[She came, she saw, she stole a bunch of stuff, she left. Makie isn't surprised by Lilly vanishing so quickly, and in some ways she thinks it's better-- these ships are too stark, too cooped up, for such a free-roaming child. She tells herself that. It's fine. It's fine.

It's not fine.

The broadcast is from Lilly's room, where Lilly's own things have gone-- leaving the leftover mess on the floor, bits of clothing, other stolen belongings. They're taken from across the Fleet, and Makie reaches down to tug a shirt free, folding it neatly. She'll organise this stuff. But she turned on the broadcast for a reason.]

If any of these items belong to you, please tell me. [Her voice sounds hollow to her own ears, and she pauses. Much quieter:] I'll arrange to get them back to you.

[She'll leave the feed on at least long enough for people to look over what's strewn around the floor. And then she'll stay in the room, sorting through the mess mechanically. It gives her something to do.

[...she's not sure how to answer that. Rationally, logically, it's better for Lilly that she went home. It's not like Lilly will miss her with time working the strange way it does. Life goes on, they get their contentment.

I liked having her here. I'd only just grown used to the idea, and they sent her away again.

They are... I think colossal assholes is the technical term.

[Makie huffs tiredly at that, but she can see the humour in it.]

I shall have to remember that for the future. One must always be accurate with their insults.

I would love to hear you say that sometime. [Smiling as she folds.] Is that my...? [Pulling a shirt she got on the hand-holding planet out of the pile.] Huh.

[Heh. Makie smiles ruefully.] I would say it meant she liked you, but I have no real idea why she chose what to take or not. Is it in one piece?

Seems to be. [She gives it a quick look over.] She ripped some things up?

Not that I've seen so far, but she's a small child. They can be rather careless.

[Some things are a little grubby, but nothing that can't be fixed with reasonable ease. She tugs free a long fold of pale green material which is literally all it is; left over from her kimono commission months ago.]

I knew this was here. It didn't seem necessary to retrieve it.

If it comforted her I don't mind that she had something of mine either. I have more than enough here.
