[the elf is out wandering, following much that same itch for little, pretty things. and, of course, it always strikes when he's got nothing to spend.

there's no real intent behind his browsing, which means that his attention is free to be easily pulled off somewhere else. and, in this case, his gaze gets drawn up to a nearby face.

it's a funny way that the elven brain works--visual cues cut right through the conscious thought part of the mind and hit right to the back of it. he's glancing up and staring at someone before he even really notices that he's doing it.

this is what he gets for walking around with the filter on his modulator shut off. he gets to see through the illusions, right to the good stuff.]

[Felix has often made a sport of being stared at. He'd gotten very good at turning his unusual appearance to his own advantage, building on his height, hair, and eyes that were unusual even in the Mirador. He added to that mix a wardrobe meant to turn every wandering gaze into a slight production. The sapphire blue doublet he's wearing now still lacks a few measures of ostenatiousness, but he no longer looks like a peasant to everyone else.

Even so, no one has stared at him quite like that lately. He feels the weight of it even before he turns to discover it's source. He's anything but bothered by it, and he returns the look with a blazing smile]

[and Nel reflects that smile automatically--reflexively bright and charming right back. it's a good defense; the little elf wears it well.]

Oh... was I staring? [the feigned bashfulness isn't meant to look genuine, in this case.] Sorry.

[Respectable is a relative word, but he doesn't bite. He accepts the hand and shakes it gently.]

Nel. [He repeats the name, rolling it over in his mouth experimentally. Almost lovingly.]

My name is Felix. It's a pleasure to meet you. What ship are you from?

Felix? That's a cool name.

[not exactly the same as Felix' way of appreciating a name, but the sentiment is similar.]

And, oh, I'm from Three Twins... which I still think is a dumb name, but I guess it could be worse.

It's the least of our problems, yes. I'm enjoying what time we're allowed out of them. So far this town is actually an improvement.
