Seventh ♠ Voice/Text

Who: Allen Walker
Broadcast: Fleetwide, Voice & Text
Action: SS Blue Fish
When: March 13th

[He's sticking with voice today, making sure any video feed is getting a text message that is accompanied with it]

Hello all. I'm Allen Walker, the- [He clears his throat and corrects himself] - rather, one of the Lab Assistants on the S.S. Blue Fish. If you don't usually listen, you may want to- because I'm willing to pay you.

[Yes. That's right. Money.]

Several might have noticed that the medical bays are rather sparse in terms of supplies beyond basic first aid. Atroma says that we can send in requests for medicine, but I'm not sure I'm willing to trust them to have our best interests in mind.

[Weird thing that. But after a moment, he links up a request board database.].

Therefore, I've compiled a supply list of things that'd be useful to have in the medical bays. I know many of you have been doing odd jobs for money, and this is very much the same. You get us the supplies, and I'll pay you. Simple as that. If I get a surplus of any items, I'd be more than happy to share with other medical bays.

If anyone else has things they need that aren't already on the list, they are welcomed to submit their own requests. Though if it's anything not vital to the fleet's health, I do request that the reward be paid out of your own pocket. And if there's anything about a request that seems suspicious, I am allowed to deny it.

Oh, and there's a request list for cooking supplies too - if that's more your thing. [Thanks guys]

Finally, the medical bays are also use fresh blood for the sake of blood transfusions. For people not familiar with the concept, it's a way to prevent people from dying of blood loss.

I'm planning to hold a Blood Drive this Sunday. Any people who donate blood will be given fresh baked cookies and be paid in money or food. I'd also be happy for any volunteers to help with running the blood drive, so please contact me if you're interested! Any vampiric volunteers must be able to have restraint around blood and will not be allowed to sample any donations.

[Which yes, even that last part was said with complete straight-faced sincerity]

Thank you!

A microwave?!

[She claps her hands together and generally looks way too damn excited about this.]

I didn't realize we had microwaves! I've never seen a real one in action, except on a holodeck.

We haven't used microwaves in hundreds of years. No need, when there are food replicators, which are much safer and healthier. So it's exciting to see history close up like this!

[She raises one eyebrow.]

I do believe you were the one who just mentioned the possibility of someone causing an explosion. You're right, though, from what I've read, they weren't as dangerous as people feared they were... still, the replicators are safer. Besides, microwaves just cook food, replicators create it. Because of them, no one on Earth goes hungry anymore.

[She colors a little, slightly embarrassed.]

I would love to take a look, but I'm afraid I wouldn't know how to work it. The one time I saw a microwave on the holodeck, our twentieth-century historian was operating it for a demonstration.

[She chuckles.]

Depends who you talk to. There are connoisseurs who disdain replicated food, while others, like my son, who grew up in Starfleet, prefer it. Personally, I can go either way. Replicated food does taste slightly different from traditional foods... it's hard to describe it, but you can definitely tell. Certain things are more noticeable than others: wine, for example.

[The briefest flicker of sadness crosses her face at the mention of wine, but she quickly recovers.]

Do you have time now to show me?

Thank you! I promise I won't keep you long.

[She starts to walk with him towards the kitchen.]

My son, Wesley, is about your age. I wish I had a picture to show you; he's quite handsome. [She chuckles.] Though of course, I would say that, wouldn't I? Mothers always do.

He's always been intelligent, maybe too much so for his own good sometimes, but I'm proud of him. He's finally found where he's meant to be, I think.

[She goes quiet. Mostly, she's been able to keep herself busy, distracted from the reality of her separation from everyone she loves. Talking about Wes now, though... it's difficult.]

Well, that takes some explaining, but I'll try to keep it short. There is a man, simply called The Traveler, who has the ability to bend time and space with his mind. He first appeared on our ship five or six years ago [Has it really been that long?!] as an assistant to a warp propulsion expert. I only found out his true nature when he ended up in my sickbay. He later helped save my life, and he saw something in Wesley, something even I couldn't see at the time...

Now, Wesley is traveling and working with him, learning how to unlock his own mental abilities. I can't help but wonder if there isn't some way for me to reach them, let them know I'm here. That we're all here. However, there is still so much to learn about Atroma and this universe before I can even begin to figure out how to contact them.

[Though she definitely has her suspicions of who Atroma is. She's just not quite ready to share those suspicions yet, not with them being monitored constantly.]

I can only begin to imagine... even compared to what I've experienced as a Starfleet officer, it must be amazing. I admit to being disappointed, at first, when he decided not to join the fleet, but I came to realize that he's done what I always raised him to do: push himself to his fullest potential and expand the boundaries of human knowledge, while never sacrificing who he is or his morals. I have no doubt that he will do great things with what he's learning.

[She smiles back.]

Never rule out a Crusher.
