Hello, everyone, I have a very important announcement. Kara and I are together! It's amazing and better than I could have imagined and you should all celebrate with us at the Space Bar today. The first round is on me! Oh, and I am Mon-El if we haven't met. Hello. [Just beaming.]

[This is him keeping it low key. He did manage to wait an entire 13 days before making a mass announcement at least? He was telling people on the side already though.]

What did you do to make an entire race mad?

Well, the first time was getting into a fight with a group of them on one of their moons. The rest were probably because I kept interfering with them when they encroached on Federation space.

Was it your job to protect Federation space?

Is my job, yes, but my main mission is exploring formerly uncharted space.

So, somewhere between science and military?

Humanitarian, I would say. We don't go out conquering, but if a world under our protection is threatened, we do defend ourselves.

How many planets do you have aligned with you?

Roughly 150 members and many more under our protection who haven't achieved the necessary criteria to join yet or are otherwise in Federation space but refused joining.

You must be incredibly powerful and rich. [Thinking in Daxam terms here.]

Hmmm? Me personally? No, not really. I make a good salary, yes, but I wouldn't call myself rich or powerful. I'm just a captain, after all.

most of what he needed. He kept some on hand for fun and emergency purposes
and paid a regular bill for his apartment on Earth, but that was about it.

The Federation is built on mutual trade agreements and military alliances. No one person alone benefits from that. To join the Federation is to give and to take in equal measure so that the Federation itself prospers without sacrificing a member's own identity.

That sounds too good to be true. [Even better, in theory, than Earth.]

It's the reality. I won't lie - some planets war with each other, and not everyone gets along. It's the nature of things, but the Federation draws strength in diversity and we try out best to abide by the treaties we make and to foster cooperation. There are problems, true, but I think it's a pretty great place even for its faults.

You must get along with Kara very well. [It all sounds like impossible things she'd say and then she'd make them real somehow.]

Heh, most of the time. There's plenty of head butting too.

She can be a little stubborn sometimes. She's probably going to get her way.

It will certainly be interesting when both of us decide to be stubborn at the same time.

It usually is. I recommend letting her win. That's usually where it ends up anyway. [Or is that just when you're in love with her like everyone in National City is?]

You might end up dealing with an angry girlfriend from time to time then, sorry. I'm not in the habit of backing down easy.
