this is a mingle for everybody, whether they're hiding in the volcano, out and about in the city, or up on one of those random random stations where you can get quirky souvenirs.]

Oh you know, just the usual. Just haven't been in a chatty mood.

[Sorta. Kinda. But whatever subject change!!]

What about you? What've you been up to?

[ino]

[ A bit of a shrug ]

I've been out in the forest, mostly. Avoiding this stupid town.

[wilder]

Oh? Not a fan?

[ino]

Is there anything to be a fan of?

[wilder]

Wouldn't know. I've stayed off-planet as much as possible.

[He shrugs] Heard a rumor the ale's not bad though.

[ino]

Sounds like you aren't much of a fan yourself. [ If you're staying off planet ... ]

[wilder]

Yeah, well...

[He crosses his arms, taking a moment to debate if he should say anything.]

I dunno, guess it just reminds me too much of home. Not in a good way.

[ino]

[ Excuse her, she has a brief moment where she's surprised he said anything ...

But it's just that, brief, and she's quickly back on track ]

Yeah, I get that. It's a lot like Paradisa, too, in all the worst ways.

[ But she puts on a small smile ]

At least we should be out of her soon, if the last places we visited are any indication.

[He frowns.]

Oh? How is it like Paradisa?

Well, we all lived in a giant evil sentient castle, for starters.

[ She gestures vaguely towards the direction of this castle ]

There was a town right next to it, occupied by a bunch of -- well, basically brainwashed people.

[ino]

... At least we're more than halfway through at this point, right?

[wilder]

[he raises a slight eyebrow. He's less than impressed about the castle comparison but the people-]

Basically brainwashed people?

[ino]

It's hard to explain.

[ Without explaining she went into their heads, anyways ]

But they just ... didn't seem like real people. There were times when they treated us like celebrities, or something to -- I don't know, idolize, I guess? And they had no idea about anything outside of their own little town ...

[wilder]

...Sounds like a softer version of Welgaia.

[In other words, creepy as hell.]

[ino]

Welgaia?

[wilder]

[Oh, so her Zelos didn't tell her that part? There's a pause as he debates if he should say more but....eh, screw it. What reason does he have to hide it]

It's where angels live. Except most of them there have been stripped of their souls. They don't feel, they don't think for themselves- just obey whatever command their leaders have given them like it's a divine rule.

As long as you don't get in the way of any of their routines, you can walk through the city without any of them noticing.

[ino]

[ .... grimaces ... ]

Something like that, though ... none of the townspeople ever had powers. And there was one point where the castle altered our memories to think that we -- that we were like them, too.

[wilder]

...Creepy.

[What else can you really say about that. He turns his head to look at the villagers out of earshot, going about their lives]

These people aren't like that though. Or the ones in Welgaia. They're real, they have souls. I haven't spent much time down here, but even I can tell that.

[ino]

I know.

[ She rubs an arm uncomfortably ]

It's not the same, but it's just close enough to make me really not want to be here.

[wilder]

Why? Because they give you the creeps?

[Annoyance comes across his face. Part of him can get why Ino is not happy to be here. And he'd be more sympathetic, especially since it sounds terrible what's going on with the Paradisa townspeople. But he was already in such a piss poor mood, and Ino was rubbing him the wrong way.]

Whatever. Try growing up in a world like this one. Then maybe you'll get why I don't want to be here.

[ino]

[ She jerks back a little in surprise, before ... looking mad ]

Because it reminds me of a shitty place where I spent about a third of my life, actually! And I'm sorry that you had to grow up that way, I really am, but you -- I mean, he never mentioned a damn word about any of that, so I don't know how I was supposed to know that!

[wilder]

You could have asked!

[He makes an annoyed sound and turns away.]

Ugh! Whatever. Just forget it.

[ino]

Maybe I was just trying to respect your privacy!

[ And then she's just standing there awkwardly with her fists clenched, not sure of what to say, suddenly kind of terrified he's going to hate her ]

[wilder]

Just- Nevermind!

[And he's moving to leave. Part of him knows he's overreacting from just everything else going on and he just needs to...vacate. Yeah.]

[ino]

[ ... ]
