[Waking up in a strange place is, sadly, something Shiro has done before. A couple of times actually. He must admit, though, he appreciates the lack of a headache this time. The worry is strong when he realizes he lost communication with his team, and there's nobody around to answer his questions. At least that means not bad guys either?

His body feels great (how, after that battle?) so he doesn't waste time investigating. Moments later he's at the cafeteria, eating something that is not goo (thank goodness) and going through the files on his new communicator. The idea of a reality show and that augment implanted in his head isn't well received at all, but there's something more urgent he should check on first. There are no signs of it on the network, but you can never be too safe.

The feed starts as he's taking off his helmet, his sci-fi-ish suit of armor and the calmness he speaks with not making him look a newbie at all. Someone familiar with military training, though, may find a bit of that on him.]

Hello. I'm Shiro, a new arrival to this... fleet. [He's about to say "this show" but ugh, he doesn't want to think about that.] Space isn't news to me, but alternative universes are. So I still feel I must ask: has any of you encountered or heard of an alien race called Galra? They aren't good news, and I wouldn't want them to have followed me here. Thanks for any information you can provide.

[The confetti is met with an unamused face, and Shiro is still brushing it off his armor as he makes his way through the ship, helmet under an arm and eyes attentive. The pudding is tempting (he isn't a huge chocolate lover but gosh, he hasn't tasted it in forever) but it can wait for now. First, he needs to meet his crew. Shiro is still a firm believer of teamwork, so it'll be better for everyone, he thinks, if he gets to know these new people as soon as possible.

He doesn't rush it though. Familiarizing himself with the ship is also important, so he walks through the hallways at a calm pace, taking in all the details and wondering what kind of piloting it'll require. Whenever he sees someone, he speaks up, tone and body language as friendly as it can be.]

Excuse me. Hi. I believe I'm the new pilot of the ship. [He offers his right hand and, if the person decides to take it, they'll notice it feels harder than a human hand. As if it was made of metal.] You can call me Shiro.

Back in my world, the Galra empire has been conquering and destroying planets all around the universe. I can't stop wondering if this fleet could come across them. [Though if alternative universes is literal, he shouldn't worry so much. But this is Shiro, so.]

[She goes quiet for a moment. This isn't the first time she's dealt with world-destroying threats, but this is rather different from what she knew.]

I will search for them, then. Sir... Shiro, was it?

[He seems military-trained, so 'sir' seems to be the right title, right?]

Thank you. Just Shiro is fine. [He is a paladin for a princess, so he finds the title a bit amusing, to be honest.] What should I call you?

[She has to make a decision on what name to give him, taking just a second to go over everything. He's talking about being followed by an evil empire, and has a military look to him. Presumably, that would make him one of the good guys. (She does have to ponder the idea that he's lying, but he doesn't seem to have much reason to if he's a fresh arrival.)]

... I am Aria Forte, knight of the Harmony Kingdom. It is an honor to meet you, Shiro.

[she eventually settles on that. If an evil empire does show up, she wants him to know she can help.]

[Oh! A knight. Her intended message is definitely received, and Shiro appreciates it. Seeing as she's speaking of rank and honor, he feels he should be respectful and return the favor. He has his own rank, but that stopped meaning anything a some time ago. So he goes for-]

Takashi Shirogane, paladin of Voltron. Likewise. [A nod of acknowledgement.] But I meant it when I said just Shiro is fine. Should I call you Sir Aria?

[oh, good. She almost laughs at the 'sir', though, but manages to keep it restrained to just an amused smile.]

Lady would be the correct title, but I would not dream of being the only one to insist upon my title. Simply 'Aria' is fine.

[She's completely misunderstood his title, though- She currently thinks Voltron is where he's from.]

[She's a warrior, and Shiro wasn't sure if lady applied to that.Better safe than sorry, right? At least she takes it in good humor.]

Aria it is. Did you get the Security augment? [Part of him is trying to find logic in something around here. Soon he'll learn it's pointless.]

[She looks a little annoyed, though.]

Though I am glad for the task, I like not the tools. Guns are a weapon without honor. My own sword is more than sufficient.

I believe honor comes with the person that carries the weapon, not the weapon itself. But would you be able to go with your sword against someone with a gun?

[He's not judging, just genuinely asking. If there aren't guns in her world, he has to wonder if she's ready to fight them.]

What is a weapon, if not the symbol of the person who wields it?

[She frowns at that second part, though.]

I have done so before. Had I my own blade rather than the replacement I have been forced to use here, I would have managed much easier, but where this blade is insufficient, I may make up for it with my magic.

[She did get her ass kicked in the process of doing it last time, though.]

[A symbol. He pauses at that, looking down at his right hand. What does a Galra arm symbolize? He frowns too, but it's just for a moment before returning his attention to her. This isn't the right time to think about this.]

Using magic against not magical people. Wouldn't that interfere in your definition of honor as well?

.... "Not magical people"?

[She seems. A little confused by the idea.]

Not everyone can use magic or defend themselves against it.

[She's lucky he's dealt with way too many aliens that consider different things "normal".]

Perhaps. But it is not something I use carelessly. What are these guns here, if not magic?

[... she's from the middle ages and i'm sorry.]

They're machines, like the ship itself. Older guns have a mechanical system. Like a sword and unlike magic, anyone can pick a gun and learn how to use it.

[Though internally he thinks about the irony of Altean technology, which can be kinda magical itself. What would this girl think about his lion?]

[She'd like it, but foxes are better.

She tilts her head, ears lowered in confusion.]

Any can learn magic as well. My sister taught me most of what I know.

You mean, anyone in your world can learn magic.

[Does this question really change the topic of honor, he wonders. Oh well.]

This is not my world, but I see no reason why any here could not. I know of one already who has learned magic, despite it not being known in her own world, though it was through outside help.

[Now that's interesting. Shiro considers the idea for some seconds before he asks.]

Do you know if it was that outside help that specifically granted her the new powers?

I believe it was, though I have not asked her the details.

[A nod.] I'll keep it in mind. Thank for all the information, Aria.
