Recipe #001 - Arrival
Who: Ignis Scientia
Broadcast: Network Communication
Action: Aboard the Marvisa
When: On the evening of the 28th
[When he'd stepped aboard the ship in Caem, he'd known that he'd be leaving behind everything he'd ever known for the unknown, but this? Not what he had in mind. The others are nowhere around—something that set off all of the panic buttons in his brain—and he is mostly definitely not in a water craft.
The air is chilled, but there's no salty tang. He's warm and feels as if he's enveloped in a blanket. After a few moments of trying to get his bearings, he leaves what appears to be a bed in a...medical type room. A search of his person turns up his cellphone, his notebook, pen and... another communications device. He takes a few seconds to appraise it before opening to use the item.]
Hello. I'm not sure whom I'm addressing, but my name is Ignis Scientia. As I appear to be new to this place and there are others here as well, I would like to know where I am and what is going on.
[The look on his face says that if you waste his time, he will hang up on you.]
Also, if anyone knows the whereabouts of Prompto Argentum, Gladiolus Amicitia or Noctis Caelum, I would appreciate being told.

You owe me nothing, dear Ignis. I am rather surprised that you were brought here also by our unknown captors.
[He used the word captors, since it did feel as if they were aboard some kind of space prison. How would they all cope? Now that Noct's chef was here, perhaps he'd automatically seek out his Highness to protect him. Aw, sweet.]
Oh, I see. Noctis tell you of his brave fight between him and I? Such an angry boy. I don't seek to get anything out of it, my boy. Just a casual conversation. Is there anything wrong with that?
no subject
I would assume that it would be surprising for anyone brought here. Not just the citizens of Eos.
[But after every word from the older man's mouth, Ignis has the feeling that he needs to talk to Noctis more and more.]
I can't say that I'm surprised that you and he came to blows. You've been nothing but "mysterious" and untrustworthy from the second we saw you in Galdin Quay. I doubt you do anything "casually", Chancellor.
no subject
Indeed. Quite a predicament we're in it seems. Lost in space.
[He found it all rather mysterious but also a tad annoying that he'd been placed within a reality space opera without prior consent.]
Your young prince seems to have something against me. I've only sought to help you on your quest as a guide and also a friend.
[You have permission to laugh at his last comment, Ignis. This guy is full of shit.]
But what would life be without a little bit of mystery, hm? Dull. I like to liven things up to the point of making people use their brains to solve things. Something I believe you will rise to the occasion, Ignis. You seem a level above your friends, having knowledge and temperament to match.
no subject
I'm sure that you'll make the most of it. You seem the resourceful type.
[He raises an eyebrow at the "friend" remark and just barely manages to call him out on his bullshit. No need to show his true feelings just yet.]
We could do without your sort of help and liveliness. "Guiding" us to Meteor and then attacking Titan while we were there has sort of left a bad impression on me in regards to you. If Noctis doesn't trust you, well, that's just smart.
Flattery is also useless. Please cease.
no subject
Oh, I am. You'll find I can be quite adaptable when I want to be.
[A flash of his amber eyes and a small smirk crossing his lips.]
You wound me, dear Ignis. After all this time I have only been aiding and guiding your hopeless band of warriors to your goals. Alas, there were some slight hitches along the way. Unavoidable I'm afraid. Your words cut me like a knife.
[He knows how hard you are, Ignis. Unmoving and unwavering towards your duties. It's touching, really.]
no subject
I would imagine so. One doesn't become chancellor of an empire by being useless.
[So, what is your real use? And that smirk? Not helping your cause.]
Hopeless. Yes, I suppose it would appear so from your point of view. Especially since it was your meddling in the first place that created the hindrances we came upon along our travels.
[Except for the car breaking down. That was all them.]
As for your feelings, they are irrelevant to the conversation.
[Immortal but a child, how great.]
no subject
[He smiled at the word useless. Ardyn Izunia was far beyond being useless.]
My meddling? Oh, but I didn't place those things in your way. They were already there and you had to use your wits and skills to tackle them in your own ways. More fun in a challenge, hm? I was just a bystander.
[He was a bastard and he knew it.]
I do believe you are trying to shake my affections off, dear Ignis. Is it his Highness? Did he tell you not to talk to me? He's such a rude boy lately.
no subject
Yes, and I'm sure that you had nothing to do with them. I'm not certain that I'm partial to your idea of a challenge. I could do without it, in fact.
[And Ignis knows you're a fuck too. Don't try to be friends.]
Noctis doesn't need to tell me not to speak to you. He might be my king, but I can make up my own mind.
no subject
If there is no challenge in life, then where would it all end? In ultimate boredom. No one wants that, do they? You and your friends are warriors not shop keepers or gondola drivers. You don't carry out mundane tasks everyday like them. No, you strive to protect his Highness from threats and enemies so that he may complete his destiny.
[Mocking? Perhaps.]
I'm sure you can. In fact, I know you can. You seem to be a cut above the rest when it comes to intelligent conversation.
no subject
We did not need your assistance in making our lives more interesting. I assure you they would have been enlivened well enough without your interference. It is one of the benefits of being so close to the Chosen King.
[He waves off the compliment about his intelligence. He has no sue for this man's words. They're like poisoned honey mead. He doesn't need to look deep to see that.]
no subject
Is it now? What benefit do you gain being so close to his Majesty? Last time we met the boy was sulky like a moody teenager going through puberty. He needs to face up to reality and stop living like a little boy if he wants any chance of becoming king.
[That's it, Ardyn, press all of Ignis' buttons. Insult Noctis.]
no subject
When you saw him, he was grieving. I do believe that is a human trait that even kings are allowed to have. Anyone unwilling to extend common courtesy to a fellow being is less than dirt.
[Know your true place, hobo.]
no subject
[He can play ball, however you want it.]
There is no need for him to grieve now, is there? His beloved lady and princess is alive.
no subject
[He's not going to play with an unequipped rival. It would be pointless. What Ignis doesn't know about the Astrals rivals what he knows of being an actual human being. Something Ardyn is seriously lacking.]
I believe he still has to contend with his father, king, country and a trusted subordinate all dying senselessly.
[Ignis's eyes narrow at the mention of Lady Lunafreya. Noctis had said they needed to discuss things privately. This was, perhaps, one of those things. No wonder his friend had been so reluctant. What was Izunia playing at by telling him this now?]
no subject
[This guy knows all about it, since he was the one orchestrating the eventual downfall of Regis and Insomnia. He played his cards behind the scenes, acting the innocent spokesman of an Empire until he found his niche and struck. He offered Ignis a coy smile and adjusted his fedora.]
All that death. It would be a shame of our poor prince Noctis befit the same fate as his father.
no subject
I always find needless death a waste. And it's my duty to make sure that Noctis stays alive and well. I intend to fulfill that particular duty. Now, if you'll excuse me.
[And before Ardyn speaks, Ignis cuts the connection so he isn't forced to see that smug, arrogant face any more.]
no subject
Until next time, Ignis.
