[Kanda watches Sorey negotiate with the merchant. He's not entirely sure the man is convincing, but then again, Kanda sucks at poker, so he's not the best judge. Kanda's been looking for parts like this, too; something that he could use to fix his ship, since he has no Engineering augment.

He could also walk away and let Sorey have them all. Then again, that is a lot of money-- money best served toward fixing whatever ship Sorey came from.

Kanda strolls up, dressed head to toe in black and carrying a wrapped thing that can only be a sword.]

Titanium clamps, huh? The Blue Fish could use some.

[Kanda helps himself to one without asking and begins playing with it. The merchant starts to look nervous.

And then Kanda snaps it in half. With two of his fingers.]

Oh, it's garbage.

Ah-! [Sorey and the vendor react in the same way; Sorey because this is the same guy who got in a screaming match with Allen his first day here, and the vendor because his-]

That- that was expensive! Y-you'll need to pay for that!

Oh- Oh, I'll pay for it, [Sorey says quickly, hoping to avoid a rage meltdown as he reaches for his comm.]

[Kanda has a feeling he knows what's up now, so he just ignores Sorey and grabs the merchant by the shirt.]

This isn't titanium, this is practically plastic. You could make better clamps with the crap they give us for food.

Whoa! [THIS IS WHAT HE WANTED TO AVOID

Okay, so like, clearly the merchant was going to sell him bad goods...okay...should've caught that, but,] Hang on, hang on...Kanda, right? [Let's try this, gent l y puts hand on Kanda's wrist.] It's okay. I'm sure he'll overlook it, why don't we just go?

[... Someone knows his name and Kanda doesn't actually know who this clown is. He considers grabbing him, too, but Allen might kick up a fuss. This might be one of his friends. He seems to be weighing his options... or at least staring into space disdainfully.

After a few seconds, he drops the man from a foot up. No big deal.]

Whatever. [He flicks his now free arm like Sorey's touch had disgusted him, sending the merchant one last angry look. Also, because he's petty:] Your kids are ugly.

[NOW they can leave. Or at least, Kanda's leaving. There he goes.]

No they're not, [Sorey says gently, though he does point at the clamps,] but please don't sell those to anybody.

[And then he rushes after his...savior? No. No no no. Let's just stick with Allen's friend.] Uh, thank you! I would've bought all of them if you hadn't come along. Even though we found out kind of by accident...

[Why the hell is this guy following him? Kanda just ignores like 90 percent of what he says, because that's what he does.]

... You don't have to thank me for that. [Sigh.] Con men are everywhere. [Says the guy whose best friend is one.]

Do I know you?

[Oh, because he said his name earlier.] No, no. I know Allen, and I saw you arguing with him on the communicators a while back... You're both from the same world, right?

[... Oh. He should be embarrassed about that, but he isn't. He just has that same blank look. Congrats, you've met another Lineface.]

Yeah. [He taps his wrapped up sword, which rests comfortably against his shoulder, if not suspiciously.] We're both Exorcists.

Oh! [His sword is...

........on his back????] So you don't do the- [mimes ripping his own arm off]

[Kanda squints. He's not the best with charades, but he figures it out after a second.]

Definitely not. Unlike him, I've actually had proper training.

What?? That's a training thing? I always just thought that's how Innocence worked!

His Innocence is inside his body. The way he uses it makes him more like a brute than a swordsman. Before he got the sword, it was just...

[He makes a little clawing gesture. Even if it's effective, the way Allen fights is reckless and messy. Even Kanda understands that.]

Mine was an equipment type, at least for a while. My old teacher reforged it for me when it broke. It's a sword, and it'll always be a sword. Not an arm or anything else.

Really. [Sorey glances at Kanda's sword again, like he's expecting it to start glowing or something.] That's incredible, I had no idea there were different type classes. Can anyone use an Innocence sword that's equipment type, then?

[There's a bit of hesitation on his face, just for a moment, and then it's gone.]

No-- that's not how it works. Innocence only bonds with one person. There are different types of Innocence, but it's not like you can just pass them around. It takes a lot of testing to find someone compatible.

[That's why Kanda had been made in the first place. That was why they fought so hard to keep him.]

If you try to force it on someone, they'll die.

I see...so even if it's not inside your body...

[Suddenly realizes something SO IMPORTANT] -I'm so sorry, I didn't even introduce myself. I'm Sorey.

To anyone else Mugen's just a sword. If it were as easy as inheriting a weapon, our world wouldn't be in shambles.

[Kanda looks unimpressed, but Sorey might be able to tell that's essentially his default expression.]

So you're one of Allen's friends?

Uhhh... [Not...really so much friends as,] We're definitely allies! He's saved my life before, and I have purification powers too so we kind of end up consulting each other over stuff...

[Kanda glances away ever so slightly.]

I hope he didn't give you the wrong idea. We're not saviors.

No, don't worry. He made it sound more like a...compulsory occupation, I guess. [Yeah he made it very clear that he doesn't appreciate people feeling pity for him or thanking him profusely. Between the blushing and stuttering and the yelling, Sorey gets the feeling Allen doesn't look at himself as a savior at all.]
