[ the comm seems to be haphazardly leaning against something, and the image you get is crooked. a sleeping man, who almost instantly awakes with a start. no scream, mercifully, he's quite over screamer videos, and besides, it wouldn't really be that surprising under the circumstances, now, would it? his eyes dart around the room, his feet flying off the cot and touching the ground. the moment he speaks, his accent undeniably and unapologetically identifies him as an englishman. ]

Not again - [ he groans, looking around him. the first time he was knocked out and kidnapped happened because he was foolish, he trusted a friend when clearly he had overestimated the bond, bloody spies, he's had his fill of bloody spies. but this time - he has no idea what happened. one minute, he's in a pod, sailing to freedom and the next - he's in this bed. he must not have deactivated something. do they have a blasted tracker beam on these things? so paranoid! ] Oi, @therealshield, you forgot to paint your eagle - I'm gonna have to deduct your merits - [ no answer. the room really doesn't seem like anywhere his previous captors kept him in, and that's rarely a coincidence. he gets up, and the comm seems to slip off whatever it was leaning against and end up in a new position, one that shows the back of the man, as he walks towards a window. ] ...you have got to be joking.

[ and a moment later ] Bloody aliens!

[ the man comes in and out of the frame, as he's clearly examining his surroundings, before he heads back to check on what he's got by his cot, and notices the comm. picking it up, you now get a close up of his face - ] Little red light - you're either going to explode or - [ that sure looks like a camera, doesn't it? he holds it directly in front of his face. ]

Take me to your leader.

Hm, I would say abduction puts you a few clowns short of a circus, but that is easily rectified.

Hey, the only thing I've ever abducted was a slice of pie.

And you won't actually find any convenient villains to snipe at. They're not here on the ships, they're somewhere else.

Abduction of pie is a very serious felony, particularly the last slice of key-lime.

Surely an exemplary model of virtue such as yourself would point me in their direction.

They'll have to tally it with the rest.

[ Yuri shrugs loosely, his hair swaying. ]

I would if I could, though I'd call dibs first. But they're really not here. Everyone's in the same boat as you.

[ well that's just...peachy. ]

That seems unlikely, unless this 'boat' is the size of a continent, or we're all the everyone there is. [ giving such a large cell for every prisoner seems really impractical. not that he's complaining - it definitely blows being handcuffed to a sink in a tiny bathroom right out of the water - but still, impractical. and why give them a form of communication? no, he's still voting on this guy is his captor or works with them. he's already tiring of the charade, and his dry tone is indicative of the fact. ]

Different boats. Or "ships" as you call them. You landed in the one where the new arrivals come on. Later on, you'll probably move to a different one.

[ Yuri blandly ignores the tone. He's fairly unflappable. ]

[ there's a mechanism, how delightful! you know what he was truly concerned about? the loss of organizational order. ]

Probably? I take it my alternative isn't staying put - [ as there's no one here. what happens to people who don't get moved around? ]

If it was, they don't let you have it.

That begs the question what counts as old.

[ whether he's newly imprisoned like him as he claims or newly imprisoning as hunter suspects, that's a question that should be responded to with honesty, isn't it? ]

[ Yuri rolls his shoulders thoughtfully. Yuri didn't ask details when he arrived because the gist was clear. He knew people. He knew people who did this to others. ]

I haven't asked but I got the impression people have been here for months. Maybe longer.

[ there are a lot of times when hunter would settle on getting the gist of things - when he's been abducted into outer space isn't one of those times.

he's caught by unknown assailants in either space or a bloody good hologram, his team probably thinks he bailed at the notion of added responsibility, and bobbi and mack probably think he decided to cut his losses and go underground, so likely no one is looking for him. no, the gist of things is absolutely not going to cut it. ]

What do you know? And don't skimp on the details, you're already in hot water over grand theft pie. [ wouldn't want to lose your paragon status, that would be tragic. ]

[ That was the first question to garner Yuri's interest. His lips quirk, crooked and wry. ]

Not much. I've just made guesses. People are brought here from different places and are watched for the amusement of others. I don't think I'm far off though.

If the goal is entertainment, I assure you [ the collective you ] I'm infinitely more amusing in person. [ he's seen people do a lot of weird things for a lot of weird reasons, being abducted for sport, for a spectacle - it's not that bizarre a notion to him. especially by aliens. it's always been the fear, hasn't it, that aliens should descend upon humanity and treat it the way it treats every other species on earth. ] What's the game, then? [ how are they meant to entertain, are they pinned against each other in death matches? that's so last year. ]

[ Yuri scrunches up his face, trying to remember what it was called. ]

Something called . . . reality TV? I've never heard of it.

[ you know what, scratch that, he'll take the death match. ]

You can't be serious. Survivor: Space? [ now, not that he's necessarily opposed to the concept it does sound like the easiest million bucks he's ever made. but he would have liked to be asked and also he's somehow getting the feeling that if there is a grand prize at the end of all of this it's not nearly as nice. ] Really?

I have no idea what that is.

[ And his tone is too blunt to be faking it. ]

Apparently, there's an audience who cares too much about what we do.

That doesn't really narrow it down.

[ that's pretty much every audience. ]

[ Yuri shrugs. ]

Don't look at me. I don't know anything about TVs and watching them.

Did they literally picked you up at a cave?

I'm lucky to have clothes.

But on my world, Terca Lumireis, we don't have TVs. We deal more in magic and monsters.

I dunno. But I'll take it over the D&D and reality TV that your world has.

[ it's not the shirt that concerns him. well, concern is an exaggeration. would mildly irritate him if it's foregone. ]

That's very closed-minded of someone that invested in a make-belief reality. [ guess who doesn't grasp the idea of a multiverse. ]
