And, if anyone has met one, her Trill spots are very noticeable right now. She's fairly groggy yet as she wakes up and pulls herself to her feet.]

Hello? [Where... is she?] Julian? Ben? ... Kira? [Anyone?

Give her a few moments, she eventually realizes she's broadcasting.]

Hello, I'm Curz- Emon- uh... [Ughh, she rubs at her eyes and ruffles at her hair, trying to fully wake herself up.] I'm Dax. Ezri Dax, Lieutenant Junior Grade, I'm the counselor on Deep Space Nine in orbit of Bajor.

How is Julian, by the way?

He's alright, a little harassed by Section 31 but okay. I think the war is wearing on him a bit, on all of us, but I guess that's part of the reason Ben wanted me to stay instead of going back to the Destiny.

[That and having a Dax around to tell him he's an idiot sometimes. And now she just can't be upset at staying, even if it risks Dax.]

[She frowns.]

Section 31?

[Remember, Ezri - secret organization.]

[Damn secret organizations... Okay, she remembers it's secret but-]

They never went after anyone on the Enterprise? [But... but they have one of the best crews in Starfleet. They're frequently harassed by Q. Section 31 absolutely should have poked their noses in there!]

They're an underground organization, not officially Starfleet. Think... And she has to think back on what Julian's shared.] Think Obsidian Order but Starfleet.

[Her eyes narrow. Official or not, the idea of the Federation having any organization akin to the Obsidian Order simultaneously angers her and makes her skin crawl. The Federation may not always be perfect, but it is - should be - better than that.]

What do you mean "went after" us? And why are they harassing Julian?

[She's not sure anyone likes it. And it probably bothers Ben more than he ever lets on that Section 31 has no problems getting on and off his station, let alone into an officers room.]

You have one of the best crews in Starfleet. They've been trying to recruit Julian, it's hard to believe they don't want someone from the Enterprise.

[dancingmd]

[Grimly:] If they have targeted anyone, it's not been any of the senior staff.

[This she is utterly confident in. They have been through too much together for her to believe any of them would join such an organization. But there's over a thousand people on board - perhaps there are others that would... she banishes the thought. All it will do is create paranoia that she can do nothing about, here.

Besides, she thinks - none of them are augments. It's not surprising that some nefarious underground organization might target Julian because of that.]

[And as talented as all the crew is, she's sure, the senior staff is probably where their interest would lie. Maybe they just haven't gone for them yet though, maybe they were biding their time.

And at the same time, she's glad they haven't. The less anyone has to deal with Section 31, the better.]

I'm glad you all haven't had to deal with it at least.

[Beverly nods, then pauses thoughtfully before switching their feed over to a private one. Not that that does any good against Atroma but... Julian deserves at least some privacy about this.]

I'm relieved to hear that Julian is all right as well, despite... whatever Section 31 is after. When he came here, he came from the Dominion camp.

[She can remember that. It was Jadzia's time, clearly, but the memories are there for her. And she remembers that no one was happy that they hadn't noticed the change.]

He's doing a lot better since then. We're doing well in the war, the Cardassians are not happy with the Dominion. Gul Damar helped Worf and I escape back to the station.

That's... comforting to know. I didn't exactly leave at the best time.

Maybe it was the best time, it's gotten pretty ugly. [Since the Breen joined.] It's probably naive, but I'm a little glad at least one person can be spared the war right now.

[Beverly purses her lips slightly. She appreciates the sentiment, truly, but it still rubs the wrong way, having been stuck here for over two years now.]

I would still choose to go home, if I could.

I would go back too. [So she can understand. Even if everything is awful at the moment and she wants to spare everyone that, it's home.]

I might get lost, it took me a bit on Deep Space Nine, even though I had Jadzia's memories. Everything looks different when you're short.
