I have seen some pretty spectacular gags in my time, but this takes the cake. Way better than the Nebula 9 Fan Experience, I’ll give it that. But I am having a really hard time believing this is real. Because it can't be real. No cell phone so that’s not an option, which reinforces my point, why take my cell if it won't work? But I don’t recognize this place, or the stars out the window. So nice job, very funny.

[Castle's eating his dinner when he hears the familiar voice coming over the comms, and his meal goes down the wrong pipe when he picks it up and confirms that it's really her. So instead of saying hello, or "I missed you", or "Where the hell have you been?", he's coughing and spraying rice all over his communicator screen.]

HURK. Oh, God, that didn't feel nice.

Castle, ok you said you'd get me back, bravo. This is cute, ambitious but you don't do anything halfway. Where do I get out of there?

And is that rice?

[Castle wipes off his mouth and screen before replying.]

I was eating some lovely seafood dish when I was surprised by the sound of your lovely voice. Oh, Detective Beckett, it has been too long since I've gazed upon your gorgeous face. But I'm afraid I didn't have anything to do with this one. Pinky swear. Scout's honor.

[Wow, Castle. That kind of flowery talk is getting all kinds of side eye.

[A look of dismay briefly crosses Castle's face at that- he remembered things she didn't, and worse, she couldn't tell him if he was dead or not- but it's soon replaced by his usual easy smile.]

Oh, I couldn't forget that, definitely. Just wanted to make sure we were on the same page, as they say. I've been trapped here for a year and a half.

[Did you just...suddenly forget your talking to a detective who specializes in reading people. Someone who also knows you better than most people.]

[He knows that subtle narrowing of her eyes, the preinterrogation sizing up. It's old habit by now.]

[Castle pinched the bridge of his nose, mentally chiding himself. Of course she knew- she knew him better than most people did, in fact.]

Because... I know this is going to sound weird, but try to roll with it. Time works differently here, and I come from a later point than you do. I remember things you don't. [I think I died, he wants to shout, but he doesn't. This is enough for her to take in already.] ... big things.

[Kitty is absolutely not feeling up to guiding newbies right now. Bad timing with two of her most important people being in comas right now and yet, part of that gets her attention.]

Castle? As in... [How to describe him?] oh, the writer. [Simple. So, have a 21-year-old superhero on your screen, Kate. She's in regular garb though. No costume today.]

[No need to just blurt out their whole history, especially to unknown ears and she still wasn't 100% convinced this wasn't some kind of gag. It would be just like him to set up this elaborate sort of event to get her to proclaim her feelings infront of a group.]

He does have a way with children, mostly it's because he can think at their level. And does, most of the time.

It was very helpful a few stations ago when we had to work as babysitters.

Ah...perhaps I did. The entire concept is very new to me. In my culture, people are generally matched with their future spouse and after negotiations are concluded, they wed.

If I had to guess, it might have more to do with it being something important to you than being useful for contacting anyone, but that's just a guess.

Depends on what you want to call real. I believe that we're here and that they've got us on a leash that we can't break. I don't know if I believe the reasons, but I'm not sure that that matters.
