Hey, everyone- for those who haven't met me, I'm Dr. Keller, medical officer on the Wonderduck. And even if we have spoken in the past, I've got a favor to ask- specifically, of anyone who has any sort of medical training or healing magic or the like. See, Dr. McCoy made the suggestion of having a list of people with such abilities handy in case of an emergency, and I agree wholeheartedly.

I've created a document- here on the network- and I'd appreciate it if anyone who is a healer of some sort could fill it out. It's just the basics- your name, what ship you're on, and what your abilities are. Even if you've just been taking first aid lessons from me, it's still valuable to know.

I know it can be hard to think about, but we never know what Atroma might be cooking up for us next. So it's important to have an idea of who can be directed where, if it ever comes to the point where we have a mass casualty event. A few minutes can make all the difference.

I'd appreciate that, thank you. If you can spare any for the other ships, that would set my mind at ease, too. It makes my skin crawl that some of them don't have medbays.

They'll be my first priority. They've all got first-aid kits, right?

[He hopes so. Between Allen and Jennifer's efforts, most of the Fleet should have the basics around.]

I believe that's standard for ships without a medbay, yes- but I'll make sure to verify that. Better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it.

You're welcome. It's something I've been meaning to do for a while, but discussing it with Dr. McCoy kicked my butt into gear. I want it taken care of now, while we're in a peaceful stretch of space.

... But I also hope we'll never need it. I'd rather every ship have at least a proper medbay, ideally with a doctor or experienced mage installed, but wishing won't give us our ideal situation. And a medbay's not much use if nobody aboard knows how to use it properly. Even the augments can only do so much.

Exactly. I've got a long way before I can call myself a medical doctor, and even when I get there? We're still short.

[When, not if, because he's determined to make up for his lack of experience and training via medical lessons.]

If you need any help, let me know. It's seriously the least I can do.

But I'll still rest a bit easier at night when that happens.

Absolutely. I also would like to know which ships DO have medbays, so I can cross-reference which ones have medical personnel on board. Since my Iskaulit clinic idea may never happen, we need to know where injured people can be sent.

Good idea. It won't be a perfect overlap, since uh, I know people who have training but a completely different augment.

[Atroma logic at its finest, really.]

You might wanna note it on the document somewhere? That's the best I can think of for now.

Because Atroma's just got to do everything they can to complicate things, right? But I'll do that. At least the augments don't make us lose anything.

Given how many of us have turned into little kids over the past year, I think that's already in their repertoire.

It's a totally different beast. Memory loss is - it sucks, and we already know Atroma's capable of it.

I'd just, you know, let them think about something else.

... yeah. Like, say, a planet that's nothing but all-you-can-eat buffets.

Nah, that would be a distraction, like the game room. [beat] Though I'd probably give it a once-over, just in case.

Mmhmm. At the very least, it'd be a pleasant distraction, and sometimes being well-fed can do wonders for one's ability to think. Plus, crowds make it easier to have discreet conversations, if need be.

It's Atroma. That need's never really going to disappear.

Right. Even if you don't necessarily believe there's a television show... it's best to assume they're always listening.

[She lets out a small noise of frustration.]

So even my trying to do something to help in case of a crisis could end badly. But I also can't NOT do something while I'm able. It's a catch-22.

Better to try and fail than not at all. Come on, Jen - you know I didn't mean it like that.

Oh, I know you didn't. [The smile in her voice can be heard.] I'd rather speak about it and be prepared than do nothing and find us in the midst of a bunch of sick or injured people with nothing to show for it. I can't afford NOT to try.

Exactly. The effort matters just as much with this place, and you're gonna put the rest of us to shame at this point.

You know how to make me blush. [This is said in a teasing way.] I wish I'd done it sooner, but I kept putting it off for one reason or the other. No more. I'm going to take the bull by the horns.
