I'm Kubo. So how much is it? Do we just go inside?

[notzubats]

Nice to meet ya Kubo!

I guess so! C'mon! [And he heads into the store. Along the walls, there's all sorts of different types of boards on display of various styles and tech features.]

Wow...! So cool!

[shamisens]

[ Kubo is both awed and unsure. He runs a hand down one carefully, just in case it might break. ]

Which one works best?

[notzubats]

I dunno. I've never used one. Maybe there's some for beginners?

[He starts looking around at the signs next to the boards, making a hmmm sound as he rubs his chin]

[shamisens]

[ Kubo spots a red one with dragons coiled decoratively over the board. ]

How about this one? This one looks nice. And it has dragons.

[notzubats]

Ohhh, dragons! I like it!

[Thumbs up!]

Okay! That one it is! I'll go talk to the shop guy and get it for us. Just hold on a sec-!

[And off he goes, very excited to do this because oh my gosh hoverboard!!]

[shamisens]

[ He hangs back, watching curiously. If Sora needs help, Kubo would jump in. He's not a terrible haggler if need be. ]

[notzubats]

[Luckily the transaction seems to go smooth enough. Sora's not that great a haggler but it doesn't seem like the shopkeeper is interested in cheating a bunch of kids. Soon enough, the payment is made and the guy heads over to unlock the board and hands it to them, telling them to have it back by sometime this evening]

[Sora takes the board and grins at Kubo]

See? Easy!

[shamisens]

[ Kubo leans on his feet, excited. ]

Then let's take it outside!

[notzubats]

Okay!

[He heads on outside. Luckily, there's a small little park next to the shop. Talk about good location! Sora heads to a patch of grass]

So he said that you just hit a button, here.... [He looks around-] Oh, here we go!

[He hits the button, and there's the quiet sound of a hum that comes from the board. Sora lets go of the board, and it falls - ALMOST to the ground, stopping so it's floating a good six inches above the ground]

Haha! It works!

[shamisens]

[ Kubo comes closer, inspecting it curiously. ]

How high do you think it can go?

[notzubats]

No idea! Let's find out!

[He walks over to jump up onto the board, not at all worried about getting on a floaty board. And luckily since both of them are so small]

C'mon, I think both of us could fit on here.

[shamisens]

[ Kubo climbs on, keeping his arms out for balance. ]

Now what? Do we press a button?

[notzubats]

Hmmm, well he said the board will respond to your movements. So...oh! Let's try leaning back with our weight!

[And once they do that, sure enough the board will start to move up in the air, the speed of which depends on how fast and hard they do it]

[shamisens]

Woah!

[ He wobbles before grinning. ] Forward!

[notzubats]

Aye aye!

[He shifts his weight accordingly, and together the board goes up and forward! Very soon they are above the trees of the park!]

Ha! Looks like it can go high alright!

[shamisens]

[ He shakes Sora slightly, caught up in the enthusiasm. ]

Can it go higher than the buildings?

[notzubats]

Haha, good question! Let's find out!

[UP UP AND AWAY. It's not long until they're above the lower buildings, and climbing the height of the skyscrapers. Sora's clearly having the time of his life doing this.]

[shamisens]

[ Kubo laughs, a free sound that he hasn't uttered in days as he feels the wind running through his hair. ]

This is awesome. Better than my kind of flying.

[notzubats]

Your kind of flying? You can fly?!

[Awesome.]

[shamisens]

Kind of. My magic can make it seem that way.

[ He hasn't mastered it the way his mother had, enchanting robes but Kubo is sure he'll pick it up eventually. ]

[notzubats]

Wow! Magic too? That's awesome!

But how does your magic make you seem like you're flying?

[shamisens]

If I have paper or something like it, I can use it to help me fly. Like making a pair of wings.

[ He spreads his hands to demonstrate ~flying with wings~ before giggling as the board shakes a little. ]

My mother could enchant clothing and create magical wings.

[notzubats]

[He shifts his weight as the board shakes, snicking along]

Whoa, so it's like you control paper with magic? And maybe clothes too?

That's amazing! I've never heard of powers like that before!

[shamisens]

It's a strange kind of magic. Honestly, I'm not sure what I can do.
