So I know I'm not the only one here who can boast both some experience and frustration with alternate worlds, dimensions, timelines, so on and futzing so forth. [ kate hits the network like she hits the ground: running. no hello, no hi, no how-do-you-do. ]

But, uh, I figured it might be good to gather some intel from people outside my little social circle. Personally, I've counted no fewer than six different versions of home. Including mine, but not including any other generally Earth-based worlds. I'm talking we had mutual acquaintances in common, but details were...different. Shout out to anyone who can identify me a seventh. It's like Pokemon at this point: gotta learn'em all.

What about the rest of you? Are other worlds a thing where you're from? A fact of life? Or are they pretty much the stuff of sci-fi -- culty, but soon to be a blockbuster reboot on a big screen near you?

[ -- and with that, she kicks back and waits to discuss the existential can-o-worms she just opened. part of it is almost masochistic, because she knows how little she doesn't want to learn about yet another world where the avengers exist, but she doesn't.

to take her mind off things, kate heads for her shift at málum over on the iskaulit. but something's...off, tonight. usually a paragon of coordination and balance, she's been breaking a lot of glasses tonight. futz, that's gonna come out of her pay. it puts her in a foul mood, so patrons can expect a bit of petulant surliness with their drinks. ]

I mean -- as considerations go, I'd expect this one to hypothetical. Unless you're planning to Hulk out on the game.

[He smiles.] I did something like that early on when I was learning to control my powers. I still have my off moments. [But so does Kara.]

[ladybro]

Man, at least I don't have to deal with that. [ an odd way to be cheered, but hey. ] I've got a friend who used to grow, like, giant when she got upset. Before she had her powers under control.

[He'll take what he can get in the cheering department.] So, extra awkward if she's indoors?

[ladybro]

Sure was. At least until she joined the team and we helped her out.

Teams are helpful for making things easier. It's hard to do everything alone. Especially hard to do the right things that way.

[ladybro]

Mmhm. Teams keep you in check. They're the people you're supposed to touch base with when things get out of hand -- they'll help.

[ and that's exactly what clint failed to do. it's still eating at her. ]

Are you feeling teamless now?

[ladybro]

I guess I am -- that is, I am running solo. Back home. It's just me and my job.

[ far away from the heroes she used to know. ]

[Now you're just a hero that I used to know.]

Why did you go solo?

[ladybro]

A lot of bogus shit went down in New York -- a lot of conflict, a lot of damage. And before that, my old team started to go their separate ways. Don't get me wrong; we stay in contact with each other. But it's more back-to-back snapchats than back-to-back fights.

[spacebro]

[He nods, thinking it might be related to some of the things she told him before too.] Do you miss having a team or do you like it on your own?

[ladybro]

I left. All of my own accord. That was my choice.

[ so she should like it on her own, right? and most days it's not so bad. she's only started regretting it once she woke up in the fleet again. annoyingly enough. ]

[spacebro]

[He nods slowly.] Sure. But does that mean you like it better? [Even a lonely little Daxamite knows that isn't the same thing.]

[ladybro]

[ ok, realtalk. ]

I like it better than what home turned into, yeah. [ ... ] But I don't like it more than what home used to be.

Does that make sense?

[spacebro]

I think so.

Have you thought about having a team here? It wouldn't be the one you used to have. Maybe not even people from your world.

[ladybro]

Technically, the Avengers who are here count me in their number. I think. Hard to be certain when they never even met me before they got here.

[ and there's cling. but that's a toughie. ]

Plus I'm not easy to work with. [ but this gets a smile. ] I've accepted that about myself.

[spacebro]

You? [But Mon-El liked you immediately and finds you so easy to talk to.] Why do you say that?

[ladybro]

I pretty much forced my way onto the Young Avengers, years ago. Then made everyone change their codenames. [ well, not everyone. ] And their outfits. Someone had to save those boys from themselves. One of them thought it was okay to call himself Asguardian, as if that's not just begging for bad headlines.

[spacebro]

[Okay, that gets a laugh from Mon-El.] It sounds helpful. It also sounds like something Winn might do without the joining.

[ladybro]

You see. There's a reason why Winn and I get along. [ kate has different facets for different people -- most of them authentic, but every person gets their own kind of personalized version of kate bishop. ]

I don't know. For real? Part of me thinks I'm not ready to follow someone else's leadership -- not yet, at least.

[spacebro]

Winn's great. [He's always been a friend to him.] You could be the leader if you started a new one.

[ladybro]

I figured everyone else has too many of their own -- very valid -- allegiances to just jump on board with me but...hey, it's doable.

[ a beat. ] And as we've already established, I'm great.

[spacebro]

We did. And I've never tried to start a team here so I don't really know how hard it would be, but I have faith in you.
