It has come to my attention that the vast majority of you have - [ a brief pause, a sigh ] - names. Which means that, in the interests of efficiency, I must have one as well.

[ Really, she wants to know what it feels like, to have that kind of mark of individuality. But she pretends at disdain. ]

I do not know how an individual goes about procuring a name. Therefore, I offer the first three letters of my designation - E-L-N. You may proffer suggestions based on those.

Uh ... well, usually the person's parents gives them a name when they're born.

But if you don't have that ... is there anybody you know or heard about that you admire or you'd like to be like? You could name yourself after them!

Or maybe ... a character in a book you read? It doesn't have to be a real person.

I've never read a book. Literature was considered non-essential data for the SISC program.

You should try it. You might find it interesting, and you've got all the time in the world now.

Well, how would you describe yourself, then? Sometimes people tend to pick names based on what they think the person's personality would be like.

I'm efficient, and quite competent, and valuable.

I'm not sure if "efficient" is necessarily something people would put into a name meaning. But -- you could do "Kamiko"? It's usually written to mean "superior". Or "Noriko", that one is "exemplary".

Names are either given, earned or decided by the person themselves. What you're doing isn't so odd, though I'm still curious as to what brought on the need.
