[Welcome to Doudanuki's Very Important PSA. He turns on the video and stands back, dressed in the Fleet provided beige jumpsuit. He has his sword sheathed in one hand and clears his throat.]

Alright, since I've had to explain this rusts know how many times just on the last planet, I figured I'd just show you all at once.

My name's Doudanuki Masakuni. I'm a war sword, and yes, I mean that literally. This body? [He points to the human form.] Is a manifestation. This body? [He holds the sword out in front of him.] Is my real body.

I'm a tsukumogami. I live in a sword. I have a human body 'cause my saniwa, my current master, used their powers to give me one. And in case you keep doubtin' me?

[He tosses his sword on his bunk behind him. Then he suddenly disappears in a flash of light just as the sword hits the bed.

A moment later he reappears in a flash of light and a shower of cherry blossom petals, dressed in his usual armor and black clothing. He's now holding his sword across his lap as he sits cross-legged on the bed. For a moment he looks disoriented, then he shakes his head, dislodging a few cherry blossoms, and looks at the camera again.]

If you got questions, I'll answer them today and today only. After that, don't tell me I can't be a sword or I'll punch you.

Never know - she might. Dunno how enchantresses work in your time, but in mine, they had to stick somewhere nearby for the illusions to keep their strength.

Hmm, I never thought of that possibility. There is a little village not too far from the castle...

[He hasn't been there since before the curse, but it's still standing. Belle came from there, after all. ]

It's a pretty likely place to hide then. Nearby enough she can watch and see what's going on, far away enough none of you are probably gonna just stumble on her.

And here's me thinking she no longer had ant interest in us. Ten years is a long time to just...wait.

[He's not immortal and ten years seems short even to him. He waited over 400 years to be useful again after all.]

You make a very fine point, there. Though I'm hardly mortal at this present moment, ten years felt like a long, long time.

[He does worry. If the curse is never lifted, what will happen to them? Will they just be things for eternity? Not alive, not dead. Just...between? It's not a comforting thought. ]

You're still human though. Your idea of time's always gonna be more human than, well, us.

[Whatever "us" entails. His idea of waiting around didn't hit "long" until one hundred years. And "long, long?" was more of the two to four centuries mark.]

[It means so much to hear 'you're still human' to Lumiére. Because, of course, he is, but it's something that is very easily missed due to the whole...inanimate object thing. ]

That is very true. Time, it moves the same for me as it would any human. I just do not age.

Time for things like me, it moves slower. My idea of "a long time" is closer to a century or more at the very least. And up to a year or two ago, I didn't have a human body to have to worry about neither so aging? Not a thing I knew about other than watchin' some of my masters grow old and die.

So, does your human body age now? Or does it remain the same, largely to your being a sword?

Not that I know of. It's only been two years so it still might, but so far - nope.

[He doesn't feel older, at least.]

What about you? Your new body ever change any? Like the wax dropping low or something?

That might making blending in with humans a little tricky, mon ami. We notice when people around us remain the same for a long time.

[Let him help you on that one. ]

No. My wax remains the same. It melts if I get too close to a fire that is not my own, but otherwise, it does not melt at all.

Eh. I don't have to blend in with them because I don't live with 'em. I live with a bunch of other swords and my Saniwa.

[And with most of the world's human population, uh...dead, it isn't likely he'll have to do much blending in the future.]

So it'll stay like that for as long as you're a candlestick then? I guess that's good. You don't wanna have to replenish yourself.

Aha, no that would be a little awkward. It seems I remain as I am, unchanged, until the curse is broken.

It was until I got here. Now I gotta figure out how to live with a bunch of humans. [And non-humans that aren't swords.]
