[yup he's totally locking them order consoles, though he doesn't seem keen to change anything else about the lab.]


[ACTION - STARSTRUCK]

[an unbelievably scruffy man has decided to visit, and is ambling through the halls like he's innately familiar with the place looking for his student.

he's lost.]

[ peggy carter keeps a fairly tidy ship. she tends to keep a close(ish) eye on the comings and goings. so when a different scruffy man shows up, she's quick to at least encounter him in the corridor.

the sharp tap of her heels comes to an abrupt stop. she tilts her head and offers a perfunctory greeting. ]

-- May I help you?

[aizawa takes everything in- her straight shoulders, guarded expression, the way she's got herself situated in the hallway for interception despite being out of arm's reach- and comes to the immediate conclusion of professional. professional what, it doesn't matter, but uraraka hadn't mentioned anything about being in any danger on her ship.

aizawa slowly takes his hands out of his pockets to scratch at the scruff on his neck.]

Aizawa. I'm looking for a student of mine from home, Uraraka Ochako. I'll wait here if you want to confirm with her yourself.

[mucked]

[ -- she offers up no hesitation in taking a moment to drink him in. watch him with an appraising eye. ordinarily, she isn't quick to screen visitors for others on the crew, but ochako's young. and if he is indeed a teacher of hers, then he likely won't mind if she makes good on his offer. ]

Carter. [ she names herself. ] I didn't realize she had someone else from home in the fleet. You must be new.

[there's always that tense moment of people sizing each other up, but it looks like all's well here. aizawa shoves his hands back into his pockets.]

That's right. I've spoken to her since, but she doesn't know I'm here right now. [mostly because he'd like to keep his movements off the comms wherever possible, in the very unlikely case that they really aren't being monitored 24/7]

Are you an officer? ['cause you seem like you would be]

[ a hum of confirmation. ]

Captain, actually. [ but she says it without any hint of bravado. although she takes the rank quite seriously, peggy's acutely aware of how happenstance and random selection are more at fault for her captaincy than anything else. she knows she didn't earn it like the earned other things. of course, that said, her seems-like-an-officer style certainly pre-dates the fleet. ]

You'll have to forgive the mild interrogation. [ she pauses, like trying to decide how much to explain. ] One of the other ships had a violent intruder not long ago. Can't take too many risks. Not even here.

[ That sure is a grumpy looking man. ]

I'm fine. [he could just walk on by, but it wouldn't do to have kids going to the captain of the ship and reporting a suspicious man wandering around.] Just looking for a student of mine.

In a manner of speaking. I'm a 'medic' in the loosest definition possible, so don't expect any life-saving surgeries.

I'm locking the order consoles to the Captain and myself, in the case that a raving lunatic is assigned to the ship and tries ordering dangerous chemicals.

Need me to make sure something gets ordered?

I can't think of any dangerous chemicals I'm in need of. Depending on how you define dangerous. But if it works anything likes the comm station I don't think anyone without a lab augment would be able to do anything with those consoles in the first place.

[Look, he understands a certain a level of caution, but for someone that just got here, he seems awfully comfortable in his extreme paranoia]

I am. And you cannot lock us out of all the consoles.

If it concerns lab materials I absolutely can, but Captain Furiosa instructed me to give you full access. She can also override anything I do anyway, so don't worry. This isn't a hostile takeover.

[At some point after Aizawa's arrival, while he's wandering the halls, a little maintenance bot, painted with myriad of colourful designs, rolls itself into view, dutifully cleaning up anything in its path. What's unusual about it is that it's actually cleaning the ceiling, dusting up any cobwebs and catching loose space flies.

Not far behind the bot comes Ochako; her fingers are pressed together, and her gaze is focused on the ceiling rather than ahead of herself, so she doesn't notice him immediately.]

[expellerhead]

[glances up. yup, that looks a lot like ochako's handywork. and here comes the girl in question, totally not paying attention to her surroundings. aizawa lets her get pretty close before stepping into her path so she runs into him.

he also sticks out a hand to catch that little cleaning robot that's probably going to fall when she startles. not because he's nice, but because it's probably expensive.]

[Whoa, she's not expecting a sudden collision, and it's good forethought on his part that he catches the bot when it drops, because she's not quick enough to stop it. Her hands are up and apart at once, taking a step back, and she's halfway through a swift apology when she recognizes that it's him.

The change is immediate; her jaw drops, her eyes widen. She hesitates for a second, maybe two.

And then she shakes off anything that might have caused her to hold back and lunges forward again, throwing her arms around him, burying her face against his chest. He's not her mom and dad, he's not Deku, but he's a trusted adult, a hero, and he's safe. For her, that's more than enough.]

Sensei...!!

[ahhh, boy. he'd been expecting it but it's still awkward, the tears, the clinging... he knows she's had a hard time, five months without a single familiar face would mess anybody up and she's done admirably to keep up her spirits since. and he's relieved to see her well, no obvious new scars, and she was even smiling, but-

ah, what the hell; just this once, for extenuating circumstances. he sighs and tucks the robot under one arm, resting the other hand awkwardly atop her head.]

...alright, alright. Let's not make a scene.
