I must say the good folk of this stop are very kind - they have allowed my brother and I use of the mines and forges here in exchange for some trading. My brother and I are going to be working on some proper swords - if anyone else is inclined to a bladed weapon, we are happy to make you one as well.

Grandfather, Fingon, you needn't ask, but your help in the forges would be invaluable - Maedhros and I manage, of course, but neither of us are... what we were. And we have neither Father, nor Curvo, nor Tylepe here to point out everything we are doing wrong!

I come! {Fingon even hurries!

He peeks into the force he thinks his cousins are in, and his grin widens.}

[ Maglor welcomes him with a smile ]

{Fingon draws in a sharp breath, slowly walking closer to accept the elegant blade. He might not like fighting, but he's learned first hand how important it is to be able to protect himself and those he loves even here.} You two are so good to me.

It's beautiful, thank you. {He holds it out of the way as he reaches to give Maglor a tight hug.}

Maedhros said, and I agreed, that you might not have been injured, had you been properly armed. [ Maglor clings back briefly ]

This way, we won't need to worry about that so much. No jewels in the hilt, this time! But it should suit you a good deal better than that crude one you were using.

{Fingon leans briefly against him, huffing out a breath.} ...Yes, yes, I know. {But his tone is affectionately exasperated.}

I have been more careful since, and this will be of great help.

We will have to start sparring again, I think. [ Maglor hums ]

I am not what I once was - Maedhros either, although he is closer to his old strength than I. But the folk that I have been speaking to raised concern that there might be further attacks - as war makes for good viewing. [ He says darkly ]

{A frown, Fingon doesn't like the sound of that.}

Then we had best get to work on forging more swords and daggers. Shields, too, I should think.

I have recovered most of my strength, but it can never hurt to spar with you two.

[PINGED SO HARD.]

You make weapons? How much would you be asking in payment?

{He smiles to himself at Maglor's transmission, hammering a piece of still pliable metal into shape.}

At least I can stick one hand into the fire and not feel it.

[another one pinged, both for swords and because of elves]

If I could trouble you to make one, I would be glad to pay you for your services.

[ Neither did Maglor! ]

Aye - although I do not know how well a shield would stop a bullet. I wish we had one of the Firebeards or Longbeards here! They had much better skill in such things.

And I think you will have the better of me for a while yet! But we should set aside a time and space... the Iskaluit?

We do, yes! And for payment we ask for no more than that you help us cover the costs of the materials. After the recent events, I think it behooves us to arm ourselves properly, and I would not wish to deny any if they could not afford it!

I would still rather you would not! I do not know if I will ever get used to the sight!

We would be honored, milady - all we ask is that you cover the cost of the materials, although we would deny none a weapon if it were not possible!

[His hands twitch at the thought of holding familiar weapons again. It's a taste of home that he longs for. It won't be the same as his Kiyomitsu or Yasusada blades, but anything similar would be greatly appreciated now.]

What kind of blades can you forge? One of folded steel, for example?

I agree that being armed here is important. During the raid, I only had pieces of scrap metal.

[ Maglor hums softly ]

We use our father's technique, for he was one of the first to find the skills to make folded steel, yes. And we could probably shift to any blade provided you could describe it to us? Mostly, we have been used to longswords, such as my own, here. But we have had long experience with most blades.

[Okita turns away for a moment and disappears from the camera. He comes back a bit later with a rough sketch of a Japanese blade. The details aren't great because it's quick, but it gives the overall impression.]

Yours seem a bit more complex than what I'm used to. This is a Japanese katana, are you familiar?

[ Maglor eyes the picture thoughtfully ]

I have not - but it seems simple enough... a variation on one of our own designs should work - I will ask my brother. A single cutting edge, yes? How long?

A single edge, yes. The blade itself was about... [He measures it out in his head and tries to figure out the right measurements.] seventy-three...centimeters? That does not include the handle. I'll also require the sheath and can pay for both in time.

If you can forge, can you do repairs?

[Curious for...reasons.]

Hm. [ Maglor nods, taking notes ]

A straight blade, rather than a curved... [ He murmurs ] Should not be hard, I think. Give us a few days, and then you can come by so we can see if it suits?

It depends on what you wish repaired, but we can certainly try?

I appreciate it. There's a slight curve to the blade, but nothing as pronounced as you have already produced.

When I come, I'll bring as many credits as I have. It may take me awhile to earn the full amount.

[He switches to video and holds out a Japanese sword.]

Don't need it yet, but in case? I'd like to have a smith who can repair me.

We'll do our best! And please do not feel obliged to fulfil the full payment at once! Paying in installments or good is fine.
