(It is uncommon for Maedhros to be surrounded by...anyone, truly. He has an air about him that affords him space without him saying a word. Perhaps his scars are off-putting or his height or perhaps word has spread that he - along with certain members of his family - are skilled, cold killers when threatened.

Regardless, the tall Elf is finding himself in an uncomfortable situation. Many of those vying for his attention are Co’kal and he is wary of offending them even in his confusion.)

Forgive me, but I cannot - (There is excitement that follows his gentle rejection and he tenses, barely avoiding a hand touching his hair.) I do not like to be touched.

(Which isn't entirely true. His family can touch him freely and he feels no anxiety. However strangers are a different story.

A smaller, somewhat daintier Co'kal makes a sound of sympathy and he smiles nervously.)

I am honored to be given your affections. (Maedhros meets the gazes of all around him, paling when he feels tensions heightening.) But I am not worthy of them. I must tell you now that we would not be compatible as mates.

[His tone was serious as he approached but he was sure Maedhros would recognize the playful glint in his eyes. He couldn't help but take advantage of the situation.

(The best at embarrassing, you mean! Maedhros turns bright red. The Co'kal gather around Finwë, asking to know more of Maedhros. They want the best stories! Was he always so tall? What made his hair so brilliantly colored? Does he know how to preen feathers?)

[He chuckled, unable to help himself as he turned back to the Co'kai.]

Now, who knows how to braid hair? He likes his hair braided at night before bedtime. And he'll need someone to cook good food for him.

(His lips tighten and there is very real anxiety in his eyes. What is happening?)

That isn't - (But the words die on his lips as the Co'kal tell Finwë, animately, of their many talents and how well they will tend to his body and hair. Maedhros flushes to his ears and drops his gaze.)

Alright, alright. I will take everything under consideration and think about it. Now, I think my grandson needs some time alone. [Finwe said gently, moving to his grandson's side.]

(The Co'kal "ahhh" in disappointment, giving Maedhros eyes of longing as they slowly back away.)

Grandfather, I think you made it worse. (He murmurs the statement in Quenya so as not to offend his admirers.)

{Fingon tries not to laugh, but fails rather miserably as he walks up to his cousin, smiling warmly at the beautiful feathered beings.}

My cousin is too modest! Though I suggest a gentler approach.

(His family must hate him! Maglor is the only one who has rescued him; the rest have had too much fun at his expense! Maedhros is not comfortable with this situation to begin with and the teasing leaves him completely vulnerable.)

N-No! It is not the approach - (But already the Co'kal are speaking to him softer and even managing to pet over his hair.) Finno.

{Fond affection lights Fingon's eyes and he holds out a hand to Maedhros. Oh very well, he will save his poor cousin.}

Will you come with me, Maitimo? I have something back on the ship I have been meaning to share with you.

(The hand is taken with open desperation, yet he stays still until one of the Co'kals finishes braiding a feather into his hair.)

Yes. I should see it. (He bows his head to the equine and avian race, giving them a brief, shy smile. They flutter their wings and preen at the attention.)

{Fingon squeezes his cousin's hand and waits, smiling with appreciation at the feather.} It suits you, cousin! {He bows his head to the fascinating Co'kal, making note to return later and learn more about them when he can.

Then tugs on Maedhros' hand. Only when they're away does he laugh and lean against him, grinning up at him.} You truly are worthy of love, Maitimo.

(He is touched by the gift and he raises the hand not clutching to Fingon's hand to touch the feather. The Co'kal who gave it to him looks pleased and Maedhros frowns faintly before pulling out a knife and giving each Co'kal some strands of his hair. It only seems right.)

Thank you for your kindness. (For they had been nothing but kind and welcoming; something that overwhelmed him. But he does want to return and speak to them without being romantically pursued.

Once he is solely with Fingon, he flushes so red that the color looks painful.) It must be a glitch.
