Iskaulit mingle
Who: Anyone!
Broadcast: No
Action: Iskaulit
When: Feb. Drift Week (and beyond?)
[The fleet, more or less patched up after their battle, has once again left civilization behind for empty space. Maybe it's a good time to distract yourself and get away from the endless repairs and nothingness, though there might still be cleaning up that needs to be done here too.
Whether you're grabbing a broom or grabbing a drink, this is a fleetwide mingle for the Iskaulit.]

[ he nudges his shoulder against hers. funnily, her scent brings back old memories of the war, gunpowder mixed with perfume, an oxymoron that seemed to work perfectly for her. ]
I'm trying to read through all the plays they have. Some of them have been really good.

[ he reaches up for a dusty copy of A View from the Bridge and hands it to her. ]
It's hardly the happiest thing I've ever read but it was pretty good.

What's it about?

[ which was the very thing that attracted to him to Miller's work to begin with. ]
It's narrated by a lawyer who tells the story of a man who fell in love with his wife's niece and how she eventually married another illegal Italian immigrant and he couldn't let her go. Never really read much of Miller but he seems to like to write about flaws.

[ he smiles a bit and nudges his shoulder against hers again. ]
Think I should look for Shakespeare?

Shakespeare? Cheerful? Even his happy endings seem a little sour. [ too tidy. everyone married off; paired up; besotted. ] Why the sudden interest in drama, anyway?

[ a beat and then he adds, ]
some of them twice.

[ he folds his arms, arches an eyebrow. ]
So far, I've only really seen the ones we keep at the weaponry.

Roster changes. Supply needs. Logging blips and anomalies on the comms -- most keep them electronic, but I like to have hard copies made as well.

[ the easier to store and the easier to erase. ]
--- Wait, where do we keep them?

[ the ships only have so much room, after all. ]
You know, I've never realized there are stacks of paperwork in one of those. Has anyone been helping you with them?

[ she doesn't need to mention wanda's recent memory problems. ]

[ and you know what? he has to laugh. ]
He'll be proud of me for getting it right.
[ database, servers. ]

It won't do to store any of it as ones and zeros -- [ look! she's learning things. ] Too changeable. He's been teaching me about how some systems can be hacked. It's good enough to keep inventory of our food-stuffs -- but my aim is for anything important to come with hard copies.

[ he frowns. that's not encouraging news. she's right, however; the lesson was tough to learn with Ultron but it proved a point and that point is as valid here as it's been at home. ]
We're going to have to find some good storage space, then.
