(He is the first son of Fëanor and Nerdanel and he abides by no one's commands but his own. The water calls to him in the same way that the fire repels him. He remembers the agonizing burn as the Silmaril seared through his hand; he remembers how the flames and lava licked at his body, consuming him as if he were a rare treat that should not be allowed to escape. The water helps cool those memories and he makes a pretty sight, floating near one of the Water Temples, his copper locks turning dark red as they flow about him.)

I feel as if I am in the realm of Lord Ulmo; this planet would suit him nicely!

(The image shifts as he climbs out of the water and rests on the steps of a temple. He is not wearing his customary robes, but only a tunic and pants - both of which cling to him, leaving little to the imagination.)

If you have not taken the plunge, so to speak, fleet, I suggest you do so. The water is refreshing.

(For one who is plagued by images of fire and death, it must be.)

And the race that resides here is beautiful to behold. They are fond of their ornamentations and I think they wear them well.

(He gathers him in his arms, not drawing him from the water but also not letting him drift too far.)

You know what a poor musician I am! Even if I could hear it, I would not hear the subtleties as you do.

[ Maglor doesn't fight, letting Maedhros support him ]

As always, brother mine, you underestimate yourself! But I am better, I will not deny.

If you did deny it, I would call you a liar! (He splashes him playfully.)

[ Maglor squawks and then splashes back ]

I would never deny that gift!

[castintoflames]

(He shakes wet hair from his face, grinning.)

As you should not! My darling brother, singing in his cradle to keep himself calm and content!

[bythewaves]

[ Maglor flushes a little ]

I was only trying to echo the sounds I heard!

[castintoflames]

(Maedhros smiles fondly.)

Your ears are fine. (He covers one ear with his hand, caressing it.) I learned my song from you so very early! You hummed it each time I approached!

[bythewaves]

[ Maglor leans into the hand ]

I like your Song. Always so full of love.

[castintoflames]

You are easy to love. (He presses his lips against Maglor's cheek.) No brother knows me better.

[bythewaves]

[ Maglor smiles at him, eyes settled and content and, for the moment, free of the water ]

As are you. You were one of my earliest Songs, after all. And no one knows me better than you.

[castintoflames]

(His brother is at his best like this and Maedhros smiles at him with open affection.)

You were my first brother! I was as enthusiastic about your birth as Ammë and Atar.

More, I think sometimes, considering how worried father used to get!

That was his duty! Mine was to enjoy my little brother and all his songs.

[bythewaves]

I am very glad that you were there to do so!

[castintoflames]

I carried you into the garden and nearly made Atar panic a few days after your birth. He thought I was jealous and...ah...disposing of you. (He smirks faintly.)

He found us tucked against a tree trunk.

I remember that!

[ Maglor laughs softly ]

The Song was all green and gold that day.

[castintoflames]

The birds were singing to you. I kept you in my lap so you could see them above. (He grins at the memory.) Those were the days that Atar happily joined us. Panicked or not, he couldn't resist your voice.

[bythewaves]

It was green and gold, warm and happy. You and father were shades of red, and it was....home.

[castintoflames]

That was one of my favorite days. I wanted to get you a bird of your own, but each time I tried to trap or cage one, you cried.

[bythewaves]

Because the birds cried! They were always meant to be free.

[castintoflames]

Yes, you taught me better. (Because the tears of his baby brother strike deep.) So until you could walk on your own, I carried you outside every day.

I learnt all their songs.

[ Maglor smiles at him ] You helped!

And you shared them with all of us. (He smiles and rests his forehead against Maglor's temple.) I think you even chirped in your sleep!

[ Maglor flushes, mortified ]
