[Someone got a set of books when he was dragged along, completely against his will, through a temple exploration adventure. And promptly started studying them the instant he got back to Twin Roses and free time. Which lead to a couple sleepless nights and now this.

Khadgar has three books spread evenly around him, a notebook under one of those, and one book in front of him. Or rather, it's under his face. His sleeping face. Learning new magic is fun!

No really, he loves it.]

[She finds him asleep over his books in the kitchen when she walks through. She spends a moment glancing over the open pages and then giving him a fond sort of look before leaning in closer.

In a low, soft voice.] Khadgar... Khadgar, the ship is on fire. [The ship is not on fire.

She's fond, but she's still a troll at heart.]

[That's just rude! Khadgar jerks away and sits up, eyes glowing and ice forming at his fingertips as he looks to Kitty. And then he slowly comes to the realization, as his mind fully wakes, that nothing is actually on fire. And the glow in his eyes and ice on his fingers fades.]

... That wasn't fair.

It was more effective in waking you than expected. I'll put that in my notes. [There aren't any notes.] Also good to know in case the ship ever is on fire. [She pats him on the back.] Were you up late?

I'd rather not have a heart attack this young, if you're going to wake me up.

[So rude.

The pat on his back just reminds him of how uncomfortable sleeping like that is. Not that it's ever stopped it from happening.] I guess I was? I didn't even notice the time, I don't even remember falling asleep.

[goldenglasses]

[Hm, hopefully Khadar won't wake up as this marker starts to draw a smiley face on his cheek.]

[He has the worst captains. Ever.

And luckily for someone, he just barely stirs. Probably because of what little facial hair he has so he doesn't notice.]

[Vash is at least nice enough to make the smiley face into a caricature of himself so Khadar will know who to blame when he finds it. He also doesn't draw anything vile just a star on his forehead.

He then puts the marker away, takes a moment or two for his giggles to die down before he clears his throat. Loudly.] Ah-HEM!!!

[What a 'good' captain.

Poor Khadgar, tired as he was and not really remembering falling asleep, jerks upright in his seat in a panic.]

That seems like a very specific and difficult request, but if it's important to you... [Little smile.] What are you working on so diligently?

It feel pretty important. I want to live into my twenties, at least. [heh]

I got some books in one of those water temples. On magic, things the Kirin Tor kept but I never got a chance to study.

Bold goal. [Did she ever tell you about the time she was supposed to die at nineteen in her world but then she got abducted by mysterious overlords and now she's twenty one?]

So it's compatible with the magic of your world?

It's only a few years. [No but should he offer to protect her?]

Actually, it is my worlds magic. These books, I'm pretty sure I saw them in the library in the Violet Citadel.

[She managed to make it until now and life is safer here.]

Right. So, you're eager to learn all you can?

[touchallthebooks]

[That's good at least. Khadgar just has an urge to keep people safe sometimes.]

Yeah. I always have been. I guess that's part of why I was next in line to be Guardian.

[It's a pretty good impulse.]

Well, I'm going to teach you something that might not be in your books. You should get rest in between lessons.

[goldenglasses]

[Vash just smiles kindly and literally bites at his inner cheek to keep from laughing.] Oh hey, where you sleeping in here? You know, that's not very good for your neck at all!

[See how helpful and nice he's being!]

[He chuckles softly. And then huffs a little.]

I usually sleep enough! I just couldn't wait to study some of these. I'll probably try some in a couple days too.

[He just stares for a moment longer before pinching at his eyes and bridge of his nose.]

Yeah, I guess I was. I've slept in worse places though.

[goldenglasses]

Yeah? [It's the type of 'yeah' that says Vash is happy to hear if he wants to continue, but he won't push past what has already been given.

He leans over closer to look at the books. Partly because if he honestly keeps looking at Khadgar's face he might start laughing.] What are you reading anyway?

Anywhere I could sleep really. I didn't stop into towns very often. [He avoided them, he means.]

Magic. These are some of the books I never got to read when I was in Dalaran so when I found them [shrug] I couldn't really wait to read them.

[goldenglasses]

You found them? Like from a sponsor or the temple? Or did you find them for sale on a planet?

[Because that third option would open to some interesting questions.]

One of the water temples, I got dragged along to explore one. [He hated it at the time, not so much now.] They were sealed up tight in plastic, not even a little water damage.

You want to try new spells on my ship? [She raises an eyebrow.]

I'm not going to blow anything up, if that's what you're worried about. [He's not (that much of) a reckless kid.]

I'm sure there's a wide variety of newly wielded magic destruction to unleash that's far more nuanced than just blowing things up.
