[Part of him felt like he ought to be going with Hawke, it was what he did, what he'd done for years now, and there was still a small part of him that feared if he let Hawke go alone...he might not come back. The Nightmare wasn't something Anders had seen for himself, but it had caused enough fear in the healer for the amount of fear it had put in Adalwolfe Hawke.
But that part of him was small, and more of him trusted Hawke to not repeat his nearly-deadly mistake. Not now. No, this was the kind of adventure Hawke was good at, he would be fine and it wasn't like he was going alone. Besides, Anders still had a job to do.
Anders waited for Hawke in their room, knowing the Champion would need to come and collect his gear before heading into the depths. When the door to the Captain's quarters opened, Drools perked up and dashed to meet his master while Pounce's ear swiveled towards the man as his only real greeting. Anders himself stood with Hawke's staff in hand and a small smile on his face.]
Off to go fight monsters? Or toxic plants. Or a strange apparatus, whatever's down there.
Open: After the mission
[He sends out a message across the fleet, a text that was short but to the point.]
If you're injured after your journey into the depths, come to the Twin Rose Lab. It doesn't matter how small or large the injury is.
[He was already helping to heal the populace, it wasn't like he didn't have the mana or potions for it. And nothing ever happened easily, the likelihood of there being enemies down there that could cause harm seemed high enough to be inevitable.]
Open:Around the ship
[With the sickness finally coming under control and the extra toxin medicine he'd made dispersed to their patients, Anders now found himself in excess of potions. Which was probably best since the plants he'd been harvesting now needed time to regrow. But the ship's store of potions was full and there were still a handful, so he write little notes to tie to the bottle's necks and began delivering them. For a little while Anders could be found going from room to room, delivering a potion bottle to the crew members of the Twin Roses, a note for anyone who found it saying "This is a healing potion, it'll cure just about anything not life-threatening. Even hangovers. Hold onto it, just in case."
Once he'd done his deliveries, he finally decided to put his head down and shut his eyes for what felt like the first time in weeks.
It just so happened to be in the kitchen, along with his cat. Anyone who happened into the kitchen might notice a shabby mage and a curled up orange fuzzball asleep at whatever surface might be available.]

[He takes the staff with a smile and plants a kiss to Anders' lips as Drools whines over his welcome ear scratches being interrupted. Wolfe, not to leave anyone out, even gives Pounce a quick pet and tickle under the chin before starting to get changed into his armor.]
Mostly we just need to succeed or everything you've done here for these people will just be a delay of the inevitable.

[With the staff out of his hands, Anders moved to the other side of the room where he kept his meager number of things stored, he pulled out a small satchel that clinked as he tied it up and brought it over to the bed where he sat to wait for Hawke to finish changing.]
Just do me a favor and take these with you. There's two of each in here: elfroot potions, lyrium-plant potions and anti-toxins, just in case. Please just be careful.
[His worry was less in that Hawke would do everything in his power to come back to Anders and more in what state he might come back in.
Maker-forbid he come back on the brink of death, carted in for Anders to try and work a miracle, now made extra difficult from the fact he didn't have his own spirit-power source within him.
The blood in his veins turned to ice at the thought. This was the first potentially-deadly mission Hawke was going to go on where Anders didn't have Justice's energy as back up if his own mana wasn't enough...and they didn't even have Cole to help boost his powers either, he would only have what he could try and reach from the Fade.
He kept the feeling tight in his chest and just sent a simple prayer that this would end up being a foolish concern.]

[Adalwolfe pauses in pulling on his boots, noting the fear in his love's voice and feeling it choke him just a little. Anders may not be worried about Wolfe doing everything he can to come back, but that's not how he takes it. Not after all those visions of the Fade bringing back in stark clarity just how hopeless he felt separated and far away. Worthless, pointless, willing to throw his life away in the hopes that it would make it mean something.
But with Anders his life means everything, their love means everything, and that the healer would be so adamant about his bringing potions and poultices takes on a desperate quality in this context. Is Anders afraid he won't come back? That he'll choose not to?]
Anders, come here.
[He reaches for him gently, not getting up, wanting Anders to come to him of his own accord.]

What's the matter, love? I figured you'd be excited for some kind of new adventure.

[He flashes her as much of a smile as he can muster and holds out two bottles.]
They're healing potions, medicine if you will, but of the more cure-all variety. I made them to help treat the natives, but with the source cleared up, I've got extra even with the ones being passed out below. We're still going to have full stocks in the lab for quite a while, but I figured I could give a personal one to each crew member for whenever they might need it.
There's two for you in case you felt like giving one to Winn.
no subject
So, they work on humans and nonhumans then?
no subject
Generally. Magic is fairly universal, bu I suppose if you ever come across someone deathly allergic to basic leaves, then it might not help them much.
no subject
...Okay, I blame Winn for that.
no subject
A very small quirk up in the corner of his lips was the only tell that might give away he wasn't nearly as annoyed as he played at. Oddly enough, his absolute distaste of puns had faded a bit to minor annoyance with Justice's departure.]
Sure, blame someone who can't defend himself. Do that again and I tell Ravi you're watching your figure and to keep all desserts from you.
[Not that they had a huge dessert menu on the ship, even with their cook's more exploratory cooking, but still.]
no subject
You're the one threatening to put someone else in the middle of it when he can't defend himself. Do you really want to put Ravi in that kind of impossible position? I am a sweet-seeking missile and I don't miss.

When not checking out the under water world or at his shifts at The Space Bar, Vash can be found in the pilot seat updating the maps he's been keeping of where they've been as best he can. Star charts aren't easy, but he's been mostly managing.
Now and then he'll be in the cargo bay cleaning and maintaining the guns he's bought over the years. One is a big silver one he's recently got in the temple. It's very water logged and needs a lot of attention at the moment.
He also likes to check on the plants that are on board. Still not completely knowing how to help care for them, but learning a bit more each time he visits.
Of course, he can also be found wandering around the ship at any point in his trademark red, leather duster jacket. Although his hair isn't up in it's usual spiky way the new crew will eventually get use to seeing. The water washes out all his hair gel so it hardly seems worth it as he leaves the ship frequently.
Or perhaps Vash has run into you.]
Hey, want to hear a joke?
no subject
Not so much like Magatsu, after all.]
no subject
He picks up her curious look, but misinterprets it.] Non-laser based guns don't exactly work well once they've been wet. I'm cleaning them out.
[As not all have probably seen a disassembled gun like the residents of Gunsmoke would have.]
no subject
It's rude to ask, so she just folds her hands together in their sleeves.] How are you today, Mr Vash?
no subject
Yeah, it's not a very good combination at all. [He sets his things aside and cleans his hands as he looks up at her with a smile.]
Pretty well. This water planet has been really interesting to explore. Also a great place to learn how to swim when you don't need to worry about accidentally taking too much water into your lungs. I never got to learn back home.
The water and my hair care products don't seem to mix too well. [He runs in fingers through his droopy hair.] If we're on this planet for more than a month maybe I should get it cut short. I haven't had short hair in years.
no subject
I know a man who has his hair much the same as yours, though in his case it was wild on its own. I suppose it surprised me to see such a change.
no subject
[Vash seems a bit surprised to hear of someone having hair like his without needing to put product into it.] Oh? He doesn't do anything with his hair at all? I mean, hair isn't really suppose to deny gravity on it's own. [He chuckles at the thought of everyone's hair going nuts if it could.] If I don't put my hair gel into it, or it washes out, then it just hangs down like normal hair.
Although, [He leans back in though.] Now that you mention it I think I have seen people around the fleet who's hair may be a bit... different then some of the hair I've seen back home.
no subject
Perhaps I should recommend such a practice to him. Hair...gel, you say? [Sounds sticky.]
no subject
no subject
No, I don't think that's necessary. Thanks all the same.
no subject
So, if you're not going to go onto the planet, what are you up to today?
no subject
Nothing of importance. [She's a simple lady with simple needs. Also, now her general curiosity is sated, she looks toward the door like she's going to move on.
...no, wait, she's not.]
If you don't believe in killing, why do you carry a gun?
1/2
Although, honestly? I tend to use it more as a deterrent. Some people will just leave you alone if they see you're armed. For the times that isn't enough to give someone a second thought about attacking me I've learned how to use this weapon in ways that won't kill someone.
I don't believe in killing. I don't have a problem with hurting people doing wrong. [Oh look! He can have a serious thought and conversation!]
2/2
Okay, maybe I have a little problem with hurting people. I don't like to do it, and just the sight of blood makes me feel sick. So I'd rather just run away if I can.
no subject
There's the ghost of a smile at his goofy laugh, gone again in an instant. She wishes she could live the way he wants her to. But.]
I don't like hurting people either. Causing suffering.
no subject
[A beat.] You know, I once told a man I would use this gun to help create equality and peace throughout the world. I thought that was going to be just a tad difficult back home. I guess I have to try even harder now that it's for the whole universe.

[Well, at least he's cheerful about it.]

Heh! Thanks! I appreciate it!
OTA - though not terribly approachable, what a rude Japanese lady
It's nothing personal. She'll get used to you guys eventually.
Probably by next mingleThat being said, she's still the epitome of polite and respectful, so she won't brush aside anyone who actually stops her for conversation.]no subject
The one that approaches Maki today is a small orange tabby, clearly in that awkward middle stage of not quite being a kitten, but not quite being a full-grown cat either.
He walks into the room like he owns it and everyone in it and hops up onto the table the woman sits at with her tea. When Pounce looks at her, there's a spark of intelligence in his green eyes and he seems to study her for a moment...
Before proceeding to lick one of his paws and clean his face.]
no subject
Hello, little one. [Not that she really expects an answer, and she continues mildly after a sip of her tea.] I suppose you must belong to one of our new crew members.
[Sometimes it's easier to talk with animals, all things considered.]
no subject
He couldn't talk, but being around magic and his fair share of the taint had made him smarter than an average tabby. Plus, he still had his cat intuition.
Pounce moved to where Maki sat and waved a paw to her, hoping to get some ear scratches out of the chance meeting.]
no subject
Are you hungry? Or just seeking affection?
