[ Elena wakes with a start, her first thought being that she'd fallen asleep in one of the unused patient rooms. She rubs her arms with her hands, an attempt to chase away the chill and gives the room a good look. This isn't any room in the hospital. She puts her feet on the ground and stands. She's still dressed in the long-sleeved thermal top and blue scrubs she wears at work. She tucks a strand of her dark hair behind one ear.

Once she orients herself and does a little bit of exploring, she heads to one of the screens to browse the network and get a better grasp of this place. After that's done, she makes her own broadcast, giving the video screen a sheepish smile. ]

Hi, I'm Elena Gilbert. I just arrived and I've got no idea what to say here. Am I supposed to tell the class all about myself? I think I used to be good at this. [ She takes a deep breath then releases it. ] Whatever this is. I can honestly say this is my first time on a reality show though.

[He chuckles, good-natured.]

I've managed to work with what we have, though, and if you are in need of anything more edible, do let me know. I work as a chef at a bar aboard the Iskaulit, and I host breakfast and dinner meetings for my crew on the Tourist. But you're more than welcome to stop by for some, too.

[ Jarvis, do you really want to be a dad figure to Elena because you're working your way there quickly.]

Oh, I try to avoid them at any time. [ She's fortunate that as long as she eats well most of the time, she maintains her weight. ]

That's very sweet of you. I might take you up on that offer once I get access to a shuttle. Have you always been a chef?

[He's everyone's dad, it's okay. Just embrace it.]

Not quite; I've just always enjoyed baking.

I'm actually a butler to an inventor; a simple job description, but it's apt.

[ Oh, she totally will.]

Stefan tried to teach me to cook back home, but he failed pretty spectacularly.

[ That gets a sort of surprised look from her. ] Is that anything like a household manager?

[ She's thinking that maybe it's a more PC title like administrative assistant.]

Oh dear, and Mr. Salvatore is such a good chef in his own right...

[He's distracted from that sad thought by -- oh. He blinks.]

I suppose that is a way to put it... I handle quite a lot of Mr. Stark's estate, as a servant of sorts at his place of residence. A butler certainly manages a lot.

[ Have a bright smile at that mention. ] He is. Unfortunately, I'm not a very good student, at least in that regard. [ It could have been the whole distracted by her boyfriend (at the time) thing. ]

I can really only imagine. We weren't really butler-having people back home. At least, no one I know was.

[ Though she knows Stefan and Damon had a family member manage the Salvatore estate while they were gone all those years from Mystic Falls. She's not quite sure that counts as a butler. ]

As said butler, I wouldn't mind helping you. Or at least making sure you don't go hungry while you practice burning things less and less.

I'm not sure the hope is strong with me, but I'm willing to give it another shot. After all, I have to be an adult and eat from something besides the vending machine at some point.

[ She smiles at his offer. ] I'd like that very much. Thank you.

Oh yes. It's dreadful. If you would ever like a more homely meal, feel free to visit the Tourist. I have routine breakfasts and dinners made there.

I promise I will even if I somehow develop the Chef gene. Is that where you live?

Indeed, that's the ship I've been assigned to. As a pilot! It's not quite the airplane I'm used to, nor the chauffeuring I do on a weekly basis at home, though the concept is familiar enough.

You're the second pilot I've talked to. You drive one of the shuttles then? Between the ships?

Correct! I can also pilot it quite a ways from the fleet ships as well. Not too far, since they tend to bring us right back somehow, but they can leave the fleet up to a certain distance.

So running away is out of the question, not that I'd know what to run away to.
