Hey, everyone- for those who haven't met me, I'm Dr. Keller, medical officer on the Wonderduck. And even if we have spoken in the past, I've got a favor to ask- specifically, of anyone who has any sort of medical training or healing magic or the like. See, Dr. McCoy made the suggestion of having a list of people with such abilities handy in case of an emergency, and I agree wholeheartedly.

I've created a document- here on the network- and I'd appreciate it if anyone who is a healer of some sort could fill it out. It's just the basics- your name, what ship you're on, and what your abilities are. Even if you've just been taking first aid lessons from me, it's still valuable to know.

I know it can be hard to think about, but we never know what Atroma might be cooking up for us next. So it's important to have an idea of who can be directed where, if it ever comes to the point where we have a mass casualty event. A few minutes can make all the difference.

My name is Maggie and I'm the lab support for the SS Golden. What is it you want to know and do you really think a 'mass casualty event' is likely?

[Jennifer smiled back briefly, but turned all business.]

Just a brief description of what you know- or you can be as detailed as you want. I'm a medical doctor, but I know some others have had other medical training, or taught themselves basics- wound care and the like.

As far as your second question... I don't 100% trust Atroma to not do SOMETHING. A disease outbreak, a crashed ship... I'd rather be paranoid than find ourselves in the middle of a lot of sick or injured people and be disorganized and possibly lose lives because of it.

Does workin' as a farm hand count? My dad was a veterinarian and I helped him tend to the animals on our farm. I know first aid too and all that.

[She nods.]

Paranoid is good at times. Paranoid keeps us alive. So does being prepared, so I think you got the right idea. Whatever I can do to help, I'll try.

I can do field level stuff. You know-- everything up to setting bones. That might be helpful in a pinch.

I know a little basic field medicine, but I'm not sure it'll be much use without medi-gel available.

Anything you can contribute will still be helpful. I've never heard of medi-gel, though. What does it do?

Hmm. If you'd like, I can help you translate what you know to humans. Shouldn't be too much of a stretch.

[She smiled.]

I appreciate it. As the old saying goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Atroma is a wild card, especially because we just don't know what they're up to at any given point.

I hear you. Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. It's how I operated back home.

I'd appreciate that, thank you. If you can spare any for the other ships, that would set my mind at ease, too. It makes my skin crawl that some of them don't have medbays.

I still appreciate it. Any little bit can help, especially if we're in crisis mode.

I'll drink to that. I'd feel at least a little better if every ship had a stocked med bay, but then again, it's of limited use if there's nobody there who knows how to use it.

It would, definitely. Since we're short on medical doctors, it'd be helpful to have the patients with more minor injuries taken care of, even if myself or Beverly or Dr. McCoy can't help right away. Lessen the risk of infection and whatnot.

I'm always willing to take on new students.

I can use fire. Cauterize wounds. And make potions for healing but I don't think I could find the ingredients here. I'm a quick study though.

It's a bio-engineered salve we apply to wounds. It has anesthetics and clotting agents and other things that help with rapid healing. Seals any wounds closed until it can be seen to. And it can help with minor illnesses as well. Pretty amazing stuff, really.

They'll be my first priority. They've all got first-aid kits, right?

[He hopes so. Between Allen and Jennifer's efforts, most of the Fleet should have the basics around.]

Hmmm... have you been over to the Iskaulit yet? There's a garden that may be of help- we grow all sorts of plants and whatnot over there.

Wow. I'd love to get my hands on some of that stuff... sounds handy. It'd make my job a whole lot easier.

I believe that's standard for ships without a medbay, yes- but I'll make sure to verify that. Better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it.

Iskaulit? Uh, no. I just kind of got to... [Haaaang on] The Windrose?

We can just visit other ships then?
