[Vash hasn't changed his routine too much since the fusion. Showering when he thinks no one is around that might see his scars. Mostly for other's sake then is own. He knows they're not pretty.

When not checking out the under water world or at his shifts at The Space Bar, Vash can be found in the pilot seat updating the maps he's been keeping of where they've been as best he can. Star charts aren't easy, but he's been mostly managing.

Now and then he'll be in the cargo bay cleaning and maintaining the guns he's bought over the years. One is a big silver one he's recently got in the temple. It's very water logged and needs a lot of attention at the moment.

He also likes to check on the plants that are on board. Still not completely knowing how to help care for them, but learning a bit more each time he visits.

Of course, he can also be found wandering around the ship at any point in his trademark red, leather duster jacket. Although his hair isn't up in it's usual spiky way the new crew will eventually get use to seeing. The water washes out all his hair gel so it hardly seems worth it as he leaves the ship frequently.

Or perhaps Vash has run into you.]

Hey, want to hear a joke?

[Makie comes across him in the cargo bay, as she returns from visiting Misty. The familiar red coat makes her mark his presence, but-- oh. Oddly enough, it's his much floppier hair that catches her attention and makes her hesitate, peering at him curiously.

Not so much like Magatsu, after all.]

Oh, hey! [Vash smiles and waves a slightly greasy hand at Makie when he spots her. Greasy due to the cleaning he's currently giving the large, silver pistol laying in pieces just in front of him.

He picks up her curious look, but misinterprets it.] Non-laser based guns don't exactly work well once they've been wet. I'm cleaning them out.

[As not all have probably seen a disassembled gun like the residents of Gunsmoke would have.]

...oh. Yes. Gunpowder and water is... [She waves a hand as she peers at it, then back up to his hair.

It's rude to ask, so she just folds her hands together in their sleeves.] How are you today, Mr Vash?

[With the flick of her eyes now he catches on to what she was looking at.]

Yeah, it's not a very good combination at all. [He sets his things aside and cleans his hands as he looks up at her with a smile.]

Pretty well. This water planet has been really interesting to explore. Also a great place to learn how to swim when you don't need to worry about accidentally taking too much water into your lungs. I never got to learn back home.

The water and my hair care products don't seem to mix too well. [He runs in fingers through his droopy hair.] If we're on this planet for more than a month maybe I should get it cut short. I haven't had short hair in years.

I don't take well to this planet. I suppose I don't like the feeling of fluid when I breathe, even if it isn't going to choke me. [She's too 18th century for this shit. And tuberculosis may have made her a little sensitive.]

I know a man who has his hair much the same as yours, though in his case it was wild on its own. I suppose it surprised me to see such a change.

Yeah, that took a lot to get use to. Or well, if I'm being honest I'm still not completely use to it.

[Vash seems a bit surprised to hear of someone having hair like his without needing to put product into it.] Oh? He doesn't do anything with his hair at all? I mean, hair isn't really suppose to deny gravity on it's own. [He chuckles at the thought of everyone's hair going nuts if it could.] If I don't put my hair gel into it, or it washes out, then it just hangs down like normal hair.

Although, [He leans back in though.] Now that you mention it I think I have seen people around the fleet who's hair may be a bit... different then some of the hair I've seen back home.

[She smiles faintly at all that talking, shakes her head.] I don't think he does anything. But it's rarely so neat and uniform the way you have it.

Perhaps I should recommend such a practice to him. Hair...gel, you say? [Sounds sticky.]

Yeah. It's a sticky gel- ahh-- goop-like substance? [How do you explain gel without the word gel?] The stickiness goes into the hair so it stays in place. I have some in my room if you were ever curious enough to see what it's like.

[It's all right, Vash, she's just thinking of the protein gels in the kitchen and assuming it's the same sort of thing. Which technically, yes, just inedible.]

No, I don't think that's necessary. Thanks all the same.

No problem, but if you ever change your mind let me know. It can be fun to play with it and the fun things you can do with your hair.

So, if you're not going to go onto the planet, what are you up to today?

[Her hair is short and functional and she has no idea to have it fight gravity any time soon, kthx.]

Nothing of importance. [She's a simple lady with simple needs. Also, now her general curiosity is sated, she looks toward the door like she's going to move on.

...no, wait, she's not.]

If you don't believe in killing, why do you carry a gun?

Hm. [He hums as if this idea hasn't stuck him before.] I suppose because pretty much everyone back home has a gun and can be a bit... [A beat.] Trigger happy? At least at times. [Especially when they see a check for sixty billion sitting in front of them and all they have to do to sign is shoot him.] So a fast weapon for defense is pretty important. The distance can help a lot too.

Although, honestly? I tend to use it more as a deterrent. Some people will just leave you alone if they see you're armed. For the times that isn't enough to give someone a second thought about attacking me I've learned how to use this weapon in ways that won't kill someone.

I don't believe in killing. I don't have a problem with hurting people doing wrong. [Oh look! He can have a serious thought and conversation!]

Okay, maybe I have a little problem with hurting people. I don't like to do it, and just the sight of blood makes me feel sick. So I'd rather just run away if I can.

[His reasons make sense. She wasn't trying to challenge him on it, certainly; it just stood out as something strange. But a deterrent in a place where many carry such guns? Wise.

There's the ghost of a smile at his goofy laugh, gone again in an instant. She wishes she could live the way he wants her to. But.]

I don't like hurting people either. Causing suffering.

It's not easy, is it?

[A beat.] You know, I once told a man I would use this gun to help create equality and peace throughout the world. I thought that was going to be just a tad difficult back home. I guess I have to try even harder now that it's for the whole universe.

I think your goal may be too difficult to achieve when you have no control over your movements. [But it's without judgment. Indeed, the fact he can't really even begin because of such restriction is cause for sympathy.]

Hm, I suppose it's true. It will be difficult, but not impossible! [No, it is impossible. Really impossible.] I'll just keep spreading peace and equality wherever I go in anyway I can!
