CRIMES Part 1
Who: Isabela and any fellow Criminals (obviously established CR is encouraged, but if you think your character could have been reasonably referred to come along for Crimes, feel free to drop in! If there's any question about it, drop me a pm or message me at
digitalsocrates)
Broadcast: None
Action: Opportunities insufficiently guarded. Victimless crimes. More details here. Also feel free to drop your own OTAs.
When: Throughout the latter half of april. part 2 will continue through may.
Summer has been a tourist long enough. Corbius offers everything that a ne'er-do-well could ever wish for. Safe ports to spend your money. Lawless skies to lie, cheat and steal. Shady ports willing to buy things with minimal questions asked. A pirate's paradise.
The problem is, she doesn't have a ship, or a crew.
But that's a quick fix, isn't it? There are three requirements to come along with Summer:
1) She's the captain. If she gives you an order, follow it or you're gone.
2) Be discreet. She doesn't want the whole fleet to know about this.
3) Be capable. If you can't carry you're weight, you're out.
{{ We need a ship. Or ships. More ships is better }}
[ It takes a few days of polishing palms and making friends, but Isabela and and her crew have tracked down the headquarters of the raider group the Redtops. One ship, two dozen raiders, and the element of surprise (hopefully). It's a two-pronged attack, one from the ground, trying to infiltrate the ship, and the other from whatever shuttles have been borrowed for the purpose of the attack to pick off the ones outside. ]
{{ Aboard the newly christened Aveline }}
[ The Aveline, as Summer explains it, is big, mannish and clumsy, but still has a mystifying charm about it, just like her namesake.
Also as the Captain of a ship, Summer thinks that 'Captain Summer' doesn't have a very intimidating ring to it. ]
I'm thinking 'Captain Knifeblood.' Maybe Bladeskull? Deatheyes? No, no I got it, its on the tip of my tongue.
{{ Why are all her friends so Lame? }}
[ This cargo ship is travelling through non-jurisdiction space without any weapons to speak of, and no escort. Honestly, it's asking to be robbed. So why is her crew suddenly on the verge of mutiny? ]
Look, I'm sure it's all insured. [ There is no way that it's insured. ]
{{ FIIIIINE. AKA we'll rob bad guys instead }}
[ Captain TBD would like it stated on the record that she hates all of you, though.
It doesn't take long to find an asteroid that's the home of a vicious warlord that's been dominating the surrounding rocks by use of force. And their intelligence has pinpointed a cargo ship carrying weapons from an organized crime ring near Vingloria. This one is armored and has a pretty impressive escort. ]
Well, at least it'll be fun.

All Aboard Aveline
How about simply 'The Captain'? You are so infamous all know who you are without going into specifics of which captain you are. For you are the Captain.
...I still can't believe you named the ship Aveline. I can feel her disapproving glare from universes away.
no subject
[ 'The Captain'. But she still wanted something scary, intimidating. ]
You don't think she'd feel flattered?
Also have you met Furiosa? That's the name I want.
no subject
[He huffs softly. ]
I sincerely doubt it, given we're not exactly doing anything legal. You know how she feels about such things.
I have. She is quite the formidable woman. The name suits.
no subject
[ He's probably right. ]
I still need to meet her. She's becoming a thing of legend. Then again maybe I should keep it that way and start worshipping her as a distant god.
no subject
[He doesn't like his Hawke all that much, but hey, at least Garrett didn't kill him :| ]
She does not seem to be the sort of woman who would appreciate that.
no subject
[ Not that she can judge about relationships, but it was interesting. ]
Everyone could use a little god worship now and then. It's good for your skin.
no subject
[It is such a deep, complicated well of weirdness, that. ]
I don't think she would agree. But perhaps, inwardly, she would be a little flattered. Though she would never admit it.
no subject
no subject
[She never got any flowers. ]
no subject
Do you have anything unromantic planned with her, then?
Relationships involve seeing in other in more venues than each others bed chambers. [ She imagines. ]
no subject
I haven't really thought about it.
We sometimes go to bars?
[He has no idea what he's doing AT ALL. ]
no subject
[ Isabela is now put in the awkward position of giving her romantic rival slash ex-fuck buddy slash best friend relationship advice. HEAVY SIGH. ]
As unorthodox as Hawke is, she's eventually going to want more than just bar diving.
no subject
Oh.
...I suppose she would want that...yes.
[What do normal couples do? He has no fucking clue. What do normal people do, full stop???]
no subject
[ She fishes up her device and scrolls through until she finds the ad. She's learned the new tech pretty quickly, all said. ]
You jump in and tear up the countryside faster than a darkspawn with its eyes set on a lost baby elf. Take her on one of those. Run over some wildlife. Set some fires. Have a picnic. That kind of thing.
no subject
That sounds...horrendously dangerous. She would love it.
no subject
[ Oh, there's the bad advice. ]
no subject
Perhaps a little less of the casual killing? At least someone who doesn't deserve it.
I could run over a slaver, I suppose. That would be acceptable.
no subject
It just seems unlikely. They don't exactly carry signs to identify themselves from a distance either way.
no subject
no subject
I think I could probably spot one if they were surrounded by slaves.
no subject

no subject
Yes, I have noticed.
Lame friend checking in
You find some rich scumbag without any morals, he's gonna make for a way better haul anyway.
no subject
You see, Rich Scumbags Without MoralsTM tend to have things like armed guards. And also, if I'm extrapolating correctly, coming from a place without guns, lots of guns.
I'm a fan of not robbing people with guns.
no subject
no subject
I'm a lot more worried about the ship, and our squishier crewmates. Are you planning to siege a warship on your own?
no subject
no subject
Assuming we even found it. How good are you at finding secret hideouts?
[ She rubbed her chin. ]
In Thedus we'd have to worry about enemy mages too. Apostates are easy hires for ne'er do wells since they're already on the run.
no subject
What's an apostate?
no subject
[ She wasn't entirely sure if mages were common here. The raiders who'd hit them before didn't seem to have magic. ]
It's a mage who's decided they don't want to live under lock and key of the chantry, with a templar knife perpetually at their throat. A choice which brands them criminals, that if caught will probably be made Tranquil.
no subject
I'm gonna assume being made Tranquil is a bad thing, so more power to them. [There's any number of individual concepts in that she has no knowledge of, but the general gist is perfectly understandable. That kind of power-mongering exists in her own world, after all.] I'm not sure what that has to do with the stealing or not stealing from people who may or may not be guilty, though.
no subject
I didn't say that to present a moral quandary, I mentioned it because it's a concern when robbing someone whether or not they have someone on payroll who can hurl lightning bolts at you.
So can I safely assume you're on board with robbing this nice comfortable, minimal gun cargo ship now?
no subject
Well no, that's actually pretty intimidating, but--
Her staff clacks onto the floor and she leans on it.] I think you can safely assume that if you're on board with robbing it, I'll be leaving. I don't do that kind of piracy.
no subject
no subject
Most pirates are the kind of scum who would raid villages and kill families all in the name of showing their power and making money. I'd assumed you weren't like that, but you feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
gettin real
I don't raid villages or kill families.
[ She says it matter of factly, not letting any emotion seep into it. She doesn't elaborate more than what Nami asks. ]
And I wouldn't let anyone under my command do it, either.
gettin ...late
Nami doesn't say anything for a moment, letting that sink in, the utter bluntness of it. And then she relaxes. Because honestly she likes Isabel a lot, so she was really hoping her judgment wasn't that far gone.]
Give me a couple of hours. [It's a more subdued response, but her shrug is careless.] I'm pretty sure I can find you a better target that won't get us all killed, besides. If I can't, feel free to pick on the probably-insured all you want.
Re: gettin ...late
You can have more than a couple hours if you're that confident. Piracy is a waiting game, after all.
no subject
I appreciate it. In that case, I'll widen my scope a bit. I'll have something amazing by the end of the night.
no subject
[ It's not really a threatening tone she's taking, more amused and maybe even a little licentious. ]
