Who: Elena Gilbert
Broadcast: Yes
Action: Yes (on the hospitality deck of the Marsiva)
When: Now
[ Elena wakes with a start, her first thought being that she'd fallen asleep in one of the unused patient rooms. She rubs her arms with her hands, an attempt to chase away the chill and gives the room a good look. This isn't any room in the hospital. She puts her feet on the ground and stands. She's still dressed in the long-sleeved thermal top and blue scrubs she wears at work. She tucks a strand of her dark hair behind one ear.
Once she orients herself and does a little bit of exploring, she heads to one of the screens to browse the network and get a better grasp of this place. After that's done, she makes her own broadcast, giving the video screen a sheepish smile. ]
Hi, I'm Elena Gilbert. I just arrived and I've got no idea what to say here. Am I supposed to tell the class all about myself? I think I used to be good at this. [ She takes a deep breath then releases it. ] Whatever this is. I can honestly say this is my first time on a reality show though.

I remember the feeling. It's been awhile since I was new to the whole idea of being kidnapped by mysterious overlords, but it's not something you forget.
How can I help? Get some questions out of the way.

[ She smiles gratefully at Kitty. ]
I think I've got about a hundred and one questions. Jobs. I'm assuming everyone has one here. Can we choose? Or do we just get shuffled into one?

Ready for a surprise though? You do need money here, but not everyone has a job. We get paid for being interesting. Whether we like it or not. [She's not a fan, but tries not to think about it.] High ratings mean high payouts. And you have television back home, so I think you can imagine what kinds of things get you high ratings.
There are a few jobs, but as far as I know it's just the ones at the bars on the Iskaulit that pay. I could be wrong though. You could check around some of the other Isakulit set ups. [Which makes her think of Stefan but she doesn't bring him up just yet.] You can usually find temporary work of various types at the systems we stop at. I do a lot of transport jobs since I'm a pilot.

[ Her brows go up...and up...and up. ] I think I read something about a reality show? I didn't really get it though. [ Cue the incredibly dubious looks. Elena doesn't think she'll like it much either. ] And I'm assuming everything is fair game. [ She's seen a reality show or two. ]
But don't those shows generally get celebrities? [ And she's just a normal girl. Sort of. Now, anyway. ]
I'm actually a doctor and that's what I'd like to keep doing. [ her head is whirling with the idea of reality shows, planets and systems. ] I guess I could probably bartend if I had to. [ She doesn't know much about mixed drinks, but she could learn. ]

So, you're a doctor though? [Clearly surprised to hear that part. Is it rude to ask someone if they're a vampire doctor? Would it be doctor vampire?] The ships have doctors. I mean, we don't really get paid for our duties I don't think, but that doesn't mean you can't.

But someone is watching, or do we not even know that for sure? [ This is all very confusing. Sure, maybe she'd thought about how it would be fun to be on a reality show once upon a time, but she's long grown out of that. ]
I am. I recently got my license and started working in the ER at a hospital in Mystic Falls. [ There are definitely doctors that are vampires, but there aren't doctors for vampires, at least not as far as Elena knows, and at this point in things, she wouldn't consider it rude if Kitty did ask. ] So we're a little like residents here. [ She smiles as she says it. ] You're a pilot, you said. How long have you been here?
no subject
[Mystic Falls still tracks at least.] I guess the Elenas I met were younger.
Mm, a year and... two months I guess. And I'm a pilot because of my augment. I mean, I could fly planes back home too, but I wouldn't have called myself a pilot.

[ Elena tilts her head a little in a gesture of agreement. She sees where Kitty is coming from there. She takes a sharp breath at the time period Kitty gives. ] Wow...that's a long time. [ She hasn't actually considered that she could be stuck here for a significant amount of time yet. ]
The augments are...interesting. Useful, I guess, but incredibly invasive.

Of course, while I'm not bothered by the time I do really hate the augments. I can learn to fly a spaceship on my own. I don't need their help and I definitely don't need their interference on other things.

Okay. I definitely won't try to remove it. Although, I'd like to know how they put them in.

[ That makes Elena frown even more. She can understand surgical. She can 'grasp' that action but everything else...]
That's scary, not that the augments weren't creepy enough before.

And if they can get in our heads to implant those...[ Well, the rest goes unsaid. Elena shudders a little at the thought of it. She hates vampire compulsion because it takes away her control and her memories, but she's been the victim of it either by choice or chance more than once. The augments are worse somehow. ]

[ True enough and Elena isn't sure anyone likes being under the control of someone they can't fight or reason with. ] I don't blame you. It's not a theme I'm liking much either.

On the plus side, it's not all doom with a matching side of gloom here. [She's pretty happy in love so while she doesn't want to sugarcoat anything she can't really say she's miserable either.]
When they shuffle you off the Marsiva onto one of the other ships we should get together. Chat. I'll even find you some food that isn't awful. Not that you can appreciate the awful until you're on the regular ships with their space food selections. The Marsiva is a little better off in that department.

She smiles at the offer. ] That would be really great. Thanks, Kitty.

As far as getting blood goes, I think that's something the doctor on your ship, assuming there is one, can set up for you.
[Just, you know, assuming things.]

I'm not a vampire anymore. I'm 100% cured human. [ Also The Cure, but she's not advertising that. ]
