[As a former pirate, Arthur really should have known better than to follow mysterious singing that echoed of the sea. But he couldn't help himself, leaving his nest of blankets to go find the source.

The sight he found was heartbreaking and lovely at the same time. Standing to listen for a moment, Arthur stepped forward to put a hand on his shoulder.]

You alright, lad?

[ Maglor startles at the hand, spinning to blink at Arthur with eyes that are very inhuman, and full of water. ]

... Arthur? [ It takes him a little while to find words, but even then something of waves seems to underly his speech. ]

[It was a strange feeling, but it would take more than waves to shake a man who was an island. He smiled softly, moving his hand to cup a cheek.]

Willing to come sit with me? I don't think this window's so good for you.

[ Ordinarily, Maglor might not allow touch from anyone outside of his family and close friends, but he leans a little into the hand and nods slowly, finding his way back to something less of ocean and more of a physical body ]

Alright... [ He says slowly, but he's looking longingly back out the window as he does ]

Come on then.

[Arthur offered a hand to lead him away to the kitchen to sit. It would do well enough to cheer him up, surely. Maybe he could make him something to drink. And best of all, no windows.]

[ A meek nod and Maglor follows him ]

[ He says quietly, using the touch as a means to ground himself ] I did not mean to trouble anyone.

[He squeezed Maglor's hand, shaking his head.]

It's no trouble. I find being down here troubling as well.

[ He needs that touch, right now ]

Oh? Why is that?

[ He manages to sound almost normal ]

Never meant good things when I was a little tot. Always seemed like there were one group or another of invaders coming across the sea to take control of me and my people.

[Happy to give it to him. Especially if it's helping.]

That is a grief to hear. [ Maglor murmurs ] Who are your people?

For me, it has always been the opposite. I suppose that is why it is so hard, here.

The English of course. They've always been mine.

[Perhaps means it differently than Maglor might be meaning, but it's close enough, right?]

My ships overcame it once I grew, but being in it myself... still doesn't mean good things for me.

I fear I do not know that land.

[ Maglor murmurs apologetically ]

But the ocean is faithful, in its own way.

I'd say you do. He's on your crew.

And it sounds like you've had a better relationship with it than I have.

'He'? [ Maglor blinks, curiously ]

The Sea has ever called to us, and within it can still be heard something of the first Music that created the world.

Well I'm a fit flat chested to be a 'she' by most definitions.

And I might be old, but I'm not old enough to remember the creation.

[ Maglor blinks at him in surprised confusion ]

[Well it's not an outright denial. He'll take it. Arthur smiled, finding the confused express actually kind of adorable.]

Me. Arthur is my human name.

[bythewaves]

[ Maglor blinks, trying to make sense of what Arthur is saying ]

You...are the...land itself?

It does make it feel a bit odd to be so far away from home.

[bythewaves]

[ He shakes his head, but in bemusement, not denial ]

I cannot even begin to imagine how that must feel, my lord.

Oh, don't you start calling me that. I haven't used any titles in years. No point in starting again out here.

[Gives him a quiet smile.]

And some of mine are here. That always makes travel easier.

Some of yours? Ah... you mean, folk from your lands?

[Arthur nodded.]

That's right. Good English citizens. Though I'll watch after anyone else from the Kingdom too. They're not mine, but they're still subjects of the Queen.

The land but... also the people. [ Maglor murmurs softly as he works through the implications ] The nation itself?

There's about two hundred of us on the world I'm from.

[Even if Maglor wasn't English, or at least didn't claim to be, Arthur felt a quiet pride was the elf figured it through.]
