Who: Velvet Crowe and You!
Broadcast: Fleetwide
Action: aboard the SS Red Fish
When: right after the Shuffle
[Velvet had woken up in one strange tin can and had only just started to get her bearings when she was suddenly transported to another strange tin can. This isn't how she was expecting today to go.
She stumbles a little but manages to catch herself, oblivious to the fanfare that signals her arrival.]
Where--?
[She takes a moment to steady herself, shaking her head to clear it. She blinks, focusing on her surroundings, trying to make sense of things.]
...Is that pudding?
[Where does pudding fit into all this? And that's not even mentioning the confetti. Actually she hasn't even noticed that yet, or the fact that a lot of it has fluttered into her hair. She looks pretty festive for someone so cranky.]

Re: action
Yeah. Lots of them.
action
[Try being the operative word, really.]
action
[Those are the three biggest questions she has. Though she doesn't necessarily expect Laura to be able to answer all three of them, she might as well lay them all out at once.]
action
We don't know. And you can't.
People eventually leave but we don't know why. Or how. They're just gone one day.
Re: action
Seriously? No one knows?
action
[She frowns faintly. It was a question that frustrated her too.]
Sorry.
action
Okay, what about weapons? When I woke up mine were gone.
action
[Hm.]
Do you know what augment you were given?
action
Augment? Guess not.
action
It teaches you things you need to know for the fleet. Security, or piloting, or medicine...
action
So, not only did they kidnap us, they messed with our heads?
action
[Sorry.]
But they can be useful.
action
[Though she'll still make use of it. She just can't help but be mad about it.]
So you're saying something in my head is going to...teach me about some part of this ship?
action
[Laura could be a pragmatist at times.]
You will instinctively know how to fly. Or use the medical equipment. Or unlock the armory.
Re: action
[She glances around the ship thoughtfully, trying to figure this out.]
action
[Laura had gotten security, and already knew how to defend herself so all it had done was unlock the armory for her. So she wasn't sure.]
That is how people describe it.
action
This.
[It all seems familiar even though she's quite sure she's never laid eyes on it before in her life.]
action
Try it.
[She said as they came up on the piloting chair. Laura was a proponent of winging it, it seemed.]
action
[She does move closer to study the controls and what not. She's still a little dubious of all this.]
action
[Laura just leans her shoulder against the cockpit door and waits. Enough hemming and hawing, Velvet.]
action
[She takes a seat and starts poking at things, mostly just doing what feels right rather than putting too much thought into it. So far nothing is exploding, which seems like a positive sign.]
Is there anywhere in particular we should go?
action
We can't go far. Take us up into orbit, then loop around the planet, and bring us back down into the sea docks.
[If that augment is working, she's pretty sure all that would make sense...]
Re: action
[She's entirely certain she's never heard that particular combination of words said to her, and yet somehow she understands what Laura means. It's disconcerting. But she goes with it. She's not going to back down now.
She takes the ship into orbit. Though, as it turns out understanding the mechanics of something is slightly different than actually applying it. So it's not exactly a smooth ride. But she's doing it.]
action
Good job.
action
[That's good enough. Hopefully she doesn't have to pilot when someone prone to motion sickness is on board, though.]
