Hey, um... [He rubs the back of his neck, trying to figure out how to say this]

Listen, I know lots of people have been having problems. You know, like trouble with the gravity or powers switching or water splashing, or...other stuff. People are saying it's the augments, but...

[He swallows] Truth is, it's me.

Something's up with my powers and they're setting off on their own. I'm working on getting them to stop, and I know anything that happens will probably wear off after awhile. I mean, it usually does! Not that it fixes anything or excuses it, but-

[He stops himself with a sigh. This is not what he wanted to say. He clears his throat and tries again]

I'm sorry. That's all what I wanted to say. I'm sorry. For all of it.

Sorry.

[And with that, he reaches over and turns off the feed

So uh, what're your powers?

[Not that it's his fault something bad happened 500 years ago. If anything blame some Professor Willow for shoving all those pidgeys in a candy grinder for no reason YEESH]

When you say 'psychic'...what does that mean?

[ his mind was already poked at by one telepath, he's not eager for a repeat experience. ]

Nothing like reading minds or telepathy! I'm not that good.

They just...cause the kinda mess that's going on right now?

So...you can't control it. You don't know what you'll be capable of if you work at it?

[ on the one hand: superhero training hell yeah! on the other...does he want another guy capable of reading his mind out there? ]

Mmhmm. Not a clue.

[Come on Winn, like he'd understand half the geeky references you think anyway]

[ he thinks a lot more than geeky references thank you very much! some of them are cool. ]

Has anyone ever talked to you about how to control it? [ all his experience is with physical superpowers. ]

Sure, vague stuff. Breath, count to 10, keep calm...

It hasn't been working so well.

[ muttered, that sounds like terrible advice. ]

It's gotta be more than just being calm. I know plenty of people with superpowers and none of them are zen masters.

I'm sure! It's just-

They're emotion-based, I think. If I get sad, gravity gets really heavy. If I get scared, sometimes things blow up. Stuff like that.

So people figure if keep my emotions in check somehow, my powers won't go off so much. But it's not like I can stop feeling things.

No, that's just a bandaid, and those never stick.

[ he's getting the urge to sing let it go here, really. ]

What you need is to accept and understand your powers, figure out how to channel them, control them even when you're sad or scared or angry or anything. Bottling up feelings just means that when the explosion happens it'll be a really bad one.

You mean it could get worse than this?

[That's a worrying thought]

But, sure, okay. But how do I even go about doing that? Just...try to feel mad and then try to stop the power from going off?

[ he already did, on a public feed, with cisco. ]

Uh, maybe for a start try to figure out if you can activate the power when you're not overly emotional - it'll teach you how it works and you can try to build on that when you're worked up.

Hmm...okay. I've never been able to activate them before when I'm calm, but I can give it another shot.

That is, when I calm down.

[ they are a pair of glorious nerds. ]

What usually helps you calm down?

[He has the urge to snark "not having powers going off uncontrollably", but he bites back on it since Winn does seem to be trying to help.]

My friends, of course. And Simba- he's a Shinx. But I left him back on the Huntress.

[ winn. winn, focus. clearing his throat. ]

I mean. Um, what do you usually do with your friends? Maybe I can fill in til they turn up.

Yeah. I got him back at that hand-holding planet. At the big tree?

[He pauses as he considers that. There's a lot of things he does with his friends. Different things for each friend, because they were different. There wasn't such a thing as "filling in" to Sora. Each one was unique and important to him.

So, after a moment he shakes his head]

That's okay. I don't expect anyone to fill in for my friends.

[Then he offers a smile]

But- how about you tell me about yourself? Then we could be friends!

Cool, I got my phone from there. [ he nods ] That was a good stop.

[ he didn't mean to imply that he could replace them, just try to do the kind of distracting things that work with them. ]

Sure - yeah. Uh, I'm Winn Schott and I always forget to introduce myself. I run the uh, lecture series on the Iskaulit with my friend Cisco. Aaaaand - you're gonna have to give me some direction here cuz I'm prone to babbling -
