Hello everyone. I know this is rather sudden, but this Saturday I've rented out a space in the Hotel to hold a Holiday Party for the Fleet. It seems that a lot of worlds have celebrations around this time of year, and I thought it would be nice for us all to get together and share them, and just be able to enjoy each other's company in a space that feels less like a sardine can. Even if you don't celebrate anything, please come and grace us with your company.

The party will start at 7, but by all means come as you can. There will be a buffet and a bar - please get yourself a hotel room and not use the shuttles to go home if you do drink, by the way.

So come out and enjoy yourselves. I hope to see you there.

Saturday - The Party
<sub>[ The party is held in a large and spacious club-like space, but it is well lit and there is a mix of small tables and an open area for dancing set up. Music drifts over some speakers, with a pre-selected list already programmed in, and not so loud that one couldn't talk to your neighbor, but loud enough to sway to the beat if you desired. The space is decorated in tones of white and gold, a touch of festivity without really nodding towards any one particular celebration.

A bar is staffed by two of the hotel bar tenders and alcohol is plentifully stocked along with non-alcoholic choices. The buffet ran along one wall, piled with meats, vegetables, fruits, and sweets - everything to suit anyone who might come.

Perhaps... Though I confess it is an odd time for a feast from my perspective regardless.

Oh, right. You probably don't know what Christmas is, do you?

I have learned somewhat from the many posts on the network, but it is most certainly unfamiliar.

Yeah. It's a big deal in a lot of worlds, seems like, even for people who aren't religious.

[foxpas]

I understand... The traditions of my home are important, even if I have trouble being religious myself lately. Belief or no, familiar rituals bring comfort.

[robitussin]

I think most people use it as an excuse to get presents and eat a bunch of food at this point, and it's not like I'm going to complain about free food.

[gestures at the buffet table]

Case in point. What were your holidays like?

[foxpas]

Ah... Well, the new year is celebrated with a grand feast, of course. Everyone comes together to celebrate, among the village and then with family. But the week before is a time of fasting and prayer.

But with no days or nights, nor sun to measure the seasons by, it is difficult to know when the fast or feast should happen.

I mean, it's a little easier to tell if you go on the planet... But I also don't want to freeze to death, so. You could always go by the date we use in the Fleet.

[foxpas]

That is true... I should adapt to that.

And it is true. The planet is too cold even for me.

I'm not really into rocking the whole parka look, especially when the hotel is actually halfway decent.

Have you been enjoying it so far?

[foxpas]

I have! There is a place I have seen, I believe it was called a "spa"? It had endless hot water, as well as rooms for training and ways to deal with fatigue after. It is amazing!

Oh, man, I guess you wouldn't have seen a spa before. Time to go there approximately fifty times before we leave here, huh?
