Who: Kubo and You
Broadcast: Video
Action: SS Marsiva
When:
[ Kubo wakes up with a jerk, fumbling around before he realizes it's not dark. The fire isn't lit and — this wasn't the cave he grew up in. Groping around, Kubo felt the solid presence of his shamisen, the two strings intact and breathes a sigh of relief. Then he carefully slips off the bed, slinging it over his back. With his one eye, he looked around. And pinches himself. ]
Okay. Not dead. Where am I? This isn't the Heavens . . . is it?
[ He had been sure everything had been settled, but Kubo hadn't exactly had time to learn the exact nature of what lingers above. ]

Definitely a pig. I don't know many people who could match up to him.

It was an interesting story. Thank you for sharing it with me.

I hope so too.

With all the people you'll meet here, I'm sure you'll have a lot of new characters and stories to write. The people here are fascinating, from all over the world and even from worlds beyond ours.

[ His voice cracks. ]
What if I tell it badly and don't do justice to the people who gave them to me?

They're — They're all I have now.

[He smiles faintly.]
And soon you will have much more than just stories.

What would I have?

We're all in this together, especially people like us who come from a far and distant time.

Does everyone on the Fleet believe that?
no subject
Most do. At least most of the people I've met have.

[To heal from whatever trauma he's undergone. Perhaps the loss of his family? It seems he's still reeling from that.]
And there's no rush. You won't be meeting your new crewmates for awhile yet, and after that you'll have all the time you need to settle in.

Like babysitting.
[He winks.]
I could use a hand with that, if you're up for it.
