well, where i live we travel place to place, kinda like the fleet does

every now and then we'll stop on a waystation, and there'll be some guy hawking what he swears is an alien in a jar, and charge you 12 bits to come gawp at it like :O WHOA only it's a fake alien

that's a sideshow attraction

where the whole purpose is for people to come in and gawp

oh! there are similar things like that as well where i am from. groups who travel saying that they have this or that and one can pay gold to see it

i travel like the fleet does as well, but by foot. there is no technology like this in my world

it's the kinda life i love, but it definitely ain't for everyone. my home ship back home's called Serenity and we transport goods

once our cargo hold was full of cows for a month

yup, i just went from one galaxy to the other, pretty much. serenity looks kinda like one of the ships in the fleet, too.

they're a pain to transport, let me tell you. lots of poop.

yeah, and i'm a ship's mechanic back home besides. so if nothing else i can keep us in the sky!!!

cows taste good when they'r steak, but when they're alive, they can be a bit of a pest

that is certainly a relief. i do not know if the last one knew what he was doing or not, or if that was even his job. he was quite strange

i cant say ive ever had steak, i dont eat a lot of meat

which is a shame, i'm not sure why atroma'd put someone in that position if they didn't care to do the job. of course, i guess not every ship has a mechanic

i don't get a chance to eat it often either, we're stuck with protein a lot of the time like we got here since fresh food is expensive and doesn't keep well on a long trip

well the implant is meant to offer information to do the job, is it not? so at least they are not completely blind going in

goodness, i thought that was exclusive to here. but no, meat does not keep well. i travel by foot often, so i will bring things that are easy to pack and wont go bad quickly

true and being able to do the job doesn't mean you want to do it or will have any love for doing it

i love to work on ships but lord knows it aint the job for everybofy

i'm used to meals coming in cube or gel form back home, too, at least here the stuff has flavor

that is a very good way to put it. i am tactical on our ship and while it is a bit useless, it is suiting when it is necessary. my work history, you could call it, comes in handy

you mean there are gel things that taste worse than this? gross

there you go. i'm just glad i did get something as suits me, i'm not great at being a pilot or anything like that

it's not that they taste bad, really, there's just not much taste at all. i can make it taste good if i got seasonings and stuff, but sometimes we're too poor for even that much

i would not know the first thing about your job or piloting, so i am glad we have lucked out when it comes to that. even if the old man has left

that is what i have to do with the vegetable gels, when i actually cook them. i found seasonings on one of the other planets

and i'm glad to be here. would be awful if we had, like, 4 engineers competing for the same job ;)

i'll have to look, once we're planetside again! can't wait to see where else we go next

oh yeah, they can get REAL serious about their favorite equipment and engine types and tools and whatnot. i say as long as it works, who cares?? but we like to show pride in our work too i guess
