[he's not expecting gourmet food when he heads for the kitchen- actually, he's not expecting anything. though he probably should have; people must get bored, being confined to these things all day for weeks on end. cooking is something to do.

still, when he spots the kitchen occupied he stops in the doorway. is she the cook, or cooking for herself?]

[She looks up from her concoction. She could only assume this was a new crewmate - either that or a visitor to one her current crew. Either way, she didn't recognize the man. She smiles. It's a small, soft pull at the corner of her lips; she's a weathered woman and isn't one for brazen emotions unless under great duress, but her edges have softened some in her time here.]

No, come on it. Are you hungry?

I could eat. [aizawa you could just say 'yes'

he lets himself in and sits down at the table, peering around at all the contraptions and dispensers in the kitchen, a mixture of recognizable utensils and strange apparatuses.]

Do you cook for the ship, or just for fun?

Just for fun. We used to have someone who enjoyed making food for others with fresh ingrediants. It's not a bad habit to get into. [Thing is Furiosa is still getting used to preparing food like that. She didn't have the benefit of available resources out in the Wastelands, and had pretty much been subsisting on the protein paste until Lily got there. She pulls a second bowl from the cupboard.]

I'm Furiosa, First Breath's Captain and Pilot.

[so there's fresh food on these things? aizawa can't help but think it's probably not a common occurrence.]

Aizawa, new lab support. Good to meet you. [so she's the captain...] Need any assistance there, Captain? [the titles seem more or less arbitrary, but he's not about to dismiss that out of hand. she definitely doesn't carry herself like some puffed-up civilian, anyway.]

[There is if you grow it. If he's seen what Tyrion's done in Engineering he'll see where some of it comes from, and if he gets a chance to visit Iskaulet he'll see the gardens being grown there.]

No, I've got it under control. [She goes back to cutting up some of the vegetables she'd procured and dumping them into a put with some basic soup stock. It's nothing fancy, but it does beat the protein pastes.]

Is this very different, from where you came from?

The space travel, yeah. [he'll probably see those gardens eventually, he plans to memorize this ship and all common spaces in the fleet asap.] Everything else...surprisingly similar.

I'm not about to have a mental breakdown, at least. [so that's one less thing for furiosa to worry about.] Do people usually have difficulty adjusting?

Some more than others, but the augment helps people understand. [She remembers her own arrival, trying to keep Nux from piloting his shuttle into the nearby sun in the name of Valhalla.]

[And speaking of augments ...] What position did you get?

Lab support. [aizawa laces his fingers together and leans forward, elbows on the table.] I locked the ordering consoles to you and myself. I hope that won't be an issue. [considering that now that he's here and the consoles are active any joe schmoe could conceivably come along and order two quarts of nitroglycerinm he thinks it's probably a good idea.]

[She nods, stirring the soup and adding some spices.]

That's a good idea.

[Sets the spoon aside and adjusts the heat, letting it simmer for a bit as she thinks,] I'd like to extend that to Tyrion Lannister. He's our engineer, but he does a lot for the ship and the crew.

[expellerhead]

You're the boss. [an engineer probably could use free control over what chemicals get ordered, after all. besides, it's not like she couldn't just override him completely and give free access herself; it just works out better this way.] Any other things I should know? Rules and regulations?

[She thinks about that for a moment, then shrugs.]

Don't be a schlenger.

[the way she says it implies a meaning that requires no explanation]

Alright. Nice and casual. [he can do that. he can also leave her alpine with the questions already. she's not unfriendly, but he gets the feeling she doesn't do a whole lot of chitchat, which is perfect.]

[She's definitely from the more tight-lipped side of things, and lapses into silence as she finishes the soup and ladels it into the two bowls. She drops a spoon in one and slides it over to him, and cups the other in her hand and leans back against the counter to eat.]

[the silence is nice, actually. he nods in thanks when she passes him a bowl, and takes the quiet moment between them as they eat to collect himself and try to wrap his mind around everything.

he's halfway through his soup when he asks around a mouthful,] Do the rankings and roles actually mean anything here?
