[ Elena wakes with a start, her first thought being that she'd fallen asleep in one of the unused patient rooms. She rubs her arms with her hands, an attempt to chase away the chill and gives the room a good look. This isn't any room in the hospital. She puts her feet on the ground and stands. She's still dressed in the long-sleeved thermal top and blue scrubs she wears at work. She tucks a strand of her dark hair behind one ear.

Once she orients herself and does a little bit of exploring, she heads to one of the screens to browse the network and get a better grasp of this place. After that's done, she makes her own broadcast, giving the video screen a sheepish smile. ]

Hi, I'm Elena Gilbert. I just arrived and I've got no idea what to say here. Am I supposed to tell the class all about myself? I think I used to be good at this. [ She takes a deep breath then releases it. ] Whatever this is. I can honestly say this is my first time on a reality show though.

I can tell you with a hell of a lot of certainty my brother would tell you way too much if you asked.

[He smiles softly to himself at the thought.]

I'm Sam Winchester. Not a doctor, so I'm definitely not used to hearing it, but I've faked being one before. [Okay, maybe he's being a little bit of a shit; but it's honesty, so there's that. I investigate paranormal or supernatural murders and help stop anymore deaths from happening.

[ That makes her smile as well.] Is your brother here?

[ His confession about faking a doctor gets an eyebrow raised out of her and an amused look. However, when he continues to talk about investigating paranormal and supernatural things, her eyes narrow.] That's...very specific.

Unfortunately not. I think he'd hate the quiet and the whole... being here against his will angle, but... It'd be nice to have him around. [For a number of reasons. But he won't burden a newcomer with them.] Not as specific as you'd think. My world is full of... an interesting assortment of dangers, kinds that local authorities aren't really skilled at dealing with.

Spooky things in the dark tend to be pretty diverse.

That is the angle that rubs the most. [ She's been a bit overwhelmed with everything else to dwell on that much, but she hates it as well, regardless of who or what this adventure might entail. ] I've got a brother too. I haven't been here long enough to miss him, but...[ She will. She'd spent too much time away from Jeremy not to miss him. ]

A plethora of "animal attacks" [ Yes, she makes air quotes with her fingers. Clearly, her world is full of things like that as well. ] So you're a hunter?

[ She knows they're not all bad, but she also knows they're not all good. ]

You got it, yeah. "Animal attacks".

[He air-quotes right back at her, pleasant.]

That's me. I'm Sam -- um, but I don't really do much hunting nowadays. Everyone around here tend to not murder or maim people, so I'm pretty out of work.

[ While they may not know specifics about the other's worlds, they do know each other's language, so to speak.]

That's good to hear. I'm Elena. I'm not a hunter, but I've known a few. So what do you do here?

[He grins.]

... Mostly just a bartender now, actually. I've had a little experience with it, and hunters practically live in bars, so. Might as well work it.

And bartenders are always in demand. I guess that's true no matter which galaxy or planet you're in.

Oh, yeah, absolutely.

Alien liquor is a hell of a lot stronger, though. Trust me.

I'll keep that in mind when I'm taking a tour of the bars.

[ Sometimes she still forgets she's human again with a human tolerance of alcohol. After all, vampires becoming human is not a thing that's supposed to happen, and it doesn't. There are only two cases that she knows of. ]

Absolutely.

But if you ever need something fruity and enjoyable and doesn't taste like the bottom of a tar-laying truck, I can't help you out there.

[ She winces a little. ] Do I get judged if fruity and enjoyable isn't exactly my cup of...whiskey?

[ Once upon a time she'd enjoyed fruity and frilly. After becoming a vampire, she'd acquired a taste for whiskey and scotch. That acquired taste had stuck once she'd become human again. ]

I'm a hunter. They exist on the worst whiskey and moonshine.

Goes along well with the flannel.

[ She laughs at that. ]

The whiskey and moonshine I can forgive, but the flannel... [ Teasing. She actually likes flannel. She remembers her dad wearing it at the lake house. ]

Aaah, I know, right? One of the biggest sins.

People have tried to cure me of it, but I'm afraid I'm stuck in my ways.

That is a shame. [ She sighs dramatically.] but we've all got faults and sins. I guess flannel is better than say...knee high black socks with sandals.

Everyone's a critic.

Does this mean I should throw out my knee high black socks and sandals?

Well, we are on a reality show. I think you should expect this.

[ He gets a wince from her ] Yup. Stat. At least the socks. The sandals are acceptable on their own.

I don't know. I think my hair's getting too long to wear sandals without looking dorky.

It does lend to the hippy vibe. You might be able to pick up a pair of funky colored round sunglasses in this system.

Heh. I'll have to give that a hard pass.
