Ah, don't worry about it. [he rubs the back of his neck sheepishly] I'm far too used to talking like a medic.
[But he'll look over and smile at Sokka]
But...thank you, Sokka. I just thought you should know, since you're our captain. [a beat] And you're actually...taking this much better than most, I'll say.
[Not sure if that's great or not...!]
no subject
I appreciate it. [A shrug.] I've gone through the weirdest year ever, back home, so my ability to take weird stuff is way better than it used to be.
no subject
Ah, I hope you mean that in a good, healthy way....
[And not some terrible means of coping because seriously, he's not 100% sure about Milla's ability as a therapist]
[Either way, he's happy. That went way smoother than he thought it would. And now he's not lying to his captain, yay! The rest of the crew...well, he'll figure that one out later.]
Anyway, that's all I really had to say about that, so...[What do] ...do you want to play a video game?
no subject
I think I'm good? I mean, I haven't broken down sobbing or sworn murderous vengeance on anyone or anything like that?
[Being more normal than most of your companions is not the same as actually being normal, Sokka.]
...What's a video game?
1/2
[Considering both of those things are things he does when he's upset enough, he's not sure how to feel about that. It's not like he actually goes through the murders most of the time okaaaay]
I see.
no subject
A video game? It's a-
[...Game? How do you even describe it? How did people describe it to him?]
- It's probably better if I show you. Come on! [And he is walking across the clinic to a back corner that's not really easily seen from the entrance. A corner that looks SUSPICIOUSLY like someone's set up a video game system and sitting area]
no subject
Following you to a creepy corner of your lab. This isn't suspicious at all.
[Still, his curiosity wins over his self preservation, as usual, and he heads over. ]
no subject
[But whatever at least there'll be no dying today! He picks up a controller and puts it into Sokka's hands before going to turn on the tv and stuff. When the screen comes on, it looks like it's some sort of cheerful Mario-like game.]
That's a controller. You use that to control what's happening on the screen by pushing the buttons. Mostly you're suppose to try to beat whatever objective the game has set out. Though this one is mostly...don't fall into cliffs or get attacked by turtles.
no subject
[Okay but now he has a thing in his hands. Sokka stares at the screen, listening to that strange yet oddly catchy jingle, before looking back at the thing again. His engineer augment is kicking in, he could do this. Probably. ]
Why do the turtles want to kill the little red guy?
[Just gonna press a button. Boing ]
no subject
[He meanwhile picks up his own controller and selects the two player option as he sits on the ground- a little green guy popping up]
I think because they work for the bigger turtle that kidnapped the princess. Or they're just jerks. This one's never very clear on its plot.
[And while he's chatting, he's just going to make his guy jump up and knock one of the blocks that contained a mushroom- whoo big green guy]
no subject
So he's eating mushrooms and somehow that makes him bigger?
[He'll just...jump on a turtle and then get pasted by a shell.]
Is everything trying to kill you in this game?!!
1/2
Not everything! Just most things!

A transfusion is when someone loses a lot of blood, a medic put more blood into them so they don't die of blood loss. It saves a lot of lives.
And yes, vampires. They need to drink blood to survive, so in Paradisa, the clinic would supply them blood to drink so they wouldn't attack people. [a slight click of his tongue] It was usually just pig's blood though - much safer that way.
no subject
...How do they put blood in them? Is it like bloodbending?
That isn't creepy at all. Gee. So happy now I know those exist.
no subject
[Yet.]
And no, it's not bending or magic. To put it simply, a needle connected to a tube gets inserted into a vein, while the other side of the tube gets connected to a bag of blood! Then slowly, the blood in the bag drains into the patient's vein - replenishing the blood they lost.
no subject
[Boing, boing, totally sucking at this game. ]
Huh.I didn't think people could do that. The marvels of modern science. I always knew it was better than magic.
no subject
Yeah.. Earth doesn't have much in the way of healing magics, so we found other ways. Sometimes it works even better. [Yeah you're sucks. He snorts] ...Perhaps it's good I didn't start you on a fighting game- I would've kicked your arse.
no subject
We usually have to do what we can, too. I mean, Katara can heal, lots of waterbenders can, but otherwise we're on our own.
[SCUSE YOU!!! ]
I happen to be an excellent fighter thank you very much. I would have kicked butt.
[No. No Sokka you wouldn't. ]
no subject
[He teases him, in a light tone]
Oh? So turtles are just your one weakness then?
no subject
[His tone is quiet on that one, and he quickly moves onto another topic. It's not a fun one.]
They can really peck hard, y'know!
no subject
[y-yeah. He remembers hearing mentions of the war in that world. So he will not. poke him about it for now.]
They move at snail's pace! [srsly Sokka] Here- hit the bottom of that box with the question mark. Maybe you'll get something to help you.
no subject
I don't think a anything labelled with a question mark could be helpful. It's more "what is this? who knowwwws! It's a mystery, hit the mystery box!!!"
[Still, he'll hit it anyway. He's curious. ]
Oh it's a mushroom.
[Mushy giant friend. ]
no subject
[Gosh Sokka]
Oh! Grab it! If you're big, it takes two hits to die.
no subject
[He'll grab it and watch as blep-blep-blep (or whatever sound it makes idek I was a Sega child) as his little plumber grows. ]
And Katara said nothing good ever came from eating weird plantlife.
no subject
[Games made of pure evil that's what those are.]
Well...she's not wrong. You probably don't want to eat a strange mushroom that's moving around in real life.
