[It's starts with a young woman rolling off the bed, short hair messy and a starfleet uniform, if you'll recognize the style uniform she wears, a bit wrinkled. And, if anyone has met one, her Trill spots are very noticeable right now. She's fairly groggy yet as she wakes up and pulls herself to her feet.]

Hello? [Where... is she?] Julian? Ben? ... Kira? [Anyone?

Give her a few moments, she eventually realizes she's broadcasting.]

Hello, I'm Curz- Emon- uh... [Ughh, she rubs at her eyes and ruffles at her hair, trying to fully wake herself up.] I'm Dax. Ezri Dax, Lieutenant Junior Grade, I'm the counselor on Deep Space Nine in orbit of Bajor.

[Caught up as she is in working, Beverly isn't watching the network so much as just listening to it so it's not until she hears Dax that she turns her attention to the screen. But Jadzia... her name is Jadzia, not Ezri, which must mean... her heart sinks some, for Worf.

Still - she can help feeling some relief to be joined by another from home. And from the sound and look of it, really from home, not an alternate version of it. She switches on the feed and offers a smile back to the counselor.]

Hello, Lieutenant. I'm... [There's a pause. She doubts there's a Trill who doesn't at least know her name, after what happened with Odan but she doesn't want to presume either.] Dr. Beverly Crusher, formerly of the USS Enterprise.

[Starfleet! There's someone from Starfleet here! Ezri let's out a soft breath, relieved, and smiles. And the name is familiar! Partially through Jadzia but mostly from Trill, the exact incident Beverly is thinking of. She doesn't think there are many old enough for joining or already joined that don't know her name.]

Dr. Crusher, it's nice to meet you. [That's one but-] Is anyone from DS9 here?

[She knows she won't make the best impression today, so she shouldn't even be on the network let alone responding to new arrivals and yet she needs something to distract her from her coma-laden boyfriend and only friend from home.]

Curzemondaxezridax, huh? Might just call you Junior Grade. [No, she gets that it wasn't all meant as one name, but who doesn't know their own name?]

[She shakes her head, her expression falling.]

Not anymore. Julian was, at one time.

[There's a pause before she goes on to explain:]

We're not in the Milky Way. We're not even in our universe and so time doesn't run exactly the same as it does at home. There are people here from all different times and universes - so there are other Starfleet officers, just not from the present.

[She smiles sadly.]

Even I am from your past, if you're now host to Dax.

I'm afraid that none of those mean anything to me.

[ Pointy ears poke through his hair and purple eyes regard her. She doesn't look altogether human herself, which is interesting to him. ]

I'm Kai Gracen, Licensed Stalker. Of Earth. Security on the Caprine here, I suppose. Welcome to space.

[That uniform isn't exactly like the ones that Chekov is familiar with, but it's enough that it's Starfleet.

He doesn't approach the woman with the spots immediately (he needs a moment to take in their situation, too). She might, however, notice him glancing over at her. The plaid pajama bottoms and worn t-shirt that he went to bed in definitely don't say 'hello, I'm a fellow Starfleet officer.']

['Dax' gets his attention and, when he notices that she's definitely Trill, keeps it.] Dax, huh? [And he's giving her a suspicious look, edging with a sort of weary resignation.] Just how far into my future are you?

[There's really no other explanation.]

Julian was? [It's hard not to light up a little but then Beverly goes on and that light dims a little. Nobody else from their time and if she was host to Dax now...

Ezri bites her lip briefly and then takes a breath. There's only one other host, she's pretty sure, she'd be familiar with. Curzon, she doesn't think, ever met anyone from the Enterprise before he'd died.]

Jadzia. I'm sorry. She should have been host much longer. [She wouldn't have pronoun problems now.]

[To her credit, Ezri is unhurt by the comment. The meeting might be saved! Instead, she gives a wry little smile.]

Ezri will work. [And mostly, it's people who have nine different identities bumping around in her head.] Or Lieutenant, if you really want to call me by rank.

[Well. Ezri's not quite sure what to make of that.]

It's nice to meet you Kai- but, ah, stalker? [At least she knows Earth.]

[At least someone got grabbed while sleeping so he didn't have to wake up in his uniform and mess it up. And luckily they seem more durable by her time anyway.

If he's not going to say 'hello' though, she certainly will.]

Hi there. I don't suppose you know much of what's going on?

[A familiar face! A young one but still familiar!]

Leonard! [The Emony in her slips out before she can restrain her memories and she's grinning. Her trip on Earth had been memorable, and she lived through it, thanks to him.]

Well... it's been almost a hundred and fifty years. I'm Dax's ninth host.

[ No one seems to be from his version of Earth. That's probably for the best, at least for them. ]

[The uniform would have been much more dignified than pajamas!]

Hello. [Good, first contact made. He never knows if bounding up to someone else who's new to a universe is the friendly thing to do or the alarming thing, so he finds it best to wait to be acknowledged.] Eh... not so much, no.

You're a Starfleet officer, yes? Twenty-fourth century?

[She shakes her head.]

It's not your fault.

[Any more than it is Kareel's fault for what happened between them.]

I never knew her personally. Just... [Her look softens sadly.] how is Worf?

[Worf. She takes a breath and then lets out an almost nervous chuckle.]

He... wouldn't even come into Quark's if I was there at first. He thought I might dishonor Jadzia's memory, he was- I'm not sure if there's a good way to describe it. Almost depressed? I don't think klingons really get depressed though. We've managed at least a friendship by now though.

[That damn Klingon honor. Beverly finds, however, that she can only be so mad about it this time around. She knows all too well what he's going through.]

I'll try to talk to him if I can.

[She snorts, a rueful smile on her face.]

Not that it's likely that I will remember this conversation, mind you, but I know myself well enough to say with confidence that I will reach out to him, when the time comes.

[He can't help but grin in return, if only for a moment. (And, then a brief flicker of actual sorrow crosses his features, because he really adored Emony and here's living proof that Emony Dax is no longer with them -- sorta and even if it is that far into the future.]

How time flies. Ezri, right?

Nah. Last thing I need is Kirk reminding me to call him Captain. What's with the name soup? I hope you're not a spy. Not that I have anything against spies. It would just mean you weren't a very good one.

[Jadzia might have found stubborn Klingon honor charming in some way, but Ezri? She found it irritating and would probably be more angry if it wasn't for all of Dax's experience.]

I'm sure he'll appreciate that. Does appreciate it, really. I think Julian and the Chief were a big help.

Unfortunately- fortunately actually, not a spy. Just a Trill, recently joined. So the eight other lives I- Dax, lived- they're a little jumbled up.

SoCal? Like, Southern California?

[Worlds have those? And she's probably one of few that don't question the possibility of other dimensions.]

[She blinks at the recognition then she smiles and nods.]

You're familiar with it! I am, yes. Lieutenant Dax, at your service.

[Emony might have objected, that was a huge part of the joining. The host, in some form, will live on for as long as the symbiont does. And all of her memories, some Ezri tries very hard not to visit ever out of respect, at still there.]

Ezri, yes. [A little laugh.] I know time travel isn't completely unheard of, but I never imagined I'd re-meet someone from a past life.

[Wait-] Oh gosh, the symbiosis commission never took that into consideration.

It's good to meet you, Lieutenant Dax. I'm Lieutenant Pavel Andreievich Chekov. [A glance down at his pajamas and a sheepish smile.] Although I realize that I look nothing like a Starfleet lieutenant at this moment.
