[yup he's totally locking them order consoles, though he doesn't seem keen to change anything else about the lab.]


[ACTION - STARSTRUCK]

[an unbelievably scruffy man has decided to visit, and is ambling through the halls like he's innately familiar with the place looking for his student.

he's lost.]

[aizawa takes everything in- her straight shoulders, guarded expression, the way she's got herself situated in the hallway for interception despite being out of arm's reach- and comes to the immediate conclusion of professional. professional what, it doesn't matter, but uraraka hadn't mentioned anything about being in any danger on her ship.

aizawa slowly takes his hands out of his pockets to scratch at the scruff on his neck.]

Aizawa. I'm looking for a student of mine from home, Uraraka Ochako. I'll wait here if you want to confirm with her yourself.

[mucked]

[ -- she offers up no hesitation in taking a moment to drink him in. watch him with an appraising eye. ordinarily, she isn't quick to screen visitors for others on the crew, but ochako's young. and if he is indeed a teacher of hers, then he likely won't mind if she makes good on his offer. ]

Carter. [ she names herself. ] I didn't realize she had someone else from home in the fleet. You must be new.

[expellerhead]

[there's always that tense moment of people sizing each other up, but it looks like all's well here. aizawa shoves his hands back into his pockets.]

That's right. I've spoken to her since, but she doesn't know I'm here right now. [mostly because he'd like to keep his movements off the comms wherever possible, in the very unlikely case that they really aren't being monitored 24/7]

Are you an officer? ['cause you seem like you would be]

[mucked]

[ a hum of confirmation. ]

Captain, actually. [ but she says it without any hint of bravado. although she takes the rank quite seriously, peggy's acutely aware of how happenstance and random selection are more at fault for her captaincy than anything else. she knows she didn't earn it like the earned other things. of course, that said, her seems-like-an-officer style certainly pre-dates the fleet. ]

You'll have to forgive the mild interrogation. [ she pauses, like trying to decide how much to explain. ] One of the other ships had a violent intruder not long ago. Can't take too many risks. Not even here.

[expellerhead]

Of course. [his student's on this ship, after all. and uraraka might've thought there wasn't much obvious danger, but even something as small as a 'violent intruder' means a lot when you're responsible for someone else's daughter.] Anything else you'd like to know?

[mucked]

Only what you're willing to tell, I suppose. [ ... ] I assume you weren't assigned to the Starstruck. Where were you assigned?

[expellerhead]

First Breath. [he leans against a bulkhead.] I'd appreciate it if that didn't get too far, though.

[mucked]

Fair enough. [ but it's a good answer, clearly. and peggy decides a conversation with furiosa might be in order. ] We've got a decent working relationship with the First Breath. Your Captain visits often enough -- but I'll not go gossiping about your assignment. You have my word.

[ not least of all because it's a pretty dull thing to gossip about. ]

I appreciate it. [the low profile isn't just a preference, it's a necessity. ...but also a big huge preference.] I'm the lab support there, if it means anything. And I've met the Captain, so she should know who you're asking about.

[mucked]

[ a slow nod. ]

Our pilot on the Starstruck comes from the same world, so to speak, as Captain Furiosa. Mind him if you come across him in the shuttle bay, however -- he doesn't always socialize well.

[expellerhead]

So noted. Thanks for the heads up.

[speaking of socializing...]

Has Uraraka been all right?

[mucked]

[ hmm. she doesn't much like the prospect of dishing out intel on anyone's behaviour. so she chooses her truths carefully. ]

I've found her to be a rather optimistic creature. [ if not always a happy one. ]

A good assessment. [yeah, that's possibly more obvious than the fact that her hair is brown. but whatever, he'll find out himself in a minute]

Well, if that's all, I don't want to take up any more of your time...

[mucked]

Certainly. [ she won't delay him. and in truth, the ship is small enough that should anything go amiss, she won't be far off. indeed, peggy decides she might just stop by the shuttle bay so as to catch him when he leaves. make sure everything went well. ] By no means, don't let me keep you from your reunion.

[ and indeed -- if he wants to speak to her again (or not) she'll later be found in the shuttle bay. inspecting a shuttle, perhaps. ]

[how convenient, because he has to come back here and use a shuttle to return to his ship anyway. though honesty what's the point? he didn't ask for this assignment, he could just stay here the entire time.

...there's a thought.] I didn't see anybody in your labs when I passed by. [when he specifically checked, the fucker]

[ peggy grabs hold of one of the shuttle's doorways as she swings free. in truth, she was checking in on some of the weaponry she knows max has stashed inside the smaller vessel. but when she sees the visitor, she abandons that small chore. she'd been waiting for him on purpose, after all. ]

That's because we're currently lacking a crew-member with that sort of augment. [ honest. direct. in effect, she can already see where he's headed with a subject like this one. it doesn't surprise her. ]

I'd like to transfer then, if you've got the space. I'm assuming that has to be done through official channels. [y'know like their kidnappers]

Have you and your student discussed that possibility?

[ they certainly had the space. and need, really, of some decent lab support. provided the girl in question does want him aboard, peggy won't stand in the way of a transfer. ]

We have. I didn't think she'd object, but she at least won't have any issues with it. [Carter might go confirm it herself, but whatever. Aizawa pops the door for his shuttle.] So you know, if I do end up here then her well-being will take priority. I wouldn't just up and leave somebody to bleed out on the table but just so you know.

We function like a family aboard the Starstruck, Mister Aizawa. [ it sounds at first as though she's warning him. scolding him.

but: ] All of us are keen to look out for the better interests of our younger shipmates. Luckily for you, the majority of the adults are more than capable of looking after themselves -- your 'prioritizing', as you so ably put it, likely won't hurt.

[ but does she think a little less of a person because of it? possibly. she's always had the greater good hammered into her behaviour. sacrifice an agent to save a nation. things like that. ]

[aizawa shrugs, reluctant to give peggy much on this front. he's a professional hero who works best in obscurity so a lot of that 'prioritizing' thing is talk. and uraraka is more than capable of looking after herself, but it's not like he wants to advertise that either.] Glad to hear it.

Then I'll put in the request when I get back to my ship.
