[Strange things have been going on recently. You may have noticed notes appearing on your bookmarks or in your cookies that aren't even fortune cookies or written out in the dust on your desk—you should really clean that. They include:

But it hasn't kept the couple from being extremely cute with each other. His communicator kicks on for what can only be Atroma-related reasons as they walk hand-in-hand into the Goldstone's cargo bay.]

As you wish!! I mean, we could branch out, but you really can't top it for quality.

[He laughs.] Seventh time is the charm? Or are we on sixth? [He leans in, ready to kiss her when something catches his eye—a crate with his name on it.] What’s that?

How should I know? It has your name on it. Do you have a secret admirer now?

Maybe. I am a very good bartender. [Smiling as he walks over to it and without so much as a crowbar, he flips it open easily despite it being obviously nailed shut. Reaching in he pulls up a handful of condoms. He doesn’t notice the note.]

[Kara laughs. Not like a ha-ha-funny laugh but she's really taken off guard.] Um. Well that's… useful? I guess? How good a bartender are you?

If I’m this good I need a raise.

[Kara raises her eyebrows and notices something distinctly not-condom-like fall from the crate and goes to pick it up]

What’s that?

[She takes a moment to read it for herself before reading it aloud with a skeptical voice] "Mon-El and Natasha had sex."

[Mon-El’s eyes widen, but before he can reply the video cuts out. You’ll have to call in for the details.]

[He smiles but it fades because the reality of the situation is still there.] Watch out for her? I know she was pretty upset.

[ kate turns serious -- nodding into the camera. ]

[ then, coolly: ] For what it's worth, you're not the first guy I know -- personally -- who's fallen into Romanoff's web. And I doubt you're gonna be the last.

She didn't do anything wrong. [There was definitely some seducing. He was already pretty into Kara even if it wasn't returned, but he made his choice to go with it. And they had both been single at the time.]

Never meant to say she did. [ kate doesn't play that way. ] Just -- she's an Avenger who has a way of getting what she wants. I don't even wanna tell you how fast I crumbled and she was just trying to pry an address outta me.

I thought you were about to tell me you and she were together once.

Nope. I am the one token straight from the last Young Avengers roster. [ sorta. maybe. it's complicated. ] I can't speak for the other Hawkeye, though. He and the Widow got mad history.

And straight in this case means you only like men?

[ although america chavez might disagree. ]

I mean -- it's a scale, right? Or so said Kinsey. [ ... ] So I can't say for certain that things wouldn't be different for the right person.

[ but this is all very sentimental, so kate shakes her head. ] Thing is, though, that I'm really really not looking for anyone. Not my priority.

That sounds...almost scientific. On Daxam it was more about just doing whatever felt right at the time. And the more the merrier.

It turns out the one can be the merriest. [Or the most depressing when they need some time. But enough about him. He tilts his head and looks at her.]

Did something happen to make it really, really not a priority? [There's some concern.]

Sure, plenty. I just moved across the country, for one. And I've got pretty crap taste in men, sometimes, for another.

Although I fully respect -- and admire -- my friends' sweet-ass relationships, I just don't think it's for me. Not here. Not like this.

Because it's more likely than not you'll get separated and even if you did go home together you might not remember ever being together in the first place? [He has thought about it.]

[ nothing half so romantic as that. kate doesn't even blush when she answers: ] I'm not into being watched. Not my kink. Not by a long shot.

Not that I'd judge someone for, y'know, grooving to that feature. [ OPEN MINDED, HER. ] But I just don't think I could ever stop thinking about it long enough to actually [ uhhhm ] get down to business.
