this is a mingle for everybody, whether they're hiding in the volcano, out and about in the city, or up on one of those random random stations where you can get quirky souvenirs.]

You know, I've only ever had a couple really good picnics before. And that was when I was really little. The weather on my planet was never overly nice for them. Maybe that's why they need all that bread! To have a giant sandwich picnic!!!!

The weather here isn't that bad, so maybe it is for something like that. Although there aren't many good places to have a picnic around here...

[Not enough nature. Nature is ideal for a good picnic.]

Hm? You think so? Ah, well! I'll leave that to the picnic expert! It's been so long since I had a good one I would have thought at least one place out in the forest would have a nice spot!

Well, I'm not really an expert...the forest might be nice, actually, but I haven't seen many townspeople there.

Hm, I suppose you're right. I hope there's nothing wrong with the forest because it seems like the prefect spot for a picnic if you ask me! You know; for two? If you catch my drift.

...Huh?

[He can't mean--but no, that's silly, isn't it?]

You hungry at all? I know I am after all this food talk! Give me about a half an hour to an hour and I bet I could get us a great picnic pulled together!

Um, no, I'm all right...

[She's getting a little flustered.]

Aw, you sure? Not even a tiny little bit? Like just a snack or something?

No, I'm not hungry. Perhaps another time?

Alrighty then! Guess I'll just have to go hungry! Allllllllllllll alone. [Vash pouts. Lower lip sticking out slightly as he does his b at to look like a kicked puppy.] If only I could find someone willing to eat with me! [His eye glances over to see if his rise is working at all.]

[...She knows she's being played. She knows very well; he's only slightly more subtle than Norma. And yet here she is.]

I guess I'm not up to anything urgent right now.

[But wait, was he flirting with her earlier or not? And none of the guys she knows are remotely close to being models on that front, especially not Senel. She doesn't want this guy to get the wrong idea, she's learned really well that miscommunication ends badly.]

Um...just as acquaintances, of course.

[Maybe for normal people that would work, but right now Shirley was dealing with an idiot.] Really? Really, really you will? GREAT! And yes! I agree! Take it slow! We can move onto being a couple on the second date! I'll go find us a blanket to sit and cuddle on! [He strings his sentences together so fast it's a wonder he doesn't pace out from lack of air. Not giving Shirley anytime to interrupt before he's rushing off to find said blanket. Unless she stops him or chase after him he's on a mission to find a blanket like his life depends on it!]

No, I don't--

[But she can't find an opening to get a word in, and before she knows it he's off and she has to go running after him, shouting in the hopes of catching his attention this time. She's made a mess of this very quickly, better try to fix it before anything more happens!]

No! It's not like that, I can't--I'm involved with someone already!

[Vash stops dead when he hears that she is involved. Careful or she may crash into his back.] Aw, really? Well, that's too bad. Ah well, we can still have a picnic as friends then!

And then when he messes up I can move in!

[Shirley didn't hear that last bit... did she?]

[Shirley totally just crashed into him with all the grace of a panicked chicken - so yes, she heard. She's a little distracted by the collision but it occurs to her while rubbing her head that she ought to say something...]

He's not here. And you're too old.

[Vash gasps as if he was shot with his eyes filling with horror.] I'm not that old! [He's a hundred and thirty years young!]

[And she's fifteen, so hey.]

You're older than I am.

[At least he doesn't seriously want to date her?]

So, I'm still not that old! But alright, a friendly picnic with friends it shall be then!

[He better not. :| Shirley's a little unsure about it though, it's not like she's had attention of the sort before.]

I didn't say we were friends, either. But that's fine with me.

[She's joking, though. Mostly.]

Well, I'd like tuna, if we can get some...

Tuna, huh? I may not find tuna exactly, but I may find some kind of fish to make like tuna!

I don't know if there is any here, to be honest. But if there is, I'd like it very much.

[It's not as if they're close to the water around here. It's kind of weird, that they've been to all these places and none have an appreciable ocean.]

I will search at every shop if I must! If tuna exists here I shall find it! And if not.... I'll at least bring some chicken sandwiches. Chicken alright?
