Well there were fishing boats! But nothing that could really get past the shallow waters around the island, no.

[He offers a shrug] It used to be different. But there was like some huge disaster like...500 years ago or so. Any towns left ended up cut off from each other after that.

[Whoa. That sounds like the Age of Chaos swallowing up the vast majority of their recorded history.] I guess that makes sense...especially if you're a little island in the middle of the sea. If nobody from the mainland even knows you're out there...

I'm sorry. That sounds a little lonely.

...Yeah.

[Lonely's a good way to put it.]

Actually, when I was 14? Something happened and I ended up on the mainland - in this big city. And they'd been so isolated that they didn't think anyone was outside their town. Anyone I told about my village thought I was crazy, or hit my head too hard.

Eventually I just...stopped talking about it.

Sora... [Dude, what the heck.] You were stranded there? Away from your family and everything?

Yeah.

For about a year. Then I came here.

[monolike]

I'm so sorry. [Rests a hand on his back.] I couldn't even tell. You're always so cheerful...

Yeah, well...you know, I always try to be positive.

[You know, since anything else tends to blow stuff up]

You're allowed to be upset, too. It's just as much a part of your heart as anything else.

Uh, thanks Sorey. But I'm pretty sure the ship's beat up enough without me getting upset and making it worse.

Your powers are really that much of a concern, huh? [He knows there was that...y'know, incident a while ago, but Sorey figured there had to be something with the augments going on too. Sorey's never purposefully tried to hurt anybody with his powers, after all; the most the ship's seen before that was just the occasional exploding bucket of water.] Maybe there's something we can do...it's not fair that you have to police how you feel just because you have psychic powers.

[notzubats]

They can be, yeah.

[And if he let himself start getting upset about losing his home? Yeah, he just has a feeling that'd be a well of badness, since that's a wound that runs deep]

Dezel and Mikleo are trying stuff out, they think if I'm properly trained it won't go off so badly. And Stefan's teaching me meditation. That helps a little.

[monolike]

Oh, really? [Huh. Mikleo never said anything about it, that's...weird.] Well, I'm really glad you're getting help with it. And the same goes for me; if there's anything I can do to help, don't hesitate to ask, okay?
