That's...a lot to think about when you're feeling scared, but I guess I could give it a start. At least maybe start with the things I know I'm afraid of?

[He looks at Dezel]

Don't you need a reason to get stronger?

Yeah. Baby steps.

[He unfolds his arms and rests them on his hips.]

It's not hard to find a reason. Maybe you want to learn how to survive on your own. Some people want strength so they can have recognition and power. Some want to support others, and some want to protect.

If you just want to improve yourself, I think that's good enough.

Yeah, I agree. The desire to get stronger is actually pretty common in almost all people, and the reason for it is rarely complicated. As they say in nature- the strong survive. So it comes down to a survival instinct.

Hmmmmmm....

[He crosses his arms again, giving a long moment to think about his reason, a reason that he could believe in. And for all intensive purposes, it actually does look like he's giving this serious thought.]

[Whatever he thinks up, he seems to give himself a nod and looks up back at them, satisfied at what he came up with]

Okay! Got one.

[Dezel sounds about as enthusiastic as a funeral.]

Oh boy. [He's glad, really, but--] That was quick.

[Mikleo quirks a brow. It... looked like he was taking this seriously, but this is Sora they're dealing with...]

Well? Out with it.

[he grins.]

Can't! It's a secret.

[Okay so it's really not, but considering how tsundere these two are, maybe it's better he doesn't say something along the lines of "I want to help my friends and yes that includes you guys".]

[He glances in Mikleo's direction.]

As long as it works for him, that's all we can really ask for.

[This place is pretty barren... He rubs his chin.]

Now that that's taken care of... I'll find something to make a target out of. [It's not fair to have Mikleo conjure everything.]

[They both get a cynical look for that one, but fine, fine, keep your secrets. It's not like they need that info to work through this or anything.

Ugh.]

Considering the destructive nature of his power, something durable would be good. That's the point of coming all the way out here. Rocks, maybe?

[Better that than wrecking the trees or something. Nature spirits ought to be nice to, you know, nature.]

[Whatever Mickey you don't need to know everything.]

Or maybe some junk from the warehouse?

Maybe we can do both.

[He detaches from whatever he was leaning on before and goes to survey the remnants of the warehouse. A few rocks and hollowed-out steel cases ought to work just fine. They don't have nails to piece anything together, and that's too much work anyway.]

Yeah... that can work, I think. If we run out we can just use ice.

[Too bad Edna's not here, then they'd have plenty to work with.]

Well, Sora? Want to give it a try?

Okay! Here goes!

[He takes a deep breath and concentrates on the junk. He even holds out his hand, trying to focus as much as he can. It's pretty clear from his stance and his face, he's trying really hard.

And yet, nothing happens. No swell of power, not anything. He keeps trying for a few moments more before giving a sigh]

Nothing.

[Dezel isn't terribly surprised. He leans in to whisper something to Mikleo.]

Should I scare him a little?

[Mikleo's not surprised either - probably going to take more than a quick psychology lecture to resolve this problem - but it doesn't mean he can't be a little miffed. Figures that life won't throw them a bone. He mumbles back,]

I'd prefer we not get ourselves blown up.

[Sora meanwhile is over here, trying his hardest to focus again and get his powers to work. But um yep. Still nothing]

[Poor Sora. He sounds like he's about to explode.]

All right, all right. Don't give yourself a headache.

[He walks over so he can plop his hand down on top of Sora's head and rustle his hair a bit.]

What are you thinking about right now?

[Mikleo snorts faintly but doesn't comment. Dezel, you'd better not go doting on him too much. They have to be firm with him, here!]

[He peers up through his bangs at Dezel as he rustles his hair]

How it'd be real nice if my powers would go off on that junk?

[He smiles a little, shark teeth evident.]

If emotions are what bring your powers out, nothing short of righteous indignation is gonna work.

[He leans in a little.]

Time to get angry, short stack.

...Are you sure we want to be starting with that one?

[Anger can get... kind of explosive, can't it?]

[!!!!]

I'm not that short!

[ANGER METER RISING...]

I have some experience with it. [He shrugs. He'd rather have exploding things than like, getting his head blown off.

He leans down to rib Sora more... and use his head as an armrest.]

The little girl we traveled with was taller than you.

[Edna is not really a little girl-- she's older than everyone except maybe Zaveid-- but that's neither here nor there.]

[...Huh. Well, it's working, at least. If they're making this bed, might as well lie in it. Mikleo circles slowly around them, brows lifting thoughtfully.]

You know, you're actually right about that. What age would you say Edna looks, 11 or 12?
