes him bigger?

[He'll just...jump on a turtle and then get pasted by a shell.]

Is everything trying to kill you in this game?!!

[Sokka yelling in his ear startles him enough that he screws up his jump and falls down a cliff] - Ah! Sokka!

Not everything! Just most things!

[A huff as he waits for his character to respawn]

A transfusion is when someone loses a lot of blood, a medic put more blood into them so they don't die of blood loss. It saves a lot of lives.

And yes, vampires. They need to drink blood to survive, so in Paradisa, the clinic would supply them blood to drink so they wouldn't attack people. [a slight click of his tongue] It was usually just pig's blood though - much safer that way.

[If he knew how he'd screwed you over, he might crow about it, but he doesn't. ]

...How do they put blood in them? Is it like bloodbending?

That isn't creepy at all. Gee. So happy now I know those exist.
