[When Castle flicks on the video, he's projecting a veneer of calm... very badly, because one can hear an edge of panic in his voice.]

Ha, ha, ha! I don't mean to alarm anybody, but I bought myself one of those spiffy augment upgrades. I picked fire, because who doesn't want to be red hot, am I right? But, enhh... [He holds up his left palm, which has a small but persistent flame on the center.] I can't seem to turn it off. Does anybody here have experience with fire powers? And should it really be this powerful when I've only bought the first level...?

Is it normal for men to be able to cook in your homeland?

It'd get good ratings, to be sure.

Yeah, some men are even rofessional cooks. I had to learn because I raised my daughter on my own- needed to be able to feed her.

I'm sorry. Did she pass away very young?

Oh, no, nothing like that! We got divorced when my daughter was a baby, and my ex gave me custody.

Oh! That's not so bad then.

Although, it seems strange that the man would keep custody. Was she not interested in raising her child?

Not so much, no. She was also an actress, so that means a lot of traveling and long hours out of the hourse, whereas me being a writer means I was at home much more. So I could give Alexis a more stable environment.

[Whoa wait. Women can be actors???

Alexis - what a pretty name. I suppose that certainly explains why you are so good with children though.

I always thought so.

Yeah, I tried to be the best father I could. And sometimes I miss her being a little girl- she's an adult now. It's hard not to feel lonely knowing she's about to go off and make her own way in the world.

Such is both the joy and burden of parenthood, is it not? At least you can rest easy in knowing you raised her well.

I definitely consider her to be my greatest achievement.

What an honor it is to have a father be so proud of a child.

[He doesn't actually know what that feels like.]

She's done a lot for me to be proud of. She does well in school, she's always well-mannered and honest... she's a great kid.

Taking after her father perhaps?

Maybe a bit.

It's not a bad thing, I think.

It means I've done something right.

Something other than turning your hand to fire.
