It doesn't come with a high interest rate, does it? Besides, I thought Winn's birthday extravaganza cleared out all the shame-money you'd earned!

[She nods.] It did, but I made soooo much shame money the day of the battle. [Lots of killing, surprise captain-ing, and then hot wall sex will do that for your account.] I've got a job on the station too.

You've done enough already for us, Kitty. And Between the four of us, plus a little extra work on the side, I think the Three Twins will be patched up in no time! Use your shame money to have a nice time with Winn somewhere. I'm fairly certain he's working himself to exhaustion.

I see him sleep sometimes. Not enough, but it happens.

I am glancing at the upgrade for bigger bedrooms that's available now. But I can't do that until I know the fleet is okay. The ships with the smallest crews got the most damage. It's a lot to come back from.

Are you sure? Because we're getting by fine, truly. You don't need to worry about us. You and your shipmates deserve the upgrade.

That can wait. If you really don't need it I'll see if someone else does, but if you're just being nice then take the money. It's just money. We didn't use it back home anymore, so I'm not that attached.

[He stops and considers. There is a lot of significant damage to the Three Twins, and who knows how long they'll be at this stop for? Finally he holds his hand out for the money, and if Kitty hands it to him he take a smaller - but not insignificant - chunk from it.]

This is more than enough to help get us moving again. And look, I know you said it's not a loan, but we'll pay you back somehow.

[His first thought is the A.I. system, but he tries to keep his tone one of polite interest and not TOTAL FANBOY.]

[That was her first thought too! Vision told him about Jarvis the AI once upon a time.] He's new to the Tourist. He's a pilot, but he likes to cook. He was making me waffles when we met.

Any chance he wants to transfer onto our ship instead?

It was scandalous and uncouth and I don't think I've ever actually said uncouth before so you know it's bad.

How does he feel about visiting other ships and spreading joy like some kind of pancake-making-Father-Christmas?

Probably better than I'd feel about letting him even temporarily get away. Maybe you should just join us for breakfast someday.

Oooor maybe I could be nicer since I did come here to kind apologize. [Not that it's her place to pimp Jarvis out one way or the other.]

[He laughs a little because he is 100% joking.]

Are you joking about the head injury or the forgetting because of it?

[Ravi is learning to just never talk about any injury ever again.]

It was just a minor bump to the head. I'm fine.

[She's been around too many people you have to bully into taking care of themselves, but since Ravi is a doctor she nods, letting it go.]

I was just very abrupt and a little harsh with you during the battle.

Well we were kind of in a situation where our lives were possibly in danger, it's understandable. Besides, I don't really recall you saying anything completely out of line.

What about the part where I suggested we make sure we kill all the raiders so no one has to worry about their safety? [That was kind of dark.]

We all say things in the heat of the moment, Kitty. Besides, we had our share of causing casualties in the raid. [Not Ravi personally, but still!] I'm not in a position to judge.

[She nods and gives him a soft smile.] In that case, thanks.

I just didn't want you to be afraid of me. [Which is kind of a thing for her.]

I mean, I already know you're completely fallible in the game of Speed. What do I have to be afraid of?
