She doesn't remember dating him, it happened after she came here, she doesn't feel that way about him, she loves me.

[ so all the right things and still in his gut he has a terrible feeling about all of this. where there's a choice, he always ends up losing. ]

As far as things she could say goes that sounds pretty good. But you're still worried?

You probably don't know but - on TV, a lot of times, when they bring in a new character that's a lot like a previous character and they start connecting with a lot of the same people - it's cuz they're gonna get rid of the original guy and replace him with new and better. And we are on a TV show here, supposedly.

[ and it's easier to focus on that reasoning than the realer emotional response he's feeling. though, it is a fear. why did he get a memory update? is he getting boring? are they trying to shake things up and this is his last chance before they send him -- wherever they send people they're done with? ]

Hey, Kara and I would never let you be replaced. And based on what your girlfriend said when you fell into a coma [or more the way she said it] I don't think she would either.

[ and is it weird if he hugged mon-el again for saying he's irreplaceable? because he really wants to. ]

Well, she was asking if you were working on anything for anyone that she could take over. I guess it wasn't so much what she said as just that it seemed like she was holding a lot back as she said it.

[winn]

[ that is sweet, and he looks down at his empty shot-shell smiling a little despite himself. thinking of kitty just has that influence on him. ]

Next month is our anniversary. [ and this drama is not how he wanted to celebrate it. ] After you made your announcement she kinda joke berated me for not announcing our love too, so I was gonna make a ridiculous over the top announcement for it.

Happy almost anniversary. And I like her twice as much now. No one was in favor of what I did. Are you going to?

[ but he shakes his head ]

It'd be too weird now. [ but is it weirder to censure himself? he's not hiding how much he loves kitty, far from it, but is not announcing it because of chekov thoughtful, or is it expecting a loss, a failure, creating a self-fulfilling prophecy?

His heart just got broken, living on the same ship is bad enough he doesn't need me to shove it in his face.

[He looks at him thoughtfully. Kara and Winn are both pretty great people to look up to.]

Never let anyone tell you that you're not an incredibly nice guy, Winn.

[ he smiles at the compliment - as wrapped as he is in his feelings right now, he doesn't feel that nice, but he knows he's allowed his feelings, and as long as he doesn't act on them they don't make him a bad guy. ]

She loves baseball, so I'm gonna make us a game to watch. Sorry, by the way, but I'm gonna have to borrow your girlfriend to get things done in time. Not having super speed sucks.

Actually, that'd be great, you could work on the bleachers while Kara and I work on the puppets.

[ he laughs and claps mon-el's shoulder fondly ]

It's the seats. I have plans for them you'll just have to follow the instructions to put them together.

I can do that. She'll probably like this even better and you can always save the other plan for later.

Yeah, I got Steve Rogers to do the commentary, she'd love that. He's like...her Superman. It should be a good time.

It sounds like you're figuring things out. She's lucky to have you. Hopefully she knows that too.

[ figuring out romantic stuff to do for kitty is easy. figuring out how to live day-to-day...that's the hard part. ]

She does. [ he nods, with a light version of his smitten look. before, he might have protested, said that he's the lucky one - which he still believes, especially now that a guy who seems decent is interested in her. but she's lucky too. he's a good guy and a better boyfriend. ]
